Parish (2024) : Sanctuary – Season 1 – Episode 3 – RECAP

Source

Parish has not been the most exciting TV series out there and my expectations were higher than I though and that’s on me but it still at a level where you can watch an episode and kill some time without feeling you wasted your time, Giancarlo Eposito has not turn out the action men that I thought he would be and that’s on me too because most of the time he plays roles as business man or gangster not a wheel man. What keeps the series interesting so far are his friend fuck ups, Colin; has the ability to get in trouble one after another and its usually with the wrong people and so far I’m not too sure why he end up working with the Tongai.

Episode 3 is the continuation of the shooting scene at the cemetery, Shepherd “The Horse” got shot and Parish once again safe his ass, is like he is always there on the right time to safe his life or business some how and Parish takes him to the most obvious place he would, with sister Anne who is a good friend of him and even work together in the past but different than Parish she is way pass that life style, she prefer to be free of problems and been able to sleep at night with both eyes close.

I have to be brutally hones, the shooting scene at the cemetery was ok until they shot Shepherd, he falls a few meters latter and they had him right there ready to be executed and some how they get spooked by the NOPD shopper, they were just meters away and could have pull the trigger and hurt him badly but instead decided to run away scared of been arrested, if you laying in the ground like that and some one is trying to kill you from that distance they would at least pull the trigger several times to hurt you.

While everyone was waiting for Parish at home, they had an appointment to show the house they trying to sell; Parish was busy trying to keep Shepherd alive, ironically Zenzo is Shepherd head of security and until now I don’t know if he let him go on purpose alone with Parish his driver or he was just so naive, they looking of them but they all three took Perry words very light when he said some one was going to get mad af for what they trying to accomplish and control the market, on the suspicion that something happen to Shepherd, both Zenzo and Shamiso start looking for him.

Shepherd is afraid that their phones are been monitored or they looking for him at the local hospital so he want nothing to do with cell phones or hospital at the moment, Parish decided to take him with Sister Anne who he knows wont say no to him on top they have Luke with them too so that’s leverage for him. Anne in fact takes them in and get things clear form both Parish and Shepherd, she wants nothing to do with them but as in any other similar story she some how from now on might be involve or probably even snitch on Parish and I would not blame her, she knows who Sheperd is or at least that’s what she says, not sure if she only assume who he is.

When all the shooting start to happen there were no names and I had no clue who was after Shepherd until now, what looks to be a group of army guy probably mercenaries lead by Anton played by Bradley Whitford who I have seen play the villain role and he is kind of a cool villain, puts up this crazy face like he is insane and don’t give a shit all the time, people are often afraid like the guy is a psychotic, Anton is probably the guy who was supplying Perry with slaves, essentially he wants Shepherd dead for messing with his business.

In terms of context or plot, Parish does not really brings anything new to the table so most of the scenes are very predictable except when it gets to his family, that side of the story kicks in leaving many questions when the hustling and gangster side does not, as an obvious response to the current situation Shamiso, Shepherd sister; goes to Perry for some answers but the guy is just another pawn.

Its here where things get interested for the Parish story, its the mystery of how really his son died and how he is going to explain the world of shit he is in to his wife and daughter before its too late and they end up stuck like him, usually when a character gets this kind of problems things just get worst and worst, this time in the even that no body can locate Parish for the last 12 hours his wife goes to the Taxi Garage to find out he has not been there neither and find a file with tons of data about their son who seem to be dead after some car hijack, leaving the question of why this happen? was this because of Parish past life? I thought it was just a car accident but from the paper it is more than that. Parish wife Rose has now notify the police about his disappearance and will start looking for him, same guys who were questioning him the other day about Colin so the probability they had something on Colin and him has grown exponentially.

Most of the episode happens at the church with Sister Anne and after that there was not much but details like Parish been missing, not been able to show the house, no body has seen him create a series of events that make his family discover what he is in at the moment, I doubt Anne is going to snitch on him unless she has no other option in any case would be if her life is at risk and not last there is Anton who I would like more background and proper introduction of what he does for a living, at first when he shows up he is driving a crane and then he is all dress up, he is the type of Italian gangster who owns a scrap yard?

Wow this is going to be a long post, there is so many details and so much to say about Fallout and in my case the best part is that I know NOTHING about the game and really don’t care about it because everything I have to talk about is the series itself and not if its related to the game or not, in fact on my PREVIEW POST I did mention that the series was not going to be canon and it would feel like a new game story for those who have played the game.

Season 1 release all at once, seems that Prime Video is taking a page out of Netflix and not sure why, they didn’t do this with Halo and I think it work out fine, releasing all at once leave many viewers with a lot of spoilers, no rest between episodes and takes out the suspense in between.

After watching episode one I really like it an enjoy it, this is NOT a TV series for kids to watch as a fact I would not recommend it for anyone who is not an adult, there are certain things that are kinda bizarre and out of place but I don’t mind since this is not educational content, just entertaining, there is sex, drugs, bullying and possible deviation when it comes to the sex of a person and about that I also don’t mind and don’t care.

The series is develop around the 60s similar as the game suggest, USA is at the border of nuclear war while Cooper Howard a well known actor who mostly played on Western Movies and seem to have served in the army is in some financial trouble so he does kids party shows dress as a cowboy, at the moment when all bombs drop he was with his daughter Janey Howard who I though was a survivor when latter on Lee Moldaver appear I thought it was her but she is not, so far on episode one its not mention if she survive or not, wonder how many will say how come the girl has dark light skin and curly hair and his dad is a white men, well mother is dark so what?

