Secret Invasion: Betrayed – Season 1 – Episode 3 – RECAP

Compare to other Marvel TV Series Secret Invasion in my opinion is not bad as people might think but for sure not its best work, there is not much action until now, its more about an espionage TV Series and probably the way it should be because besides Skrulls on this story there are no super heroes with powers or a suit and I think that’s the way it was intended just humans against the infiltrated Skrulls from Gravik.

Episode three is just that, start to unveil the traitors on both sides from the Gravik camp and the more divided humans group leading Nick Fury but just way too divided between MI6, US Government, after all Skrulls is probably the main reason humans are so divided, its the result of many years work dividing to conquer that was exactly what Gravik was looking for and he is now Skrull General after getting the full support from the Skrulls counsel after showing he does have what it got to make Earth the home they were looking for and convincing them that it wont be achieve by been friends with humans but by making them go against each other at war while Skrulls just watch humans become extinct, it will be very hard for Nick Fury to stop this plan but he has Talos on his side and I think this war wont be won by force but by out smart the enemy.

Back when Gravik was chosen as Skrull General there was a few of them that were not too sure of his methods, Skrulls are a pacific species and those who had to fled their home know how bad war could turn out for them, if they loose to humans it could be game over, at the end I think that’s going to be the card that make Nick win this war against Gravik, show other Skrulls how wrong is Gravik at fighting humans instead of living together in peace with the option to stay on Earth or find another planet to claim.

Initially Gravik plan was to infiltrate humans thing that he did perfectly at taking hostage the Captain in charge of a submarine with missiles probably powerful enough to do a lot of damage or at least enough as Nick said to start World War III, with the help of Talos he was able to stop the launch, Talos is a bit against killing people specially Skrulls but this time he was the one pulling the trigger when the Skrull rebel mention his daughter what brings to mind if he knows/suspects G’iah is providing information to Talos then Gravik must too.

Sonya is helping Nick too, they might not be from the same agency or country but its on their best interest win this war against Skrulls, she is aware of whats going on even a few steps against Nick with the intel that she has but is aware that at times they might need to exchange intel to move forward not like Rhodey who thinks Nick needs to stay out of all this situation.

Talos is just too good of a guy but his feelings were hurt on episode two after he had to revile Nick there were a million Skrulls on Earth, he never lied about it to never told Nick, what he did make clear is that Nick would not be promoted or successful as he was at S.H.I.E.L.D if he didn’t have Talos and his network of Skrull spies working with him probably the reason why he was always always miles away up front, I can only imagine how Fury had the agency itself infiltrated because the feeling has always been that Fury is a fucking ghost, a ninja that no body else knows how he is many steps ahead before things happen and now Talos reminds him of this but most important Talos shows Fury he is his true friend, despite him been a Skrull or Human he is his friend before any difference but he wanted to feel special too or at least equal and made Fury beg him for help just a bit to make it fun.

Talos had this meeting with Gravik where they were playing a lot of mind games, I think Gravik has some respect for Talos as he was probably the original Skrull General at Earth when they arrive also Talos was there when Fury brought in Gravik to work for him but from this meeting things definitely going to change, Gravik show Talos how many Skrulls are with him when every single one on that room shape shift into Gravik, this is a way to show Talos who rules now and his last sign of respect to him, Talos was lucky Gravik didn’t kill him on the spot.

Skrulls can regenerate but I think its not instant although before Talos goes he stab Gravik on his hand and left but after Gravik pull his hand from the knife instead of taking it off, spliting his hand in too and then instantly regenerate with his hand glowing like generating energy or fire, sign that he already mutate results of their experiments for Super Skrulls with the machine that appears on this post cover.

