Episode 5 of Silo : The Janitor’s Boy really tells how the administration, sheriffs and judicial have different interest and agendas for the Silo, for their people, for the structure and the future. The entire plot about the internal conspiracy from why they are really inside the Silo and if the outside is really safe or not is very interesting but every time they mention how they are confine to this space and how its an eternal circle of people been born and die inside the Silo without really seen the outside world, without experiencing what is to be free makes me sad and claustrophobic, the Silo does look big and when they go through the apartments looks like small corridors of a small city within the Silo so its very big although you can go from top to bottom in a single day as they have mention before so compare to been free outside and travel to any country or place you want makes a lot of difference, you are still limited to planet earth but its way more bigger and you get to meet different people every day, see the world, the landscapes, different cities, been free is just more than what they consider free on the Silo, besides they are not really free as George Wilkins thought and probably discover the reason why there is a conspiracy and why they are all tricked into thinking the outside is not safe and how the Silo population is manipulated by those in high hierarchy charges like judicial or the mayor.

On this episode we also know more about Robert Sims from judicial and his ambition, at the end he tells Trumbull how hard was life for him as a kid, as the Janitor Son, his father was a janitor who was proud of his job and how important it was for the Silo despite of what other said but Robert as a kid probably didn’t think the same and grew up with that ambition of been important and have power to step over those who look him and his father over the shoulder, now as part of judicial he has got part of that power that he wanted but his ambition is bigger than that, Bernard is there to remind him he is in charge and not Robert, as an intern mayor, I think this intern position was all planed and we are soon to discover how they did it, there has to be a network of spies, mics and cameras around the Silo and probably secret passages, rooms and doors that aloud them to control and do things without people noticing.

It seems that the Mayor and Judicial always have plans to been steps ahead of the Silo sentiment, right now after the murder of the mayor and a sheriff people are scared to go out, kids to go to school, adults to go to work because they think a murder is loose out there and they could be next, after all there is not much room to run away, to prevent this chaos the mayor and judicial have come up with ideas to distract people, Sims idea (judicial) is to offer a holiday, Forgiveness Day although Bernard is more creative and came up with a celebration to commemorate Marnes and Ruth as an in love couple who were murder but the narrative is to talk about how great their last years together were, how much they love each other and on that day do things they “like” , for example having a race to the top in honor of Marnes, Robert disagree with the idea but Bernard idea generates a story, more than just giving a day off to the Silo and keep people thinking about a murder that is still out there, this two are going to clash in the future but Bernard is in charge, Robert cant step over him.

As the clever man Bernard is, he tries to guide Jules around Judicial, not for them to be friends but to keep her alive, Im sure he already knows why she took the Sheriff job and wants her to also stay distracted thinking she can solve George murder case but at the same time keeping her away from the truth that might involve either him or Sims, keeping here running in circles but Jules is too smart to fall on that game, she is going to become a problem for Bernard and Sims.

I would say that the first ten minutes of the episode was the interesting part where you have to analyze how Bernard, Robert and Jules think, how they react to each other, Paul Billings was there too but more like a compliance auditor since he knows so much the pact but the real talk and tension was between this all three, Bernard thinking he is the smart one on the room and have everyone figure out, Sims trying to step over Jules and Jules not giving a fuck about anyone and determine to discover what really happens with George.

This scene shows how Ruth and Marnes are buried together as a couple something that was just for married couples based on the pact but Bernard made an exception as the mayor, this was part of his plan for people to think about a couple in love and not about a couple with high hierarchy jobs murder, that was smart.

Jules gives a small speech that really reminds how sad is living within the Silo, how they are all trap without knowing why, how there a large population that knew Ruth as their only Mayor since they were born, this shows the monarchy and monopoly of politics within the Silo.

They are buried at a very low depth in a field of apple threes, everyone bites an apple an throw it at them because they will now serve as fertilizer for the apple threes and all those apples they bite are the seeds, the cycle of life and death within the Silo.