The bombing scene I really enjoy it, specially how they drop more than one nuclear bomb, on my cheap VR Setup look so cool so if anyone had the chance watching this series give it a try on SBS format, this scene was a royal rumble free for all so many people running around like chickens without a head.

Main character on this story steps up, Lucy MacLean, she was born and raise inside Vault 33 and has now come to an age to get married, to a certain point inside each vault they are just to close to each other when it come to family and can’t couple between them so I guess the best option is to exchange with another Vault in this case number 32, her brother Norm reminds her it could be anybody, she has no clue how the guy looks but thats fine with her, Lucy is actually the best of the best, well trained and thought. On the images above we see how she signs her weeding dress same as every other women has done it for many years, there were more than ten signatures on that dress.

Until this point there was nothing strange, both vault open up and the ceremony was happening on Vault 33, in many cultures is a custom for the fathers bride to throw the weeding party so all from Vault 32 came in, Vault 33 residents are pacifist, it was a very tight community who help each other. On the series many times we will have sex talk and jokes around it, in this case Lucy was talking about her new husband sperm count to make sure they could reproduce like it was normal small talk while they eat with the rest of the table.

Lucy’s brother Norm sense something was off and decided to take a peek at Vault 32, when he arrive it was totally destroy, look like no body have been there for many years, there was dead body who look like they were even eaten, it was the first shots that warn her so she puts on her Pip-Boy a type of hand held bracelet? and detect radiation coming from him, they were raiders but so far it is not well explained how they got there and the radiation, are they from the outside world? it is suppose that until now nobody has been out side the Vault but this proof different.

Big fight starts at Vault 33, raiders mostly killing everyone, Lucy had a fight with her “husband” who end up stabbing her but she survive and safe her brother but the raiders leader, Lee Moldaver had plans for them. Lee is a bombing survivor although bombs happen 219 years ago so how did she survive this long? usually when this kind of apocalyptic scenario happen there is a new world order and some one to blame, Lee seem to be part of that new world order and had Lucy’s father to choose between her and the Vault 33 survivors, he choose Lucy so Lee had a bomb explode and kill some other Vault 33 hostages but not everyone died, Lee takes Lucy father to the surface as a hostage this is what force Lucy to go outside. There are details that I try to avoid so I mainly talk about the character motives and not the entire episode, this episodes are 1 hour long.

At first the series will be divided into three stories, there is Cooper Howard who I barley touch since his character The Ghoul appears towards the end without much context, we got Lucy and then there is Maximus. I have to be honest, I did not enjoy much this part of the episode for a few reasons and its not about Dane, I remember Xelia Mendez from The Wheel of Time, she did great as Renna, its about Maximus. Maximus is an aspirant, he is at a camp of the Brotherhood of Steel, its a kind of military organization the most advance with tech pre war era.

Going back with Maximus and Dane, Dane is refer probably as a non binary gender person from what I could find online, obviously this is not part of the game original story but I wonder how this would add anything to the series and if this character will re appear down the line, both are aspirants but lucky Dane was name Squire, each knight of the Brotherhood get a squire just like in medieval times who assist them on the field. Maximus was so jealous he actually put a razor on Dane’s boot so gets injure and sabotage the promotion wondering if he was next on the line but someone rat him out, Maximus is bully by everyone and always mad about it but he does nothing about it too, basically a coward and a cheater too, until that moment I seriously could not deal with him until he was interview Elder Cleric Quintus who gave him a chance after he kinda confess sabotaging Dane but at this moment Maximus kinda man up and told him he would give his life for the Brotherhood the is so much doubt from his character, he is a big guy who could defend himself but until now he was just the total opposite, I hope once he gets out on the field things change out if not he will be really annoying.

Its been a while since I had to write about a series with so many things going on at the same time and this posts really turn into long ones so I try to keep them as short as possible, I seriously do not believe online rating at the moment, feel the series is just too new and many people have not seen it yet, there will be those who will massively criticize it for multiple gender topic and how off its from the original story but to be honest if you are just like me and all you want is an action series with some drama and jokes then this is for you, besides Maximus I enjoy episode one and pretend to keep watching it, will try to fit recaps within the week depending on what else I’m watching.

The series has many details specially on Lucy side, all the things she knows and does, all the rules inside the Vault will be a perfect contrast with the outside world, the waste land, outlaws who are the total opposite and then comes in the Brotherhood with their advance tech and weapons who are probably trying to keep things in order as possible, they have a target, they looking for a men who has a dog but so far no explanation of who he is, its possible that the Brotherhoo Knights are just soldiers while others do the intel.

Sugar (2024) has really caught my attention, its not a series for everyone, I believe its a series for a certain niche kind of people who like certain style of movies, on a thread I mention its very Tarantino for multiple reasons so this recap will mostly talk about how you might enjoy or not this series moving forward. John Sugar the main character is a specialist at finding lost people, with a certain James Bond style it also reminds me at a not so popular movie of Nicolas Cage where he is hired by a widow to find a girl, different reasons but the end goal is to find a lost girl.

The reason why I like this series so much only on its second episodes its the style of production, the weird camera angles, the change in frames, mix images from 60s to modern 2000s on top of the mix of cultures from Japanese, Arabic, the guy speaks multiple languages and is very old school but over all a Movie Geek, Sugar (2024) is like you are watching Kill Bill Mix with James Bond on a kinda of time travel to match the contrast scenes from vintage to modern, its so awesome.

