Godzilla (2014) – MONARCH: Legacy of Monstser – RECAP

This post is a mix of things, first I got curious about all three movies that link to MONARCH TV series

By the time I made my first post about this new Monsterverse TV series I had only watch the latest Godzilla movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and it was very good in my opinion for the time, when I say for the time I mean there was not much interest on Godzilla and I would say it was one of the only movies when Godzilla and other monsters/titans show full body, clear image, during daylight because let me tell you this is the love and hate relationship with this movie, IT FUCKING SUX when it comes to showing Godzilla and the two other monsters in it that no body knew what the hell they were, my hope is that MONARCH make things right bringing a good story, few side stories from secondary characters and clear full body scenes from the monsters with details about from where the hell they come from and what type or category of monsters they are.

I could not post images of some of the scenes because they were dark as hell, even with my vr setup I had a hard time in a few occasions to identify the monsters and tell what was going on, I didn’t watch the movie because I’m a Godzilla fan, well I think I’m becoming one now; mainly watch this movie and the others because MONARCH is suppose to tie them up all together and that to me is interesting.

It’s interesting to see Tomatometer higher than the audience score, usually is the other way since the Tomatometer reviews are more harsh and professional meaning they might find and criticize a few things regular viewers like me wont, to me it was a 6.5/10, so I agree with a 66% or acceptance, problem with audience score is that there is always someone who shits on the score giving a 1/10 to that screw everything up for the average ratio, between 6 and 7 is fine but no more than that.

It feels very refreshing to watch this movie after watching a few episodes of MONARCH since this are the very same images and this is episode two, when they try to use a bomb to lure in Godzilla, at first the deal was to bring him close to the shore to study him, proof it exist but the ARMY decided to destroy it, detonating the bomb when it was close enough, after all they were funding MONARCH but no body expected Godzilla would survive the explosion absorbing all radiation so making the TV Series match exact scenes of the different movies is very cool and what everyone was expecting I think.

The movie starts with Dr. Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham, at first I confuse Ishiro with Hiroshi from the TV series but they are not the same person, Ishiro was way before Hiroshi although the MONARCH founders do not appear on this movie, Dr. Keiko and Bill Randa, see where I’m going with this post, I’ll be making reference to both the TV Series and the Movie like telling you watch the movies before the TV series.

Ishiro and Vivienne got a call from something they have found on a mine, inside a cave there was what look like a cocoon, there were two of them; but one of them was recently open and what ever came out of it left a huge hole on the side of mountain and a long trace, look like it either took off or got into the ocean, all this inside a way bigger skeleton probably the thing that put them there, Dr. Ishiro confirm it has to be a titan since there was a trace of radiation, second cocoon was inactive so they took it and put it a warehouse with other nuclear waste, stupid idea.

Next there was the couple of Joe Brody and his wife Sandra Brody who had kid name Ford, latter on Ford turns into a bad ass, Joe and Sandra work at a nuclear plant in Japan, sensors at the plant has detected some signal, they think its an earthquake but its not, this signal is important to the story because is what so far everyone recognize as the first indication that Godzilla might show up, what they call the signal of G day.

The Brody’s story is one of the cool things about the movie, they give it proper continuation and closure, when Joe detected this signal it was too late, the titan was already getting closer and the target was the nuclear plant, it was after the reactor, Sandra was a technician at the plant and in this case she was in charge to check there was no breach, again too late, worst part is that Joe had to close the door on her to avoid all that radiation to come up and watch her die, same time young Ford had to watch the nuclear plant collapse very close from school.

Ford latter on gets into the army, went on his first tour, had a wife and a kid, I feel Elizabeth Olsen aka Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlett Witch, mf hottest women on the MCU, could had a better part on this movie, she is a great actress in my opinion, she was Ford’s wife.

After the accident in Japan where Joe’s wife died he got obsess with the what and why it happen, they were taken out of Japan with the excuse that it was not safe because of the radiation, several times got arrested for coming back and Ford had to take care of him but he agree to go back one last time to help his father finish this, no surprise to Joe there was no radiation, it was all a lie, he also found old 3.5 inch disks, those things are so fragile; kept saying in there was all his data, come on by the time he came back and the bad environment those disks were trash.