Its all about distractions, shining things and mirrors, but this time Jules caught it right, she front runs Judicial and got Patrick Kennedy under her custody without telling anyone else, few days after Ruth was murder Marnes visit Patrick as a suspect of his witch hunt and got his ass kicked, he was the last person to have an altercation with Marnes and now Judicial wants to incriminate him, Jules picked up that thought fast enough to safe his Patrick’s live but also putting her own at risk, she was going after someone with way more power than her, Sims, who mention at the first scene of the episode how he was visit Marnes the night he died to convince him to make Paul Billings Sheriff so he could have inside man of his own. Jules takes Patrick and then stay around his apartment waiting for someone from Judicial to show up and she was right, Douglas Trumbull a man who was mislead by Sims under the impression he was a candidate to be Sims shadow, he was doing the dirty work for Sims and when Jules caught him in the act of planting false evidence on Patrick’s apartment there was a chase that ends on him pushing Jules over the stairs railing where she almost fall, same as George died, it was an intense scene.

After Douglas failed to plant false evidence on Patrick’s apartment, got discovered by Jules and failed to murder her after he got caught, it was evident that he was a threat to Sims, its here where Sims shows how drunk with power he is and his complex of been the Janitor’s Boy, he gives Douglas a pep talk about how hard was for him to be the Janitor’s Son and how after all the limitations he got to the point he is, even tells Douglas that he is going to be his shadow, the man smiles at Sims of happiness because it but Sims throws him to the bottom of the Silo, this shows how twisted and sick Sims is and he will anything to stay in his position of power, but I’m sure there is more to it, how he kills a man publicly and gets away wit it, there must be an insurance system that lets him manipulate the stories.

I got to say I really enjoy Episode 5 of the Silo: The Janitor’s Boy, there was a lot of suspense and the action scenes were intense, on this Episode Sims starts to become an important character of the story, I remember how I mention this before, we start to see how Bernard and Sims are the ones really in charge of the Silo, from the first two episodes when Bernard was introduce he look like a robot, never thought he could be so sleek, sharp and manipulative, how he came up with the story of Ruth and Marnes been in love to change the narrative around the Silo, Sims show his true colors manipulating Paul, Douglas and telling Jules straight to her face how he is going to work to get rid of her and send her back to mechanical. I still don’t know who killed Ruth and Marnes, going to watch the episode again if cant figure out then probably on the next episode they will figure out the murder.

Episode 6 of The Silo, Season One, reveals the Silo Monitor Center, Jules has a very different perspective from the Silo than many of the people living in it, since she met George she got sucked into this conspiracy that George was trying to unveil but unfortunately for both he ran out of time after he was found dead, allegedly he either jump from one of the stairs rails or someone pushes him; Jules lost interest on the conspiracy theory, the conspiracy has been proven to get you killed after George died and Holston was sent out to clean, but she did step in as a Sheriff initially with the intentions to find out what really happened to George not because Holston ask her too or because it was the right thing to do, serve when duty calls, it was mainly to figure out who killed George but recent events like the death of the Mayor and Deputy Marnes have actually put work on her hands and a motive to be a real Sheriff trying to find out if this conspiracy George was obsessed to reveal also killed this two characters that now were so close to her, down the road this events also push Juliette away from persuing her first goal letting her to think its time to go back home and forget everything that happen but she has a great mentor in Martha who tells her to stay firm on her believes and finish what she started, the seek for the truth of George death and indirectly figure out if there is really something more than the Silo itself out there, it took Juliette a few minutes to put her shit together and move forward, she is after all a women with a very strong character and mind of her own who rarely let others influence on her believes but its hard not to when others are one or two step ahead, on this episode its confirm that everyone on the Silo is been watched both by video and audio, they can see you and listen to your conversations, they know what you did, where you at and what you said, this circuanstances will make you doubt and probably whats exactly what happen to Juliette, yes at first she was chocked by what Kathleen told he about George but she should probably trust more George if she really knew him and think that some things he did he had to do in order to move forward with his investigation, he was constantly walking out of the Silo Law line and probably could not be as straight forward as Kathleen or Juliette may wanted too, women more often than men are hardly impact on their decisions by love, it can even make Juliette doubt about her believes after all she is human, mixed feelings almost tip her over.

From all these DOOMS DAY TV series I think Silo gets very close to what will happen to the planet and the human race if things go south with the climate, humans might be forced to live underground, it really surprises me how on the series things like this candy dispenser, at least that’s what it looks like, is banned, Judicial make it illegal for anyone to have something like it, there is a lot of truth on George words when he said: “why do they make it a risk to our lives to have them?”, the answer to that question is that it sparks to more questions like from where did it come from, are there any more like it? when and why is it here? , these are questions that lead to the main question, why are we hiding on this Silo? because so far nobody mentions why they lived inside the Silo, the only thing close to a reason is that the “founders” knew better and put them there but who are the founders and why did they build the Silo, Curious George knew better and was working on answering this question, the big question.