Right out of the start John Sugar presents himself as a private investigator, the series starts with a scene in Japan, black and white, old school zoom in on Mount Fuji with the classic circular shape closing in and moving into the next scene where John is looking for a kid that has been kidnap, sets the bait with some cash telling a guy he just left it down stairs, wtf that so silly but so it was on movies from the 60s. John is working for a Yakuza boss looking for his son who this random guy has kidnap and ask for ransom, the fight starts after the guy knows he has been discover and obviously John knows very well how to throw his hands around and tells the guy “I don’t like hurting people” when he got him pin down.

We continue with the classic vintage theme and silly actions, John is back at his hotel eating dinner what looks like Japanese on a robe and catches a fly that was buzzing around with his shop sticks, come on; then lets it go, right after this scene it shows a modern city he staying in but at the same time has contrast scenes of probably how the same city look back say in between 70s to 90s to finish off with him reading an email while the camera zoom in and focus on what he is reading again on a classic old school circular shape shade style. The combination of all this aspects makes it so so special that many might not appreciate but its a very nostalgic production.

Making a pause on the production and working towards the context of the series, John is back in US to meet his agent named Ruby, she is very aware that John is sick, she might not know all the truth about it but she can tell, Ruby tries to go into every detail so he can take care of himself physically and mentally, trying to take some load out of his work managing clients but John likes to work with their clients at a personal level sometimes going too too extra mile on the job, Ruby knowing John doesn’t like guns got him one but its the one Glenn Ford used on the movie The Big Heat, talk about manipulation. Ruby and John argue about a client he has recently take even after they already reach her and said John was not available but John has more than one reason to take this case.

I wonder this series with ever stop to amaze me with the production style and details to make John not your average private investigator, the guy drives a Corvette, don’t quote me but if I’m not mistaken probably be a Nassau Blue 60s Stingray, at the same time while he cruise the city you get this mix images from 60s cars and him going fast, on top we get all kind of different camera angles like when he is on the car the is a shot from the middle console of the car towards his face when he is about to get out of the car, I know I’m probably not giving much context about the episode but the truth is that there is no action, all talk and private investigator work.

The reasons why John took the job, well the client is a very famous Hollywood Movie Producer who John is a fan, an old guy called Jonathan Siegel whose granddaughter Olivia is currently lost, Olvia reminds John of a woman Jen who has not yet been talk about, I assume is someone John lost in the past either daughter, client or even a girlfriend although she looks to young in the pictures to be his lover so John had no option but to take the job, too many things at the same time were screaming at him to take it and Ruby things its all bull shit because probably he has manipulate her in the past.

Mr. Siegel has reach and age that he no longer cares for himself but he does a lot for his granddaughter, there is one particular scenario that complicates things and its that in the past Olivia turn out to be unpredictable, she was a drug addict but the last time Mr. Siegel saw her they were celebrating her two years sober, she has disappear in the past although Mr. Siegel feels this time is different that probably something happen to her. John is going to have to start from ground zero since no body have seen her in a while and the best start is her apartment where also her car is, in there he will find quite a few leads of people that saw Olivia on the past two months and the hunt starts.

Sugar (2024) has a lot of unique aspects that has nothing to do with Colin Farell great acting so far or the script, the way the episodes are produce, the shots, the music, the camera angles, the scene contrasts, everything about it visually is awesome and nostalgic at the same time for any Movie Geek, I’m not pretending to be an expert about the topic but at least that is how this series makes my brain react.

The character of John Sugar himself is very cool too, all smooth, collected, expert at many things and talks many languages, even at a point you might think who the fuck is so nice to others but Sugar is a guy who give people second chances even when they look like they have reach rock bottom because that is why probably Olivia is missing, Sugar also look like a guy of many secrets but he has too based on the type of clients he manage, this is a great series and I might be just a bit to excited but I think I give it a 9/10 for the first episode hands down.

Episode one was catalog as a Pilot episode and those are usually not strong ones so many don’t even consider it as a real episode and even few times its taken away from the production but in this case episode two of Parish (2024) I would say was stronger, I still have a hard time watching Gean Carlo trying to play the role of a bad ass because lets be honest he is not look like on, even during the times of Breaking Bad he was the elegant master mind behind everything, a business man , he most likely fit into the wise old retired wheel man role who know how to deal with the BOSS and even act as a boss.

To keep things short and not spoil the entire episode, he safe The Horse ass this time, sounds funny but truth is that I still don’t know his first name. On episode two they talk a bit more about their real business, human trafficking and the job Parish pull was basically to get a back of stolen passports that most likely belong to working people who someone brought and basically enslave them.

The Horse and his sister pays a visit to a man called Perry Lousteau, he also seem to be involve in the human tracking business, they talk about cutting the middle men meaning they will bring him all the labor he needs and even cutting his expenses to half of what it currently is, they mostly talk about servants and drivers so there is the chance that they not talking about his house but he must have some sort of business where he has if not hundreds of employees or workers probably at a farm or factory who would work for The Horse at half of the price, if not a third of what this guy Perry will actually pay for, Perry did mention that he is in but the middle man they getting rid of wont let this slide and I think that is why The Horse towards then end is involve on a shooting, I doubt they kill him in the second episode it just don’t make sense but Parish was at the wheel and got his son safe, this will put him high in the ranks and probably get him some trouble with Zenzo when he see his brother praise Parish for what he did.