For years after the attack the titan stay in a cocoon stage, so probably when it escape the island it didn’t had wings that’s why it left a trace on the ground and after it absorb all the radiation at the plant started his evolution.

Dr. Ishiro had a program where they were studding the cocoon, the reason MONARCH exist is not to kill this monsters but to study them because there is way more to know about them, specially where they come from, Joe and Ford got arrested at the base and while all this happen the monster got out of the cocoon and escapes but Joe got hit by a crane in the process and latter on dies when he was taken out of the island.

Here is when things start to get salty, fucking monsters are always on a very dark scenario, it was just a few times that I could get a proper screenshot of the monsters.

Military gets involve when the monster at Japan got out so they were tracking it down, they were not the only ones, Godzilla was also tracking down this monster so they met each other at sea where Ishiro insisted the Marine to leave Godzilla alone and let them fight, in the process cities would be destroy.

In fact the bat-type monster attack Hawaii in the process of meeting with the female monster of the same specie, it was a mess all scenes were so dark, to give you an example this were probably the only clear shots from the monsters I could get from this fight scene, most of the fight scene become irrelevant as you cant see shit but then there were few moments specially from Godzilla that compensate things so imagine the roller coaster of WTF WHY SO DARK, CANT SEE SHIT!! and then HELL YEAH GODZILLA IS A BEAST!!!

Remember how I mention it was stupid to put the second cocoon next to nuclear waste? fact it ate all the fucking nuclear waste absorbing radiation and getting huge stupid size to the moment the make bat monster was fully grown, this second monster escapes from the warehouse inside a mountain in Las Vegas to now meet with the male, destination San Francisco.

This are the scenes that I mention that compensate, form the monsters, it look like it was on porpuse, like it was a budget thing, first was the attack on Hawaii that was dark as fuck, couldn’t see a thing on top was at night, then when they arrive San Francisco everything was grey including the bay area like it was about to rain, I get it that when they started to move inside the city there was a lot of dust in the air from all the buildings that were getting destroy so is the part of the movie that compensate all the other dark scenes, although it is about to get WORST.

This is another killer shot, army send out soldiers to disarm a bomb that they were going to use against the monsters but its now on the city after the male bat got it, that’s the scene where it dive into the ocean grabbing the bomb from one of the army ship, soldiers jump from a plane with red flares, clouds of dust form staying below the sky so there was a air gap and all the red lines falling from the sky it was sick, another point for the movie, its going to fucking need it.

WHAT IN THE FUCKING HELL, this is when you end the movie so pissed off at it, the entire fight scene at San Francisco was so dark, sometimes gray some times just dark but in any case you could not fully seem them fight, obviously Godzilla kills both of the other monsters but as you can see on the image above before he killed the female Godzilla grab her by the head and shoot radioactive blue flames inside it melting the rest of the monster ripping its head off, bad ass ten seconds but over all very very very crappy fight scenes in my opinion.

If I had to split the movie into two parts, I could say that 50% of the movie was very cool with the clear monster shots, the soldiers falling from the sky, Joe quest to find out what really happen at the nuclear plant was very interesting, if you have watch MONARCH you would notice that it does makes sense with the Movies, there is continuation so for me it was not that bad because this movie was informative and entertaining but if MONARCH didn’t exist and I only watch it or say went to the movies I would end thinking that all Godzilla movie sux and its piece of shit, it is not but it would be my first reaction probably after half of the movie was dark

Fallout Tv Series 2024 – Fails before start?

Its not very often that I make a post about a trailer although this is a game adaptation to a TV series that many have been waiting for and past weekend drop a few trailer from other very popular TV Series, I have recently read a few post online and watch videos about how good or bad could this series be, for me it has not started so I can not tell if it will be any of the two, although I can give my opinion of my first impression and how I think some people feel about it based on what I have read or watch.

Fallout TV Series might fit, didn’t want to say fall; into a problem that seem to be eating alive all kind of good story or character now days, for example very recent Bob Iger from Disney said about their productions

“movies should “entertain first, not [push] messages”

Fans, that’s not me; want to watch a production as close as possible to the original story, Fallout has six games in total with probably plenty of material to make more than three seasons but there are already signs that the story is far from what the games are on top signs that the TV series will be pushing messages of awareness instead of focus on a post apocalyptic fiction story at the same time making it as close to what the game is.