That same little plastic ducky started an investigation and almost broke apart Juliette and Billings, even on the pact they had those things like this are the gateway to criminal activity but it’s not the object the problem it’s the questions that it raises among the people on the Silo, plus if we think about it there must be a lot of people that is not sane inside that enclosure, yes the Silo is very big and sometimes looks like a very small city on the inside it still a close environment.

In episode six we get to see Judge Meadows, the person who is “supposed” to be in charge of the Judicial department but in fact, it’s very clear that its all an illusion, Robert Sims is clearly who dictates the tone of the conversation in the room, she clearly looks manipulated by Sims and also looks sick, wouldn’t be strange that in the future she dies because she was slowly poison.

A living example of someone who probably almost got killed because of having or dealing with relics in the past and has now stopped caring about them is Patrick, he has the look of a guy who is trying to change his life, not the most honest man on the Silo probably but for sure looks afraid of having anything to do with relics as he explains how it destroy his life, he gave Juliette the only name he could, the only dealer he could rat out but in fact, it was because Judicial already knew about her, Juliette is looking for answers behind the plastic duck relic, answers that could lead her to the murder of the mayor but in fact takes her to a dark corner.

When Juliette took the Sheriff’s job she did it for love, she wanted to figure out who killed George as she was so sure he didn’t commit suicide, a recent event especially starting the investigation of where this relic came from, got her to almost change her mind, take in consideration she wanted to know because initially, George gave it to her so she knew anyone who got it after that probably got it from George, Julliete fix George watch because she truly loves him and makes her feel special but finding out that he used other people to continue his quest to unveil the answer to the big question got her think twice if he really love her or was she just part of his quest? Kathleen, the woman on the second picture, almost got Juliette doubt of George’s true motives, Juliette almost quit and went back to mechanical.

The minute Juliette talk to Kathleen, Sims got notified, Sims brings Bernard (temporary mayor) to question her motives because they knew Kathleen hold some information that might raise the same questions George had about the Silo. Juliette manages to shake them off for the time but after a second visit to Kathleen, she gave Juliett a book that not even Sims knew about, a relic before the Silo, until now civilians don’t know they are been watched including Juliette.

Silo is a great series, from episode one it got me hooked, on every episode we get more details about the conspiracy that the management of the Silo runs, and it’s not regular management, its those behind the curtain moving the strings like Bernard and Sims, now when know how they are always a step ahead of everyone but Juliette is slick and will find her way out, it incredible how everything goes back to George, the relic she is investigating might take her to solve three murders but I think Sims is going to stop her, it’s hard for Juliette to do her job when there is a monitoring center with multiple employees watching and listen to her. Episode six also shows Juliette’s decision to find out who killed George and that she really loves him, sometimes you just have to believe in your judgment, even though Kathleen told her he probably used them both Juliette still went back to find out the truth because she loved George, it didn’t matter if he used her, what matter is the moment she spend with him and what she felt when they were together, like when she fix the watch just because watching him happy make her feel the same, that’s true love.

Major Ruth has been murder, poison, they mention rat poison and that she was NOT the target. Jules gets involve in the case as a new Sheriff this is her first murder case officially, saying officially because she is after George murder too, Marnes is devastated by Major Ruth death but if Major Ruth was not the target and it was Marnes who from all the people he has pissed off in the past wants him death, if I have to take a quick guess is Robert Sims, remember how he wanted to put some one on Jules Sheriff position but Major Ruth intervene then the next vacancy would be Marnes because killing Jules could be hard to pull besides its too obvious.

After three episodes we already know enough about Jules, about her family, how she started her career on engineering and never came back to the upper floors of the Silo until now that she have been given the job of Sheriff, who is her father but on this episode its also mention how her brother dies and the impact it had on her family reducing it to she and her father only. On episode four I think concludes the story of Jules as a kid, how she stay on deep in the Silo shadowing engineers, starting from picking up scraps, repair them, all the way up in ranks to the point she was trusted with the Silo generator, its an interesting story and its like and episodes that holds up a lot of action for the next one, there is a lot of story from when she was a kid but also the start of an entire drama that is the conspiracy of Major Ruth accidental death because the real target was Manes, in the mean time Bernard is assign as temporary mayor but on whose side is him? also he and Jules have some story.