Episode two did pick up the pace and I’m glad they did because if would be a total disappoint after episode one but I hope it will slowly keep improving, what really intrigue me right now is what is the story behind Parish’s son death if it happen because of old life and now he is going back to it, something I don’t like about AMC series is that they give out a big chunk of next episode and sadly I let the video run til the end since I was doing something else after I finish and heard most of whats coming up and its exactly that, Parish will have to face his wife for whats going on at the moment, most likely Colin will sell him out so it really interest me how Parish reacts, if he either go all in with The Horse crew or he tries to get out of all that trouble.

Parish (2024) : Pilot – Season 1 – Episode 1 – RECAP

Source

After watching TV Series for so long you kinda learn how to have a bit of patience with the story line specially on the first episode, some series take the first episode to present most of the main characters by telling part of their story and purpose without much going on other than then talking without much action or drama. Parish seem to be that kind of series, there was not a lot of action, you do get a few car chase scenes after all its a series about a retired wheel man but it was mostly talking than anything else, I hope I don’t have to drop it from my posts because to be honest trying to understand what to post about I have come to learn that there are some times I need to drop series and stop because they are not that interesting or there are better and new things to talk about.

Episode one present most of the main characters like Gracian Parish who they call Gray, his wife Ros and daughter Makayla who have mix feelings on how to feel about Parish son death, then on the bad guys side there is The Horse the gangster Parish ends up driving for and his brother Zenzo Tongai who is not as patience and Colin who to be honest I’m not sure for how long he is going to last, he is the one in trouble and suck back Parish into his old life besides Parish is drowning in debt.

The episode opens up with a scene from the future, even though Parish did get to drive a red Porsche Macan he is never stop by the police, this is a cool car chase that he ends up leaving the police behind, Macan GTS is very fast car that would leave behind that Crown Vic in a blink of an eye although it doesn’t show what variant Parish is driving, the character of an old retired wheel man does suit Gian Carlo Esposito with his grey hair and shades.

Parish runs a luxury taxi service type, I like how his character falls into all the details of a dedicated man to his ride, this reminds me of Jason Statham back in the day when he use to play the Transporter, another dedicated driver who look after his car more than anything else. Parish is also drowning into debt between tuition, mortgage and his taxi business probably not doing so well to stay up float so he is looking for help, legally; trying to get a loan from the bank but they already know how bad his debt problems are and he might not have a long enough record of keeping this business up float, all we see at his shop might be money he made from his old days as a wheel man driving for shady people.

Source

There is Sister Anne, she works at Saint Claude Church, she seem to run either an orphanage or day care not sure, Parish goes there to talk to her, trying to take a breath from everything going on, looking for some peace and advice that holds him up from going back to his old ways. I like Gian Carlo southern street accent, its not so common to watch series develop in the south so this brings a different surrounding to a gangster type content, not New York or Los Angeles which are the most classic ones. Sister Anne use to work with him for sure, she is fully retired too and feels lucky to be alive but different than Parish she is afraid of having to go back to that life although Parish is not, this is probably understandable because he kinda make it out, build up a business out of it, not so profitable but he was able to keep his regular life while she dedicates now to the church, I don’t think there is nothing wrong with it but Parish current life conditions in his mind he might feel as a winner, like he fool his old life so going back is not so hard, he wont think about it too much WHEN the opportunity presents.

Source

Colin and old friend from his old life present this opportunity to Parish, he is with business with The Horse, a gangster from Zimbabwe who needs a driver, at first Parish obviously said no, no matter how Collin ask for this only favor but it was actually very easy to convince Parish to be honest, next day he was at Colin’s place asking for the details of the job, they could have look for another way for this to happen and don’t look this predictable, probably put Parish on a tight situation rather than just the lack of cash.

Source

There are a good amount of nice cars showing up during the episode, Porsche Macan, Cadillac CT5-V, Audi R8, Mercedes G Wagon, even if this are base models still cool cars for the naked eye, but its more impressive when the wheel man do all kind of tricks with crappy cars and still gets away.

The moment comes and Parish meets The Horse who is a very cool men, its his brother Zenzo who is ruthless and probably after his brother power, its here when Esposito does his best work at been respectful but also from the streets, showing this is not his first rodeo and he is too old to be intimidated or treat like a kid by anyone including The Horse.

I think car guys would enjoy this series the most, it is a series that has started a bit slow and for now what I get is that the main focus will be Parish struggles and conflicts with his old life and how much trouble will Collin get him in, even makes he think that at some point Colin will betray him because to be hones the hole wheel man and car chasing wont build up this series, keep bringing the cool cars, give more details on them and going full throttle when the times come and this might turn into a good series to watch because the first episode did felt a little vague, like there was missing something. There is also a lot to be develop, looks like The Horse life is not as simple as it seems, he has his own problems with his family, he probably inherit the business from his father who is asking him for cash every month.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live: The Last Time – Season 1 – Episode 6 – RECAP

Source

Well it kinda happen exactly as I was expecting and to be honest I did not enjoy this episode that much, when the series started I said and thought that “The Ones Who Live” would probably be the best TWD spin off from the three that we were getting this year but the last episodes disappoint me in one way or another, from the very long and extensive arguing scenes between Michonne and Rick to the now rush take down of the CRM, Rick try for about eight years to escape and he couldn’t but Jadis was doing it for many years, yes she was smarter than Rick and join the CRM instead of fight it but she make it look too easy, same goes now that Michonne is with Rick they manage to take the CRM down in a single episode? there was nothing extraordinary that help them achieve this and now that Jadis is dead she is irrelevant, all she did was blackmail Rick the entire season.

– IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9859436/
– Platform: AMC+

Source
I have not found information that confirms this is a Mini Series the reason I mention this is because it feels like one and not that there will be a second season, after all TWD has a lot going on with three spin off on the same year but I think the big surprise down the line would be that all them collide with each other at some point. If there is a character I would be waiting for is Throne, now that Rick and Michonne took down General Bale I would guess she is the next one in command, Michonne did hurt her badly towards the end but never gave her the final blow.

Thorne was a true believer on Major Beale but she also like Rick specially after she went up in the rank and that’s funny because before that she most of the time was throwing things are him, Rick gets back from the crash site with Michonne with a cover story and Thorne believe him? wtf.

Source

Jadis is dead, why? because she was too cocky, Michonne was right when she said that she have miss the opportunity to take her and Rick down, she should have done it when they were sleeping, instead she prefer to look them in the eye before killing them, this makes reference to Gabriel but Jadis never actually kill him so I got no clue other that she felt cocky because she out smart them and was now in a position of power, we humans are so weak when it comes to holding power, it consumes anyone, that’s what happen to Jadis.

Michonne comes back with Rick to the CRM and her mission was to find the diary that Jadis kept on her room before the CRM swipe it clean once they figure out Jadis was dead, on this diary was her entire story with Rick and Michonne with the latest update of why “Dhana” aka Michonne was at the CRM, this would put Arcadia and her children in danger.

Source

Beale was a total idiot, he ones look at Rick in the eyes and ask him if he can trust him and Okafor knowing what ever Rick answer was probably a lie, a guy who have tried to escape for many years had the golden ticket to stay “dead” for everyone at the CRM but now decides to come back? if this was say a second time thing I would go for it and trust Rick but out of the trailer Beale decides to bring in Rick to the highest level there is for a CRM soldier, makes no sense and shows that Beale was not trying to out smart Rick, he was truly taking a gamble and believe in Rick, yes he offer him to bring in anyone he wanted into the CRM and that could have been the catch but that’s 50/50 I’m not buying it.

Source
At on this episode Michonne was not arguing with Rick for ever, I really like her performance towards the anger she felt during the briefing for the CRM next missions, how they were going to gas out everyone and only rescue 10% of the children, but then there are details like she have been missing for this long and nobody asks for her? Rick is back but Michonne didn’t have to report to anyone? at least Thorne knew Michonne was back at the CRM, Rick told her and now Michonne is wondering around doing what ever she wants freely to take down the CRM? cmon.

Source
The speech scene between Beale and Rick was interesting because he gave out details of the CRM operations, Throne was always talking about how she now understands everything and its clear for her why she belongs to the CRM, Baele detail the CRM plans to Rick regarding how this might be a lost cause so all he is trying to is defeat the odds, but the outcome of this conversation was too predictable, Rick was fixed on killing Baele no matter what happens, I never doubt this now that Michonne was on sync with him, a surprise was if Rick took Baele deal to bring in anyone he love into the CRM, could probably be easy for him but either if it was true or not same as Michonne, Rick could not deal with all the killing.

Source
Same as I have done before I’m trying to avoid describing the action scenes and talk more about the structure of the episode so I don’t ruin or spoil it for others but it was also predictable the fight scene between Rick and Baele, after all he is a man they could not take down from far distance, it had to be a close fight while been alone, this was Rick only chance and Baele was not match for him, actually I though it would be a harder fight for Rick but it was just too easy, another rush scene.

As you can tell from my comments above I’m not so happy with what happen towards the end of the series, I totally understand the goal was to reunite Michonne and Rick once again and escape from the CRM but they could have make it less easy for them, lets just think how they did all this in less than a year and Rick have been trying for almost eight years to escape? the only variant after Michonne got in is that Okafor was not around. If we compare Daryl Dixon series he was on a similar spot, trying to go back home and deal with Genet and her army but it didn’t felt this rush and easy for him to accomplish this besides she is still around while on The Ones Who Live Baele and Thorne are gone, they even play recording of how the remaining of the CRM have take actions to turn things around and not be the dictatorship that Baele was running, I would have to disagree with the internet on this one and only give this spin off a 7.5/10 while on most websites it got 8 and 9.

I don’t like what has become of this spin off for the last two episodes and I have my suspects of whats going to happen on the last episode, I just hope they are not that stupid to have Rick and Michonne single handle destroy the CRM on a single episode, I based this assumption on the advance scenes at the end of episode five, it shows Rick and Michonne back at Philadelphia, CRM HQ; looks like they taking the place down.

It looks like there is a second season although feels like they rushing things just too much or may be just me getting the wrong idea, I hope I’m wrong about it; six episode is nothing for a season, some might say its just two episodes shorter than the last two spin off first season but in two episodes the entire perspective of the story can change specially been episodes over 45 minutes that is half an average movie duration. Episode five feels like one of those episodes to kill time and explain part of the back story and that they did with all the kissing and loving for the first part of the episode then something almost similar with Anne aka Jadis, I simply didn’t like this episode neither, its a real buzz killer since the season started so good and then it is just a downtrend in terms of lack of action, cruelty, treason and cruelty, after all that is what sells on TWD not loving and kissing.

As mention in the introduction lots of smiling, kissing and making out between Michonne and Rick, not that I don’t want them to be happy on the story is just that we already had an entire episode of them arguing and kissing, can you just give them a new challenge? something that actually entertain because that’s the truth, I wanted to watch loving and kissing would watch another series.