Gravik has convince a big part of the Skrulls community on Earth including having the Skrull Counsel on his side either by force or not so this probably puts him in the same position as when Fury had his private Skrull Spies Network, so for sure no body is ahead of him, probably he might not be as sharp as Fury because he is young and lack the same experience, eventually his finds out Ghia was working with her father Talos, after some of the Skrulls got caught in Russia he know someone was feeding information and it was just a matter to use the right bait to get the traitor, the plan to launch the missiles on the submarine was that, the bait to lure out the traitor, he probably did trust Ghia at first but for sure always had that suspicion that she might betray him. When Ghia tries to leave camp he was there waiting for her, he was probably had people monitoring her all day, Gravik shoot Ghia and she falls to the ground, I don’t think she is dead but she makes that sound when they shape shift after falling meaning at least she is knock out.

Last but I think most important I think, its that Fury wife who is a Skrull, who told to his face that she has nothing to do with Gravik is now looking for him and potentially have to do with Gravik plans. She was the one who brought Gravik to Fury back in the day so she probably have some attachment to him since she took him over, probably consider him a son and consider she is a Skrull after all, even though she got involve with Fury they are not the same species, blood calls blood.

I feel like Secret Invasion is going to ramp up a lot after episode three, Gravik powers and machine has been openly shown and the entire Super Skrulls concept will bring that super power side characteristic of Marvel content but so far I think the lack of action and fantasy that super heroes bring in is what people were expecting this was going to be about, I remember making an article when the trailer came out and so far I dont see it as false advertisement or like it oversold what this series was going to be, probably viewers felt this had to be a longer series and not just a mini series so there was more time to develop the story but all this was about is Fury spies network and how it started, even Gravik I think is a plus because he is also the result of what Fury did before the blip.

That is how it feels sometimes, Mike is almost under water with very little space to breathe, his plan lacks execution, so far we know his that kinda was never there for him when he was little and his dad does seem to lack those parenting skills this tip him over and is constantly arguing with him making things difficult to move forward besides they really fucked up putting responsibility on Buzz, the guy can barely talk and gets distracted with a fucking plane besides letting him carry a gun, at some point things would go wrong.

Mike also is now getting chase by Moss since he haven’t give him any solid evidence on Delly murder, Moss could be as stupid as Buzz but he had to learn one or two things about been a gangster from his father so he is starting to lose trust on Mike, after all Mike owe him a lot of money and the only reason why he took the job to find Delly is to get of the hook from those gambling debts and start fresh but since she was “murder” then he is now in charge to find who killed her, he came up with all this bullshit story that someone is trying to send a message to Moss, probably rival gang but that’s just to stay with Delly until the find the gold, at this point they still do not know for sure there is gold on that truck and I think they will end up with empty hands, not like its enough pressure from finding the gold, Moss, his dad but now Iris is in town and she is on duty as a cop, this going to get really tight for Mike and Delly.

This is Buzz, as always fucking things up, Sonny trust him because he is loyal and I get that but letting the guy not only carry a gun but also having the guy around was a big red flag, he is constantly talking none sense and this time happen with the crane operator, Buzz was so excited about the Porsche at the bottom that when the operator arrive start talking about the Porsche and eventually mention the gold, operator thought he was slick and try to pull a new deal but Buzz felt like the boss man, pulls the gun and couldn’t take the operator mocking him so shut him without thinking about the consequences.

Cleaning up a murder scene is a lot of work, getting rid of the body, cleaning everything, not leaving anything behind that can turn into a clue and that team alone is not going to pull it, they are very close to get caught either by the police or someone else who finds out about the gold, like the crane operator.

More heat coming up for Mike and Sonny, Moss got tired of listening to Mike excuses and not coming up with any real evidence that Delly is dead, who killed her and why she got murder, the only reason could be to her relationship with Moss but it was very unlikely so Moss is starting to lose faith on that story that Mike came up with and now sends to Florida a guy called Dutch, one of his father old goons, his mission is to locate Mike and find out what he is up to.

Sonny had a deal with Officer Andy after he retire, Sonny seem to do things close to the edge of illegal and the deal with Andy was to stay out of his business because he kept him on that job even gave him the job at the police office but he also haven’t been patient with him and some times even diminish him so Andy is starting to have enough of it. Sonny still feels like he is the big boss to some of the police officers but the truth is that he is not, after he retire he turn into another civilian.