From my understanding and it makes sense to give that suspense to the story no body knows who drop the first nuclear bomb but as it is shown on the trailer it was not one but many of them, by now nuclear shelters were a thing that there were many faults, on the TV series the main character Lucy, was on Vault 33, number on their uniforms and at the end on first image; I don’t know if the first episode starts with her going out because latter on the trailer she is shown inside the vault, probably they tell the story with a moving time line going back and forward, that is a common thing now days, point is she wants out and some of her partners did not like the idea, probably try to stop her as there is a guy on the floor and her lip has blood, this tells us Lucy probably knows how to throw her hands.

Different that most vault or silo TV series, Lucy makes it out of the Vault and starts exploring the Earth, everything is destroy, almost a huge desert although there is still water oceans exist, anything that remain out of the Vaults was most likely affected by radiation or climate, this is going to be a creepy show, look at the size of that cockroach, that’s what they call a rat-cockroach, things are the size of a Dog, there will be all kid of mutant creatures, some bigger, some totally different, production will let their creation fly with this creatures for entertainment purpose.

These scene right here is suppose to be off the game timeline, the explanation for this is that California can’t be this bad at the time the TV Series is happening, this speculations come from the fact that at the time of the series there is already a new order taking place, the NCR (New California Republic); trying to reestablish society, Fallout world is full of multiple tribes or groups of people from raiders, mutants and there is the NCR trying to bring everyone together under one regime, we won’t know if there is a timeline issue until the series release on April 2024 but fans need to understand and this is for everyone watching anything on TV, if its not a documentary it won’t be 200% accurate or not even close, that seem to be a new trend, I understand those who dream about watching their favorite character on a Movie or TV series but entertainment is first and by entertainment I mean money for the studios who produce them, I don’t make the rules.

There is going to be a lot of shooting on this series, from scenes inside the vault, things are not great, people are loosing their minds, not sure if its because they are sick of been lock down because everyone goes wild, like the women on this picture with a fork on her eye shooting at everyone, this images gives me vibes that this will be a very cynic type of series meaning might be the perfect scenario to push “messages” even during the trailer Lucy mention how she never imagine things would be like that outside the vault, she always had everything to survive inside and things are very different outside. For me most of this behaviors from a character don’t matter as long as its entertaining but the problem with that is they tend to deviate from the original story and that’s when true fans who have play the game in this case get piss off because the character is not acting as on the game, this is the production using the movie as a way to promote certain social messages trying to fix the world but shitting on the TV Series that is suppose to be a Game adaptation.

The Steel Brotherhood look very bad ass, this probably going to be one of the great attractions of the series, seen them shooting massive guns, fighting all kind of bandits, mutants and raiders, with their main porpuse as describe on Fallout Fandom Page, paramilitary order with chapters operating across the territory of the former United States … core purpose is to preserve advanced technology and regulate its usage; so I’m not sure if they are going to make tech illegal for others to use, after a nuclear war, holocaust like what is shown when all the Nukes hit USA, tech will become rare and powerful to have, most people will be riding animals or walking while the Steel Brotherhood transport using vehicles like the Vertibird.

The men or in this case based on game description Ghoul above, describe as The Ghoul on IMDB; might turn to be one of the main characters, hard to say if he will be friendly to Lucy but he will have his own story of how was his past life before the holocaust, there is a scene of him riding a horse wearing a Cowboy uniform yellow and blue with a girl most likely his daughter, the moment nukes hit the ground, on the game Ghoul are describe as men who survive the wasteland, feeding from radiation.

Bellow The Ghoul they show Maximus, at first he is seen flying on a Vertibird and now running after they get attack, he is the only one not wearing a Steel Armor, that factor makes him special to the story, as a regular viewer and not a fan who knows the story this tells me right from the start there will be multiple stories that at some point come together, so going back and forward on different timelines means to understand the series you will have to pay attention to it.

From the point of average viewer the series seems great, I expect a lot of comedy since when things are over exaggerated tend to funny and some times gross, action scenes look very cinematic, on the trailer its mention that the studios behind The Boys, if they can tone down the series it probably gets to that perfect balance where anyone can watch the show and don’t feel like its too cynic because that’s the main topic here, its everything goes on the wastelands and Lucy now has to survive, she wanted out and now has to learn this new world and find a safe place to stay to adapt, my opinion is DO NOT expect Fallout to be a top tier series like The Last of Us or House of Dragon.