I do like that this episode same as on other spin off gave us a different type of Zombie, like on Daryl Dixon spin off; walkers have mutated based on their environment surrounding both physical and behavior, this time a rock solid Zombie type shows up, they are still easy to beat if you have the right tools in this case rick has a iron fist so he can crack the outside of the zombie head while Michonne stab it with a iron bar, I would say this Zombies are also heavier so they are slower, that makes me think if they are heavier and rotten how can they stand still? probably this was a fresh one.

Rick and Michonne saved some locals who were fighting this Zombie, they explain how they have change because of the steam vents, not sure how that process works though, there are also some other zombies who are almost like melted because of the heat.

All this loving and kissing got Rick and Michonne weak and slow, they were moving around in a YELLOW pickup truck you can see from far away and throwing Ramen wraps on the road, they also gave the locals food after saving them but that’s normal since its the right thing to do although they did try to steal from them back minutes latter when they could pick up their guns, that didn’t go well for them, when it comes to fight Rick and Michonne set the bar very high even if they have no guns.

At least they didn’t entirely set the episode on fire an brought something interesting that will have some value in the future probably, Jadis was not always Jadis, she was once Anne an artist, she was also part of many other groups or communities in the past, as Anne she was in love with Gabriel, I remember him from the OG series, the guy was not always sane but he was OK. Jadis join the CRM because she was basically broken, she could not stand seen other community go down so this time around she wanted to be in control and power, thats what she gets out of the CRM and some how she was the only one to escape without others noticing at least once a year to meat with Gabriel, this shows she is smarter or at least better than Rick when you have to be cold and calculate things properly without feelings in the way.

That is exactly why she finds Rick and Michonne after their helicopter crash, even after they shoot a rocket to the building Anne/Jadis could not believe that it was so easy to kill Rick and Michonne, she knows them too well and knows they are warriors, survivors over all though to kill so she kept looking, follow the clues, the cans and ramen wrap on the road, the yellow truck missing on the crash scene, she knew they were alive until she quickly found them and almost got rid of them but she just talk too much, she miss her advantage and got cocky waking them up and giving them a speech before trying to kill them, its two against one, you cant shoot to places at the same time, one of them going to run or jump you and that is exactly what happen.

Jadis pulls the trigger and Michonne jump her, fuck her up badly on he rips area, Jadis enter desperate mode, loosing lot of blood, this is the type of entertaining I’m looking for not two episodes full of arguing and kissing.

It was obvious Jadis was going to die unless they come up to an agreement but she was just too cocky and proud, she wanted them dead, specially Rick so in disadvantage and hurt still tries to front Rick and pull a gun on him after she ask for temporary truce.

During this hole argument and Mexican stand up, there was the argument to go back to the CRM and change it, this idea came from the least one I though would say it, I even though she was trying to distract Jadis but Michonne meant it, she wants to go back with Rick so he can keep moving into the ranks until they have enough access to weapons and information, they could build a plan and kill say most of the high ranks on the CRM.

I really don’t know whats going to happen next, the idea of going back coming from Michonne got me out of balance, never saw that one coming and at first you can tell neither Rick but seems that’s the plan, Jadis is not on their way anymore and she told them where is their file. I suppose they go back, Rick goes up in the ranks and Michonne moves from citizen too although lets not forget that Pearl mindset has change after her promotion, she is now all in CRM and even if they manage to kill Major Beale they still have to deal with Pearl, she is a bad ass too that can bring on the fight, Rick probably is underestimating her or might think that she will join them, I hope not because then it would be just too easy for Rick and Michonne bring down the CRM.

Rick and Michonne are back at it in the wild, this is good because from now on the series will be more versatile in terms of whats going to happen next, its not anymore about CRM conspiracy but also surviving in the wild so possibilities are infinite. Before they came to an agreement to stay together an entire twenty four hour argument had to happen, this episode made me feel like I was in my 20s again having an argument with my girlfriend, those type of argument that last for days and not even how hard you try can’t come to an agreement, it was exhausting and I was constantly wanting to fast forward but that would ruin the episode for me so I had to stay put with all the bullshit of this episode, I have to say TWD does have a strong fan base because on IMDB this episode got a 9.2 with over 2600+ votes, WTF!

In my opinion this is the worst episode from the last three spin off considering this is the best spin off out of the three, it sounds weird but that’s just how I see it, besides there was nothing special about the ending, I didn’t like it at all but that doesn’t mean its a 1/10 that would be ridiculous just as some people score movies and tv series online, to be fair I would give it a 6/10.

On episode three after their mission, the CRM helicopter was heading back to Philadelphia during a storm, Michonne open the helicopter door and take Rick down with her without even knowing where they would land, there is no way she knew they were over water at that point, probably saw something from the front helicopter window but still. Landed in the water, went back to shore and got into a building where the entire argument starts, Rick immediately ask for the PBR (GPS) back since he lost his, to let know the CRM where they are.

This is if I’m not mistaken the first 20 minutes of the episode, every argument ends up with give me the PRB we need to go back, doesn’t matter how and how many times Michonne tries to raise the case that they have children back home waiting for them, asking for their father and Rick refuse to go back mainly because he fears Jadis will go looking for them because she is all in for the CRM cause and that implies to keep it a secret.

The next day after the storm Michonne is over arguing with Rick because he is the one who does not want to go back so she gave him the PRB and notice that the helicopter they were flying in had hit the building next to them, she save Rick by jumping from the helicopter, this means they are “dead” too, minutes after they notice this another CRM helicopter comes in and launch rockets to destroy the helicopter that had crash trying to leave zero evidence of the CRM behind. Another argument about the hole situation starts, my eyes role back thinking here we go again but Michonne this time cut the bullshit and decided to go home without Rick and he finally decided to go with her, wasn’t easy because the first time they try after another big argument there were walkers outside who stop them from leaving.