During the series mike gambling addiction has not been explain into details but he and Iris split for this reason, they were married and now she is investigating a case that definitely involve Mike, not that he has been doing a bunch of illegal stuff but he did cover up Moss plus Mike been with Delly doesn’t help neither, sometimes even if you don’t do anything wrong just by been with the wrong people at the wrong time could create a bad impression for who is judging and they bring you into the case just for the doubt, not exactly whats going with Mike because after all he is the driver of a gangster involve on a murder case plus he is fucking that gangster girl friend. I’m sure Iris wont be happy when she uncover the truth and her past with Mike wont matter to her, what we see on the image above is the raw truth of an addict, emerge into gambling so bad its 3 a.m and Mike was at the Casino during vacations with Iris while she was basically begging him to stay with her at the room and he didn’t, when Mike talks about gambling he does regret been an addict and tries to stay away but he haven’t really meditate enough of everything else he lost or destroy because of his addiction, I don’t see this story ending with Mike in jail or even dead.

Iris knows Mike too well and already got him before she even starts investigating, she goes to his family and got a solid answer that Mike is in town but his sister wont sell him out and now she is at the dock where the boat Mike and Delly where after initially for the gold, all it takes is Iris to find footage of Mike with Delly to get the police after him just for the fact he is with Delly.

Dutch, Moss’s guy, finds Mike and cut a deal with him, he doesn’t like Moss neither but this deal had a short life time after Ray Ray comes in and I’m not sure why he went into search and destroy mode immediately because he didn’t know who Dutch is and right away mention he will do it to protect Patsy and Sonny, this felt a bit rush but the end was great, Mike push Dutch into a portable toilet and Dutch light up his lighter making the entire thing explode, the problem is now Dutch wont be able to report back to Moss so soon he will send more people after Mike, Mike is running out of time and he knows it, he is getting desperate and wont let this go no matter who is on the line, there is that gambler mentality because he is not thinking he is putting a lot of people at risk Patsy, Delly, Iris some of them can take care of themself but others cant, Sonny is on this too so basically Mike is just like his father.

Everything is against Mike, he is running out of time, Iris is getting close now that she knows Mike is in Florida with Delly, the reporter he once to get information on Delly, Kaitlin Fox now find out he doesn’t work at the Department of Transportation so now she is also investigating him, with Dutch dead Moss will send more people after Mike, officer Andy just turn his back on Sonny now going after Mike and Sonny not to forget the mess that Buzz did by killing the crane operator at the start of the episode, so many people after Mike that its just a matter of time before he gets caught.

A gambler over all then an ex cop, Edgar Ramirez from the epic Hands of Stone film plays Mike Valentine who currently working for a mobster he owns money while fucking his girlfriend on the side now has to go after her when she brakes up with Moss Yankov the mobster Mike owes money to.

Florida Man from my perspective is not a AAA TV Series although very entertain, so far I have only seen the first episode, this Tv Series is part of a nice group of release from last week that I was expecting. Mike has been working on his gambling issue going to meeting and staying away from trouble but at the same time putting his life at risk since he has been sleeping with his boss girlfriend, gambling is not a problem only related to money and casinos, usually people with gambling problems bring the to their regular life and Mike is taking risks every day that can even get him killed.

Mike addiction starts after he found a gold coin inside a fish, that’s weird but fish can swallow things, while fishing with his dad caught this fish who had a golden coin inside that I guess he felt it was his lucky day, that probably push him into trying to feel lucky again, that dopamine injection of wining got him for life.

This was an accident, Mike didn’t brake his leg.

Mike owes money to a mobster called Moss Yankov who agree to hire him to drive and collect but Mike is against violence, just intimidation, during the process some end up in violence even braking a leg like the guy on the screenshot who ran away from Mike thinking he was going to brake his leg, Mike has a good hard although his past actions do not back him up. Gambling got him to loose his job and girlfriend, leaving him alone and now having to deal with Moss life.

Here we have Iris, Mikes ex girlfriend who still works on the police force and now is an investigator, she doesn’t seem too confident and eventually ask Mike for help, she knows Mike is on Moss inner circle, Mike agreement has always been no body dies as he collects Moss money but its not for sure Moss kept his side of the agreement.