The story might not be 100% as the games
They probably will rush things out

But if you are only looking for a series to kill time, laugh, a few dopamine rush and have that desire of exploring a new place, what would be Earth after a world wide nuclear bombing then I think Fallout will be an ok show, from the start a 7/10 its not crazy, probably a similar case like The Rings of Power where its not 100% as the original story but the action scenes, the production, the actors make it up to be an ok series.

Personally I don’t care if a Movie or a TV Series is “Canon” or not, I’m a fan of many stories and characters and if someone makes content that is good, entertaining out of this character and changes a couple of things as long as I have a good time I personally I’m fine with it, people have to accept, they don’t have to understand but to accept that is how the entertainment business works, games, comics, most adaptations wont be exactly as the original story for many factors, budget, time but a the same time producers, writers, they have to be very cautious not to rush things or deviate too much, for example Secret Invasion to me was an ok TV Series until episode five, shit hit the fan on episode five, they totally screw up the ending and I’m sure many Fallout fans will be led down by this tv series because the script and the story might not be the same as the games, six games that’s a lot to digest.

The Fall of the House of Usher: A Midnight Dreary – Episode 01 – RECAP

On my short time on Hive I have written about a couple of different series always trying to narrate what went down on certain episode but there are a few of them or actually different format content that is kinda hard for me to build up on my post like Basketball, Futbol, Comedy and now a narrated story on third person that is Fall of the House of Usher, the main reason because it takes time, when the story is narrated details are everywhere that create an image on your brain of how people react in at the scene, for example there is one part when Roderick said “Yes Im putting a bounty on your head” I can easy see his daughters with an amaze expression like WTF while his son Perry laugh at the rest, then that makes me react in the same way when writing my post, try to bring as much details possible with how I put up all this images trying to make sense at the same time giving my opinion on text, basically is a combination of text and images trying to tell a story.

The Fall of The House of Usher to me seem like a very cool “horror” story, not necessary horror like possession and demons but there will be a lot of killing, probably blood on a lot of scenes, there is revenge, a combination of all kind of evil and bad feelings everything happening within a family that is mainly hold together by a bank account, Roderick mention this when talking to his wife “….the only thing that they fear the worst is been out of his will” referring to his sons and daughters who are always close to him, including their loves one, if you look from the outside anyone would think they are such a perfect family always together but the truth is that the core was only him and his sister Madeline, I get to this conclusion based on episode one only, probably with the progress of the series my opinion changes, after all money is the only thing that can buy souls.

Episode one was very entertaining and at times it will spook you, keep you on the edge of your seat for a few minutes, does a good job at presenting the main topic of the series, it works with time lines going back and forward, already telling you whats coming up that is the death of all his sons and daughters, who have to do with their death and that even after many years his “dead” mother is still lurking around, I would agree with IMDB rating and give it a 7.5/10

Episode one starts with Roderick and his granddaughter next to him, at church; three of his child have died, they are now six of them dead, church is empty, I would assume because he wanted like that, his family is so prestigious if people are let in it would be a total shit show taking pictures, asking questions, people protesting, the Usher family was at a stupid level rich so there will always be those who hate them just for having that amount of money without much reason.

Roderick keeps having this hallucinations of a women with a mask and his dead child, they all had dramatic deaths, he even see them at the church all butcher up from the different ways they die but only him can see them.

Roderick is on the pharmaceutic business, he is at the rock star level, press is always after him and probably why the church was empty but there is one man who only wants one picture and that’s Roderick behind bars, Carl Lumbly does Attorney Dupin who has been after Roderick and his entire family for a very long time without luck, they are all always shield, bulletproof from everything in life, that’s how much money they have that no body mess with them besides Roderick seems to be the type of guy who knows how to use and control power and nut just money.

The creepy story begins when Roderick invites Auguste, Augi; to his first house where he use to live with his mother and sister, when Roderick got enough money he not only bought the house but the entire neighborhood and kept it the same, let it rood because he did went through hell and back on that place many times because of many reasons so the place work as a reminder that if he went through that he can overcome anything, that is my opinion after Roderick tell Auguste why he kept the place.