Marnes is totally broken by Major Ruth death, they were lovers but had to hide it to the public because of their roles in the Silo, he explains Bernard and Sims how when you walk the Silo people usually drink from each other bottles because its easier to reach from others back pack but Major Ruth bottle had a leak so he didn’t drink any water from her bottle, raising the question was she the target? was she the only target? probably the murder didn’t think about it and poison Marnes bottle only thinking he would drink from his own water bottle or was Major Ruth the real target? I already mention that I think Sims wanted Marnes Sheriff position open to give it to one of his own people, I always felt suspicious about Bernard and Sims, each with their own agenda within the Silo and probably know the truth about why and how all this people got into the Silo.

Since Marnes cant be rational at the moment Jules gets the case assign to her by Bernard acting as proxy Major, Marnes is pissed and has no hope on Jules but at least she can act rational and be proactive.

Its no secret that only Sheriff Holston wanted Juliette as a Sheriff and that was because he had other personal reasons and probably not because she was capable of pulling the job, she has everyone against her including Mandy who use to be Holston’s assistant, but Jules knows how to be a real pain the ass so she pulls the I’m The Boss card on Mandy and get her to look for George’s file, problem is that its no where to be found.

Jules have some big shoes to fill in and her first day at the job has been a nightmare, not only Major Ruth dies after putting Jules as the new Sheriff but she now has to baby sit Marnes who started his own witch hunt, he is not a popular guy around the Silo but people respect him although he got a few grudge here and there that got him his nose broken after insulting some ones wife to not get into unnecessary details, Marnes just went rouge and is getting peoples attention and hate making him a target again, before things go south for him Jules was able to explain him her relation with Holston how he was working on George case but she cant figure out where the case file is, all she knows is that the word Truth on Holston badge was the sign she was waiting for as the last time she saw Holston he said “when I find the truth I will send you a sign” that was the key worth Truth on the back of his badge so they agree to help each other.

Marnes has been constantly drinking since Major Ruth death, he cant help himself, after a visit from Sims he gets another visit but this time from and unknown uninvited guess whose mission is to kill him, if judicial aka Sims was the one who wanted him dead then now is the chance with him all drunk and not be able to fight back.

Jules got very lucky when she found George files inside an air vent on Holston apartment, he knew they were going to clean it up after he goes out to clean and “die” so he hide it inside an air duct, as we confirm on prev episode the Silo is govern by a conspiracy, the outside world is not what it seems from the inside but its hard to believe or prove it if you have never been outside and there is a pact with tons of restrictions to figure this out making it almost illegal to know more about it and that is the reason why George was murder, it would be very hard that he commit suicide, he was killed after finding something that he shouldn’t and was about to tell Jules but it was too late when she arrive, Holston also find out the truth about the outside but why he haven’t come back knocking on the door or probably he did but upper management wont reveal it, anything outside the Silo and how they got into the Silo is a mystery, soon all the characters will get involve into the conspiracy story and this story time episodes will be over.

This episode at times felt boring but also like is setting up for something bigger now that we know the real target was Marnes and his killer accomplish the mission after the first attempt but ended up killing Major Ruth creating a bigger buzz around the Silo, so far it doesn’t look that this mistake would change their plans, I’m sure soon Jules will become a target as she starts to get deeper into George case and discover the same thing got him killed, there is a lot of screen time dedicated to Jules story as when she was a kid and how she started on the scraps yard recycling Silo trask, looking for things to fix and send them back up, how she and her father never had a good relationship after her mother died pushing her to isolated into tech, fixing and repairing things, leading to going deep into the Silo and end in charge of the Silo generator.

Juliette has a lot on her plate now been offered the job as a Sheriff after Holston wanted her to be her successor and both dead Holston and George, to that add she may need to shut down the Silo generator for the first time in Silo history to repair it without room for failure or live in darkness.