Meet Delly West, Moss girlfriend who he loves?? I’m not sure about it, she does look like a trophy girlfriend for him, the type of girl you don’t care about she is just too hot you need to have her in your shelf, not that I think that’s the right thing to do but that’s the mentality of a character like Moss.

Delly is a regular girl, yes she likes expensive things and might be superficial but she is tired of Moss business line, at some point for everyone money and possession becomes irrelevant and that’s what happen with Delly after Moss gave her a used necklace. Delly has been fucking Mike every time she gets tired of Moss just to get back at him but without actually telling him, there is revenge that stay silent for a while.

Delly runs away to Florida and Moss asks Mike to go after her and bring her back, she have been trying to get Mike on board to her plan but he didn’t want to , he thought it was too risky and he is just trying to get clean from gambling.

Delly once told Mike they both will never get away from Moss, they took something for him and now wont get away form him, then Mike answer not for ever.

She probably also took money or a big favor from Moss or his family and was force to keep with him, in the meantime as a Mobster girlfriend got use to nice things, expensive lifestyle but as anything in this world at some point you just want peace and silence, she knew with Moss she was not going to get that and decided to run away.

Mike goes back to Florida, he is from Florida, for sometime he has been trying to stay away from Florida, from this episode I can say its mainly because of his past life, he started gambling in Florida and his dad wasn’t the best, a corrupt police man now retired who is kind of a mobster himself.

Sonny Valentine, Mike’s dad, because of him Mikes is recognize around town and was able to pull a favor and locate her very quickly, a local police man who got his job because of Mike’s dad gave him the tip that Delly’s car has been spotted at a local car sales which lead Mike to find her. He found the place and act like he was interested on the car, inspecting the car finds a parking citation that gave him her possible location at Coronado Beach.

Mike gets to the place she was staying in and saw her get to a cabin with a man, after a few minutes heard gun shots to then find Delly laying cover in blood on the bed, he takes her purse and run away but the owner of the place saw him.

Mike starts his investigation, trying to figure out who and why Delly was killed, he is an artist at tricking people into think he is someone else and thats how he got the tip from the cop, now he goes to a local tv station and talks to reporter that could get him information about Delly because after the murder she cant be found, no news, no reports, they police cant find her body and this reporter got him a video of the ambulance where Delly body was suppose to be transfer, for Mike to find out there was no body on that ambulance.

The police now has a drawing of the man who was seen at the crime scene, although there is no crime if they cant find a body, shots were heard and a man was seen last time entering the cabin with Delly, an ambulance came in and pick her up but then no body knows where Delly is meaning even if someone help the police to identify Mike there is nothing they can charge Mike for.

Everything felt so strange to the point that now he thinks it was a professional job to disappear Delly, that’s the extreme way of killing someone, for that to happen there must be a motive and he is trying to figure out, obviously the first suspect is Moss who Mike confront over the phone but he denied it, says he loves her and would never hurt or kill Delly.

Mikes father also give him a hard time because he had him follow and the police approach him to give him a heads up of whats going on with Mike.

Turns out Delly is way smarter and as she was mention, she would never get away from Moss so she decide to reborn, fake her own death and have Moss know about it to be truly free.

Florida Man is just a story, it wouldnt be strange if its a novel, I havent research into it, I find this series very entertaining, the cast is not the best one out there but its enough to keep you wanting to know more about what happens to Delly and if Moss will ever find her. The story of Mike sound insteresting too as he kept saying he was running away from Florida, we part of it is because of his dad but what else is in Florida that Mike doesnt like that much, then we have that Mike will have to choose between his ex girlfriend Iris who he is still trying to get back with and Delly who is/was his boos girlfriend he been fucking on the side. I think the answer is obvious, Mike eventually choose Delly but ends up alone, the story will be interesting of what happens during that process and if he stays in Florida, his ex girlfriend is investigating Moss since she was assign to task force in the local police department, this investigation might get Mike involve and she knows it. Mike again gambling his life away now helping Iris to get Moss.