Roderick is ready to give up, accept all charges and go to jail but it seems he wants either Auguste to help him solve a mystery or help him escape a problem, creepy his dead mother shows up behind Roderick, can’t see it on the screenshot but she is there, this is when the horror side of the story kicks in.

We start with Roderick hell as a kid, live with his mother, Eliza; who didn’t believe in doctors or medicine, at a point she got very sick, all her life work for a prick William Longfellow, CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, she devoted her life to that job but the moment that needed help and he was their only option William treat them like shit, I guess Eliza had a grudge against William probably for all those years, she always told her kids to stay away from him at all cost, she must had some strong reason.

Elize dies for unknown reason, seem stupid but I guess its part of the story to make the audience feel sorry for Roderick and his sister Madeline, they had to build casket out of old wood and bury his mother in the backyard like a dog, big WTF; they had no family? no money? it was the 50’s but come on, still I get the writer, they trying to build that feeling of sorrow for the kids.

Remember how I mention Auguste was behind Roderick, his business and family, well during a trial he mention, no body confirm if this was true or not; that after many years of been behind his case he finally got a member of the family to confess and will serve as witness against the Usher family, this fire up Roderick against his children badly.

One episode one they dont go into deep details of what each of his children does, few details but not their entire life

They had different personalities, some care vary much about the family money, few don’t, Frederick been the oldest male born waiting for his father to die to keep everything, Perry seem to want a life style of fame to the extreme, still there was three things that unite them, their father who rule the family with iron fist, aunt Madeline who is just as ruthless or worst than Roderick when it comes down to business and money.

For now as I mention not many details about his child but after the trial Roderick calls for a family meeting, he got all of his family members to sign an very nasty NDA that will keep the out of the family for good if they were proof to be the mole within the family, he was straight and didn’t loose any time to put a bounty on their head, $50 million all cash, no taxes, no bullshit for the one who brings the mole, they already know its one of them its a matter of time and greed to find out who is it.

While the episode keeps very clear the money situation at the family and that all six children will have a nasty death it still a mystery of how this all happen, the women with the creepy smile, Verna; a women who they Roderick and Madeline met on 1979 new years eve at a local bar, she use phrases like “To 1979. May it rest in peace” or “the future is coming” like she knew something was about to happen while she kept them both at the bar where they were suppose to stay just for a short time, she seem to be the one appearing to Roderick at church, there is also a Joker who shows up inside his car when he was leaving church and then falls backwards, bleeding from his knows telling Madeline its time, but time for what? is Verna really who kill his child? is his mother dead but still wondering around their old house?

Movies has turn smiles into something creepy and evil, with proper makeup their eyes pop and creates this image of people been posses by something looking very evil, like a new thing from horror movies, I feel like that is a key element to this series, we will see Verna smiling a lot, episode one does a great job of giving you just enough information about how the family members die and probably who did it without too much so you can figure out everything from the start, gives the beginning and the end but not the details and that’s what the others episodes will be base on, stretching the story enough, clever way to create a tv series narrated by the main character Roderick, this is an eight episode mini series there has been some time since I saw a horror base tv series so I’m really going to enjoy it although covering all the details on a post can be a little tedious because it makes a long post, longer than usual.

Secret Invasion: Harvest – Season 1 – Episode 5 – RECAP

Episode five of Secret Invasion gives me a good idea of why viewers and fans were so mad about this series because you don’t necessary need to be a hard core fan to get to that conclusion, things really pick up a pace here and it was just too fast, the series at least might need another two episodes so it doesn’t feel that way, things did happen but they were closing matters scene after scene, probably concluding things just too fast.

Gravik is still after the Avengers DNA, he has a couple of abilities so far like transforming his lengths, arms; into roots so he can massively extend himself, pierce and make them also way bigger and heavy, another power he has is to regenerate himself from creating energy and what looks like super strength beast type but he still after other super powers but if you actually think about it Iron Man is very smart, Gravik is already strong as Hulk, may be control lighting like Thor but is that an ability of the hammer or himself?, the rest of the Avengers they all have suits or some other weapon except Captain Marvel and Captain America so what would he really need? only one I can think of is Captain Marvel’s powers so he could fly? he keeps talking about the Harvest but not Gravik or Fury go deeper of why unless they only fear/want the outcome mix of powers that could end up into something extraordinary, I feel like the episode has lack of meaning or motivation because the war between humans ain’t happening at this point after Fury clear things up by rescuing the President and soldiers saw Skrulls on the field, is up to Rhodey try to convince the president to start war against Russians.