On Episode 2 had enough of the Silo and decided to go out but before he took such a light decision he had two entire years after George died and Juliette show him everything George have discover so far, he must have discover the truth about the Silo but probably was a bit selfish at not telling anything to Juliette but after all going out its a one shot decision, all they see from the inside its what shown from a camera that IS controlled by the Silo, the outside looks doomed and everyone who goes out dies by the “poison”, its a gamble that on this episode is revealed for a very brief time, Holston left behind a signal that Juliette understood and make her take the decision to take the Sheriff job but only after she becomes the first woman and engineer to shut down the generator for the first time in Silo history and get it repaired, she is going in basically blind folded without knowing whats wrong with generator and with very limited time before things go BOOM!!

Juliette is still grieving for George, on episode 2 she did try to reach the bottom of the cave where George mention there is a tunnel with a door at the end but the amount of water down there is massive besides who knows what is down there, water is life and all of the sudden there is some creature down there or the water could be toxic, water in the dark is very scary too and for someone who has never seen the ocean or even a full size Olympic pool imagine how hard it could be to take a big ass rope and go down about twenty meters to then jump into that massive amount of water, also consider that the rest of the excavator that was use to made the Silo is under water too so for all she knows she can dive into the water and hit the excavator right away all that and alone in the dark, she cant tell anyone else, if that information goes into the wrong hands Juliette can easily get killed.

She gets so drunk Shirley has to come to her place, its been two hours and she haven’t reported yet but when Juliette was waking up and recovering the Silo started shaking, the generator has been having issues, big vibrations that can make it explode so they both run down to the machine room and see whats going on, after kicking and screaming, Juliette rule is no body else goes into the generator but her, they figure out the diagnostic was wrong, the vibration is getting worst and its on the opposite direction so they have to shut it down to repair it before its too late. Knox chief of engineering has to come up with a plan to do this, Juliette is pushing for this but soon will get all the backup she needed to make it happen.

Mayor Ruth and Deputy Marnes are heading down to the machine room to talk to Juliette and offer her the job of Sheriff, its a tradition to offer the job no matter what after a Sheriff retire or pass out and leaves a candidate behind, first they stop by IT to try to get more information about her and ask Bernard head of IT, Juliette and him had some history after she took some heat resistant tape without permission but basically thats all she has on her to call her a thief.

Bernard must be part of the conspiracy, as head of IT he most likely knows the image on the screen is hijacked, what they showing is not the truth about the outside conditions, it shows a doom land but its the total opposite, on episode two I thought Holston was hallucinating when he saw clear sky, plants and trees but on this episode part of the truth is reveal although seem no body pay attention for this quick blip on the system.

Mayor Ruth also stop by to talk with Julitte’s father, Dr. Pete Nichols about her but as expected they don’t talk that much, they haven’t seen each other since she left to engendering when she was thirteen years old, since then not a word.

Finally Mayor Ruth and Deputy Marnes get to the machine room and explain everything is going in the upper part of the Silo to Juliette, Holston left her as his Sheriff candidate and no body wants her, not IT, not the judge, even if they ask her father that’s a solid no, at first she even say no, it look like it was a done deal, she knows its more important for everyone for her to stay down there at least until the generator gets repaired but for some reason Mayor Ruth wants her to take the job, she didn’t say it directly but at least thinks if Holston leave her as his successor has to be for a good reason and probably also wants to respect his last wish. Before they go back to the upper part of the Silo, Deputy Marnes gave Julitte Holston batch and that’s when it kicks in, Hank saw something on the back of the batch that make Juliette change her mind, it said “Truth” but there is only one condition, she first has to repair the generator, after some back and forward with the Mayor it gets approve, no body likes it and its a big gamble. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, they got less than thirty minutes before the steam that moves the generator make the steam container blow up.

The picture above shows the screen in the cafeteria, with the generator ON and then when they shut it down to transition into backup power, for a quick second the true image goes on but people were so scare, they have never been in the dark that probably not many notice, if you really zoom in you can see that on the first imagine there is Holston body on the ground, dead, but on the second one there is nothing.

Nobody like that the Silo went into backup power but it seems Benard head of IT specially took it personal, but Juliette is now officially the new Sheriff in town, she took the job but only to keep working on finding the truth about the Silo and George death, Holston once told her he will send word when he finds something and him sending for her as Sheriff was that signal plus the word truth at the back of his batch, now Juliette knows there is more to why Holston decided to go out, for Holston it was a gamble but for Juliette its less, time will tell if she runs with same luck as George and someone attempt to kill her when she gets too close to the truth.