Finally after all the arguments and talking Rick explains why he could not go back with her, it was not the fear that the CRM or Jadis will go looking for them, Rick lost his memories, he forgot Carl face first and then fear he would forget Michonne too, that’s why he kept trying to dream about her, there was episode with Rick and Michonne eating in the park, I was like that never happen why this images, well it was Rick forcing himself to not forgetting Michonne face, that is why Rick couldn’t go back with her, at times he totally forgot what he felt for her and now that she is back he remembers but there is some weird confusion going on with him.

If you ask me this is not a confusing episode, its very simple, Rick try everything he could to escape the CRM and go back with Michonne for years, more than eight years trying to escape form the CRM even cut his arm to the point he start forgetting his love ones, like his son Carl and fear he forgets about Michonne too but when he finally took the desicion to go all in the CRM, when the military life suck him in, Okafor gave him a purpose again a life within the CRM by promoting him, days latter Michonne appears again on his life, the decision was easy go back with her but he didn’t he actually made things worst for them by taking Michonne back with him to Philadephia because Jadis now knows they together and I’m sure that most likely she will go after them the main reason for this assumption is because Rick knows way too much about the CRM and Jadis did mention that if they escape would be the first ones to do it, the CRM will lift every stone on earth to find them and finish them.

The Walking Dead: Bye – Season 1 – Episode 3 – RECAP

Source

Right now it feels like a great time for TV series with so many productions, great shows releasing and some about to end or finish their season like Masters of The Air and Halo, last year I felt there were not this many great series like The Ones Who Live and Shogun, 2023 TWD spin off stared a bit weak with Dead City even giving the impression that they were just trying to milk the cow a bit more although towards the end Negan took the wheel and ended very strong in my opinion.

The Ones Who Live is just getting better and this is only the third episode, more mysteries are been reveal on this episode at the same time it starts to make me feel like not trusting Rick or others, like Michonne is the only good one here. It is also confirm that no body has escape so far from the city and Rick has been the only one so far that had that many attempts and almost got off when he cut his arm.

I still don’t get why if the CRM does’t allow A (strong leaders) in, how Rick, Jadis and Pearl make it because all the CRM wants are sheep they can control and been citizens, Jadis now is high in the ranks of the CRM but then the same question comes up why she was allow inside? she is so higher than Rick that she actually got him by the balls making him take desperate actions asking Pearl for favors and I’m starting to think that Jadis knows about this.

Source
On episode 3 there were a few scenes with a lot of impact, Jadis been the only knowing about Rick and Michonne puts a lot of weight on him even giving him an ultimatum, if anything happens to her she left all the necessary documentation so they CRM knows about them, Rick beg her not to and let Michonne go but she is right about something, it was Rick to brought her back, she should have stay out, although Rick probably consider her chances to survive the CRM were higher been inside having him looking after her, its just sick how Jadis has total control over Rick to make him beg.

Source
It was a matter of time and circumstances for Michonne to show off  her killing skills, its a natural thing on her knowing how to fight and kill walkers and people too, she had one job; not to let others see this other side of her but she blew it off for the first time during her shift after she had to take actions to safe one of her co workers before a few walkers jump her, it does look like the CRM gathers the sheep only.

Source
Pearl different than Rick is a soldier, she follows orders, she actually didn’t like him although Major Okafor got them closer before he died, thats the only reason why she help Rick getting Michonne into Philadelphia, before Okafor died Mayor Baele ask Rick if he could trust him and Okafor like he was smelling what they were cooking and its no coincidence that now so quick after Okafor died both Pearl and Rick go higher in the ranks, in my opinion Baele is setting the bait to know what were Okafor plans and if both Pearl and Rick are still on it.

Source
Rick doesn’t give two shit about the CRM, Pearl didn’t but some how she got brainwash after her debrief when she was giving the Major rank. Rick is still trying to get away but now he needs to help Michonne escape, its better one outside than both inside the CRM, he had everything perfectly lay out, tries to trick Michonne but she could not go alone, lot of people died during her journey to find Rick so there is no way she is going back home empty handed knowing she did find Rick. I think this is very selfish from her knowing she has a kid back home.

Source
Pearl is going to pull ranks with Rick, the inevitable has happen and now all eyes are on Michonne who was presented as this poor women trying to survive, another survivor that was looking for a community to join, obviously what sold her off were her fighting skills and Pearl did advocate for her at first but now has no other option. She calls Rick and basically told him WTF? what I’m suppose to do or say about her when she is basically showing off all this talent to kill walkers, this force Rick to tell Michonne is over between them but she doesn’t buy it, the most interesting and dramatic scenes happen during a mission they were part off but I better not discuss that scene until next episode, that’s all the action shown during the episode so its better of you to watch the episode.

Since episode one I knew the hole CRM situation had Rick desperate to the point that he cut his arm to escape, this is usually wild animal behavior when they fell its over, when they are cornered with no where to go, this is confirm during his conversation with Jadis how he beg her to let Michonne go, I knew this spin off was going to be great because of the main characters but this is turning out awesome, not that much action between episodes but the drama generates peak dopamine, the best thing about this spin off is that cliff hangers between episodes are not that big of a deal, just enough to make you want to watch another episode  and enough not to make you mad because now you have to wait a week for the next episode.