For some very strange reason Mayor Ruth dies after she goes back to her office with Deputy Marnes, I cant figure out how they killed her, for sure she didn’t die because something was wrong with her, I never saw her eating anything during the episode she only drank water, probably her water was poison when lights went out, after all she was making some noise by not stooping to visit the judge and went directly to offer Juliette the Sheriff position against all the people she ask about Juliette.

This was a great episode with a lot of action, Juliette put her life on the line to get the generator fix, she knew it was now or never plus there is much more for her to discover now that Holston has send for her after selecting her to replace him but things wont be easy, the entity or people behind the truth of the Silo will do anything to keep things like they are, keep tight control of the people and the Silo, they can also quickly end anyone life just look at what happen to Mayor Ruth, they just filed a Sheriff vacancy now there is one for Mayor and I think the next Mayor wont be Juliette’s favorite.

Silo is turning to be a series full of details and I like it, all this relics that they call, it almost feels like this series comes out of a game with characters collecting clues of human history, both Sheriffs and the Mayor keep saying that they don’t know when or who created the Silo, I find hard that living in a coffinite space for that amount of people no body knows this and essentially that is the reason why Holston and his wife died, they were both trying to prove they were trick into staying inside the Silo.

Silo is getting a lot of acceptance online, with a 8.4/10 that’s a very high score on IMDB although it worry me a bit that when I open the review section there was no negative review, all reviews are positive and the lowest score was 7, I never fully trust this sites so I prefer to balance between IMDB and RTT then met half way and make conclusion of really how high or low can the score be but in this case might be irrelevant because the series is very good specially now that Rebecca Ferguson has come out playing the character of Julliet Nichols, an engineer who lost her boyfriend George Wilkins, everyone says he commit suicide but she knows he didnt, there was no reason to, George for over two years have been analyzing the data form an old hard drive Kathleen Billings help him to recover data from, once George told Julliet that what he is about to discover might get them killed just to have that knowledge.

The episodes starts with Sheriff Holston asking to go out, the only reason we know he wants to go out now is because he wants to be with his wife and now has the same doubts as her after he confiscate a hard drive from Julliette, same hard drive that George and Kathleen were looking at, the episode works on a reverse timeline where it shoes first Holston going out of the Silo to clean up the camera lenses and see the world form himself, on this scene we have a large group of people cheering for Holston to clean up the camera lenses as he goes out.

After he goes out this is suppose to be how the outside looks but I have my doubts, Kathleen before going out told Holston that what appears on the screens an illusion to keep them inside so how created that illusion? is the Mayor aware? could the Silo been a big gigantic battery as in the Matrix or is it a source of food for those living on the surface? there are many theories I can come up with but there is a conspiracy, the outside was everything his wife told him it would be, but after he cleans the camera then he suffocates, those inside the Silo assume its a venom from the outside but Holston different than his wife and any other human that went outside takes off his helmet, I assume because he was running out of oxygen or there was something inside his suit, this suits they are giving to go out are very rudimentary and doesn’t look like it would protect them properly, I think that there is no venom outside, I think they are poison before they go out, the Mayor or someone in charge puts something on their oxygen tank they have on their backs, one of the workers when hanging out at the cafeteria mention all those who go out die about three minutes latter, so how does the poison gets inside his helmet? is it because it was already on his oxygen tank or the suit is not hermetic?

Inside the Silo doesn’t seem to be too many guards or lets say police men, when Holston die they are one sheriff less and I cant believe this creates chaos but it seems it does, Deputy Brooks is send out to assist the citizens causing problems until they are interrupt by Sims, played by Common, that’s the only time we see him on the episode and I have no clue who he is, does he works with the Mayor? are they some kind of civil guards? mafia? got no idea, the fact is that when he arrives everyone makes silence and he ask his two body guards to get the names of the ones causing problems then they left.

When Holston died Juliette scream “HE LIED” , Juliette goes to what looks a local repair shop to “work” on things that need repair but she doesn’t, she just want to vent out, this is Martha Walker’s shop, she knows Juliette since she was very little so told her to start talking.

The episode rewind and go back to the last time Juliette and George talk, he told her that something big happen but cant tell her because there was too many people, they were at the cafeteria, decided to meet latter at her place but he never appear, he just left a note saying “I found what I was looking for”, the next day at the cafeteria one of her co workers Cooper tell her the news, George jump out the corridor falling into the stairs instantly died, George suicide. Juliette knew that was not true, she suspects someone kill him so ask for the help of Deputy Hank who then ask Sheriff Holston to review the case, that’s when Juliette meet Holston on episode one, after talking about how she was related to George and the note he left she tells Holston she may now why he was killed and there is something she wants to show him, Holston.

Juliette takes Holston to this hidden area that has a huge excavator, they suspect was use to dig to build the Silo, she believes the Mayor knows about it but never talk, this cave is hidden from the Silo, they access it through a hole in a wall on the most deep side of the Silo, they go straight down to the bottom of the cave, part of it is full of water and George had a bed with lots of things he have found, most are what they call relics, basically vintage stuff that most are illegal but the reason they are illegal is because it might reveal the true story before the Silo was created, the Silo its a big conspiracy that the government inside is trying to keep as a secret keeping people ignorant about the subject.

Hidden under water they found a bag with probably George’s most precious findings, inside there was a hard drive and its here where Juliette finds out Holston knew George because Alison his wife was working with him and Holston knew everything about it but he is a man of the law, this time he decided to bend the law and keeps the hard drive, telling Juliette he would help her find out how George died for real, she scream HE LIED! because he tool the hard drive and never really help her investigate George murder, he took the information for himself and then goes out that’s why I think she said he lied.

What Juliette didn’t know is that Holston nominate Juliette as her successor, probably he left all the information he found hidden on this apartment for her to have it but that was stupid, the Mayor would never make Juliette sheriff, although the Mayor wants to meet her and a sheriff will clean up Holston place, question is if who that sheriff is and will he find Holston treasure bag?

The episode jumps back in time again to a moment Juliette and George were together on their hideout at the bottom of the cave where he had all the relics, George told her there is a door at the bottom at the end of a tunnel, question is where does this door takes them? out side? problem is its under water and Juliette is scare of water, George says he will go down and be careful but we don’t know if he really did, probably that was the thing he wanted to talk about with her before he died, Juliette now in the present decides to go down but she is so scared, the episode ends with her hanging from a rope close to fall in the water.

So far the only thing I don’t like is how episodes end with literally people hanging, episodes end with a void for continuation, as I mention this series has so so many details involve on the history of the Silo, George murder, why Holston and Alison decided to go out, there is a huge conspiracy but its too soon to tell even if the Mayor is part of it, just because they are the law doesn’t mean they are part of the conspiracy, they could be used by others too, I cant find anything wrong about this series so far, its great in every aspect, actors, drama, thrill, music, the production looks very sharp with the scenarios, top quality, until now its an 8/10 for me.

Silo a post apocalyptic TV series where an entire society lives inside a Silo that goes many floors down having all kind of crops necessary to survive, with water and a sustainable environment, Silo has very high scores on review sites like IMDB and RTT, I haven’t done any research if this is based on any video game that it actually looks like but it kinda remind me of the game Fallout, the inmates or citizens depending on how you look at it live with a very strict set of rules after all living in a confine space no matter how big it is still difficult to adapt, not many people can overcome this so a strict set of rules with enforcers is necessary but it seems not everything is what it looks like inside the Silo.

I got a great impression from Silo episode one, the production looks great, the music really sets the mood, the cast is great with actors really adding feelings to their character

Rashida Jones, playing Alison Becker
David Oyelowo, from Interstellar, playing Sherriff Holston, Alison’s Husband
Will Patton, from the 90’s Armageddon, play Deputy Marnes

and the cast list goes on with a great set of actors, I can really see this becoming a triple A series, it would depend on the script if it doesn’t get too boring at times, after all they are lock down on a Silo under ground, it is huge though, from the shots it looks like an entire city every floor, similar to Zion from The Matrix Revolution movie, I have no complains from episode one, releasing two episodes at once seem to be a trend that I think the intention is to have the series stick right from the go, I have mention before that sometimes for me to get hooked I need to watch at least three episodes depending on how good or bad this series is but Silo gets your from episode one.

The story gives context at the very scene where Sheriff Holston lock himself up in a cell and then ask to go out, there is this “freedom” within the Silo that anyone who ask to go out wont be stop but I think that’s after the “government” the ones who enforce and create the rules made sure to paint a very horror picture of what is outside. He ask to go out and says he should have listen to her and then Alison comes up on the screen before she went out, you don’t have to be a genius to see it, she is on some kind of suit and on the same cell, so we immediately know he lost her and wants to be with her again but how if she died? or at least that’s what show up on the screen, every screen on the Silo is a mirror of a single camera upstairs at the front entrance of the Silo so its fully underground, this screens are not windows of the Silo.