Special Ops: Lioness – Truth Is the Shrewdest Lie – Season 1 – Episode 4 – RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog

In the spirit of conclusion I have decided that there are a few series I’m going to finish before moving forward, Special Ops: Lioness is one of them, I have recently been putting out other type of content that I wanted to start cover like articles about the Film Industry, Trailer reviews and soon I’ll be indexing data different but I still want to post my regular episodes recaps although they take me about four hours to do because of all the screenshots I take to put them into a “graphic representation” of the scene describing, at times it can be an exhausting hobby but I still like it or hate it depending on the day.

This series moves into split episodes, things never actually get to a conclusion in a single episode, they split the story here and there and episode five is the conclusion of four and opens the door to a situation I didn’t though at first but I think there is something going on between Cruz and Aaliyah, there is also the situation that Joe has been dealing with at home with her daughter Kate that got into a car wreck, part of the truth start go comes out like what her daughter really thinks about her and she also came up front with the reality that she is not the best mother but her reasons have valid grounds, she is a soldier after all and Joe’s husband has his own problems with that too, he can’t stand been with or without her, with actually turns a bit ironic because for been with Joe that’s her been on a mission she can’t talk about and that is killing Neal, looks like he can’t stand that situation anymore. Not much happen between Cruz and Aaliyah on this episode until the end they pick up on face time call where Aaliyah express herself/body just too much to Cruz and she notice it was too much so step back a bit, there might be a relationship brewing here but after all Aaliyah is like a bird on a cage made out of gold, she has everything she ever dream but at the same time has doesn’t own anything, not even her freedom.

On episode four Cruz went to a bar to party with Aaliyah and her friends where she got picked up by a guy who was a rapist, the guy drug her and pick her up after a fight started, Joe team got to her just in time on the woods where the guy was going to finish her on the spot, Joe took care of him and make him remember that moment for ever and think twice before raping another girl, Joe almost rip his balls apart, one kick after another. He never touch Cruz but she also didn’t remember a thing so she is was still confuse of what really happen but her team got there on time, well it was really close.

Source

As I mention Joe’s daughter Kate got into a car wreck, so at the moment she had to deal with Kaitlyn , Kate and Neal at the same time, traveling from one place to another, Kaitlyn took her to the hospital but made sure she didn’t over extend her staying since there was business to take care of after she lend her team to Kyle, well not really her team.

Kaitlyn has been very supportive with Joe, this entire story is making me think that Joe is either the first or only Lioness that actually survive a mission, on first episode when she had to pull the trigger and drop a missile on a terrorist camp after her asset got discovered she ask Kaitlyn for advice like they have been on the same situation before and most of the Lioness doesn’t make it back. While at the hospital Joe and her daughter Kate finally got that conversation that settle things between them, she is not a kid anymore, got pregnant and almost die on a car wreck on top she lost the baby, at that moment Kate went through life time experience, got her ahead in time so fast that her life has fast forward almost ten years because how she knows what is to be pregnant and loose a baby, may be she didn’t go through the entire experience but for sure will never forget, Joe also comes forward and admit she is a shitty mother for not been there for her but it is what it is, she is a soldier. Lastly but still an important part of the drama Kaitlyn asks Neal not to give up on Joe, he still loves her but Kaitlyn knows its not an easy task to deal with Joe and her line of work.

Both Joe and Kyle gets their asses set on fire by Westfield, who is really the man behind the Lioness program and Kyle was something that should have never happen, Joe’s team is not hers it is lend by Westfield who is way higher on the government rank but Kyle intel was good so there is still a way to cover the shit show that they did on episode four after getting Kyle informant out of custody.

After Kyle intel was confirm they get lets say “yellow” light?” they can proceed with the capture mission but can shoot back if they get attacked? it was a capture mission only all this because no weapons or explosives have been confirm so far but once the targets get to the house they got monitor Two Cups and the rest of the team saw things were getting way hotter than they thought.

This scene where the get to the house was very cool, the shooting, bit dark but it was fast and clean, after confirm guns and explosives they finally get green light so its a capture/kill mission but no body is going to capture anyone besides they lack man power, as Bobby mention its a two squad mission and they are probably out number by two, got to mention that Cruz job was on point so at least she didn’t mess up, well she confirm it herself “this I know” before they went out.

Mission over, Kyle mess has been covered, Joe knows her daughter is alive but will take time to recover there are a few scars from all this, Kaitlyn thinks its a matter of time before another terrorist attack in US soil and Joe kinda mess up when she went back to the hospital, she was probably in a rush and didn’t clean up her face she still had blood and softy Neal notice getting all fired up asking her if she is now a hitman, WTF?? she is a soldier he knows it deal with it, he sees blood every day at the hospital but when his soldier-wife have some on her face then he goes all drama queen?

Special Ops: Lioness – Truth Is the Shrewdest Lie – Season 1 – Episode 4 – RECAP - CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

I would really enjoy a second season of this series, from what I have found online there is actually nothing about it, the series had good rating for what it is, this is not a AAA series although came together very well, there is some cliche here and there but nothing that makes you want to shut down the TV, action scenes so far have been on point, not every episode had them but I can say episode 1, 2, 4 and 5 had been the best at least for me, all episodes have over 7.5 on IMDB.

Episode five I thought was going to be a bit softy like Neal but that action scene pick up the speed of the episode very well, the drama at home with Joe is almost done with only Neal left so I think we wont have to listen to her daughter nagging anymore how bad of a mother she is, that was very annoying for a viewer who wants to see action and not a spoil child so I think for the last three episodes action is going to pick up a lot, I hope they don’t get to finish the mission yet because that would give us more chances of a second season.