I really like their old computers and the sounds they make remind me of Windows 98, the rules are very strict, this is similar to communism and a bit worst, the Holston’s are giving a window of one year to have a baby because all women who can still get pregnant are under a strict birth control with a device they implant inside them, Holston is a man of law and he obey them all as he is the enforcer.

There is still a small population that remembers or have an idea what the old times look like when they had more freedom, there was this revolution that the Silo Government calls extremest and radical, until now we don’t know if that’s true, Gloria is part of that old school conspiracy, she believes the Silo Government wants to keep them inside and is not telling them truth, why not all women are giving the chance to get pregnant? why they destroy all books and computers older than hundred and forty years, but she is treated as a fraud.

Alison been a more wild spirit than his husband thinks people need access to information, she made a post about how to recover lost data but that is not aloud and her boss Bernard remind he of that after he delete the post, Alison works on the IT support section for the Silo and also creates content for their intranet system. Alison talk about this with her husband and immediately without noticing he took his posture as law enforcer and she notice it, for Sheriff Holston the only thing that keeps them together and alive inside the Silo is the law and nothing is above it, not even his wife.

Either this was intentional or its just Alison destiny to become part of the rebellion, may be there is a rebellion working in the background and notice Alison, first Gloria ask her for a talk and tells here things like they are listening everywhere and why she couldn’t get pregnant that latter on Alison cut herself and took out the real birth control device, then George a local IT guy sends a ticket on a holiday trying to get someone from IT to come down and help him with some task they don’t describe but he found what they call a relic, in this case a hard drive older than hundred and forty years that probably has data they shouldn’t be look it at because they Silo Government do not allow it.

At first she was afraid but didn’t rat George, just ask him to get rid of it but then the closer she gets to her deadline to get pregnant without success plus Gloria told her why this is, Alison start skipping work reporting sick, stop having sex with her husband after they were doing it like rabbits every time they could after all EVERYONE on the Silo knows when you get the chance to get pregnant, she start visiting George and help him recover the data from the drive, it seems the Rebellion didn’t destroy all hard drives, well that’s what the Silo Government wants people to think, this is classic on post apocalyptic theme series.

Alison knew that Holston wont believe her without proof so she does two things, took a knife and takes out her birth control device and show it to him and then on a moment of desperation after her husband didn’t believe her she goes to the main cafeteria and start telling everyone what she believes is the truth, the entire conspiracy theory of the Silo keeping them inside and publicly ask to go out in front of her husband and everyone else in there, after this an investigation starts and they get Gloria and George, I don’t know what happens to Gloria but George pivot to another work like and years latter suicide.

The last time Alison and Holston where together she explain him how everything on the screen is a lie and says that if that’s the case that everything is green with clear sky she will clean the camera lens “the screen” but if its not if it is like what they say the she will just walk away and say good bye because she was wrong, this can still be manipulated, no days digital proof can be alter very easy with AI so probably they can do the same.

Holston is heart broken for whats going on, everything that is happening goes against his believes and his job, after all Alison cleans the lens and walk away but the video shows she dies after a few meters, the crowd joins and cheer for her like it was a spectacle, reminds me of the “are you not entertained” from Gladiator.

After two years George commit suicide but its not clear, there is the possibility he was murder by someone and Sheriffs will investigate, Holston and Marnes go to the morgue to interview the Engineer supervisor of George but she couldn’t make it because she was dealing with the Silo generator, so they make her a visit, this is when Holston meets Juliet Nichols, everything change for Holston that day, after grieving his wife for a long time, it was like he finally open his eyes and start listening as he describe it himself.

Its like Apple Tv+ only release AAA series, Silo so far is great, it gives context right away and its full of little details most viewers wont get at first like messages that show up on the computers you have to pause and read closely and Holston also ask Marnes to “Double the flowers in front of the mirror” I’m not sure what it means but for sure will figure out latter on when Marnes or some one else goes after Holston papers, the cast is great I cant ask for a better one plus production and music are very fit to the theme of this series, I give an 8/10 to the first episode, more details about the rebellion is what I really want to know before they reveal the truth of the outside world, I don’t think that will happen soon.