I found really cringe how after saving the President Fury feels all tough takes a chair and puts in front of the hall door where the president’s room is at the hospital, not only because I knew he was not going to do shit, after all he is just human and for sure would not kill Rhodey on the spot if he comes close, besides he is never alone.

I suspected right, Rhodey did show up and was not alone, he is a Skrull, has the government infiltrated so either all the agents with are human tricked thinking Rhodey is himself a human or a bunch of Skrull that are up to date of whats really going on, he has Fury by the balls with the video that shows up him killing Maria at the Russia Bombing trying to put more dirt on Fury, he had no other option to leave before getting killed of before people come after him when the video goes public so yes Fury didn’t do shit and that’s why the scene of him sitting at the hospital looking all mean was worthless. I don’t appreciate when writers take a character and make it look what he is not, Fury has only one super power, same as Batman, Iron Man, that’s his mind so been tough is not it.

At Skrullos, Gravik is back and desperate, his plan to attack the US President and make it look like it was the Russian failed, although he did kill Thalos but Pagon, we can say Gravik second Skrull in command; was kind of mad at him and call him out because he had the chance to kill Fury and never did like he still a child waiting for Fury approval of attention. I have to give it to Gravik, Pagon was not looking at the big picture, Fury is the only one who knows where is the Harvest. To give a bit more of context, The Harvest is the recollection of the Avenger’s DNA after the New York attack, Gravik knows of its existence because he was one of the Skrulls that work on that mission, lead by Fury a group of Skrulls were send out to collect and clean up Avenger’s DNA from the battle field, I can’t imagine how they did that, the reason? not sure either because as I mention only a few really has super powers, the rest are humans with great skills using special suits or weapons.

At MI6 Sonya is cleaning up the house, taking down every Skrull she can find starting with the SIS chief Derrik, at first even Fury himself though that governments infiltrated by Skrulls was very unlikely although not impossible but after Thalos told him there were a million Skrulls at Earth, that number change things for him and put him and Sonya on alert that anyone could be a Skrull, but Sonya was a bit ruthless, shooting first and asking question after, its like she can smell them, latter on you will see why I say this.

Back at Skrullos after Gravik kill Pagon in front of the rest of his soldiers a revolution started, a group of other Skrulls understood Gravik was wrong, only those who were brave try to take him down but it was too much for them, Skrulls special ability is to shape shift, they are stronger than humans but not at Super Skrull, not at Gravik’s level, when they jump Gravik and he loose his human form intermediately he got a bit taller and bigger, everything about him compared to other Skrulls that have show up so far look stronger, eventually he beat up everyone and make an example out of Beto, a Skrull who G’iah got into the camp; cuts his throat in front of everyone. I know this series could be intended for teenagers too but the fighting and killing scenes are just a bit turn down, there is not much blood, after fights characters don’t look beat up and specially with Gravik fight scene there is something that I constantly criticize and that’s how the transformation scenes are soo short you cant really appreciate it, its just seconds until he turns back to normal, that’s really disappointing.

On her journey to clear up MI6, Sonya now locates Dr. Rosa Dalton, who is the lead scientist of Gravik’s Super Skrull experiments, she was working with her husband but here jumps in Sonya who right away knew Dr. Dalton is not himself anymore neither, after taking all the info that Sonya need she burn down their house and took them with her but Dalton attempt to take his “wife” Rosa as hostage and put a gun to her head trying to escape, little did he know and Sonya puts a bullet to his head some how she knew he was a Skrull. At fist I thought I would not like Sonya, this was back when she came up on episode one and had a conversation with Fury but I really like her, she is funny AF and always ahead of others.

In his attempt to get the Harvest, Gravik tries to use Skrullos as leverage, ordering Rhodey to get the president to bomb Skrullos with the excuse that its a Skrull hideout at Russian soil, only problem is that the right way to proceed is to have the Russians work with US to take out the Skrulls but then again who is not a Skrull? they just hold this scene and nothing really happens about it on this episode, I’m ok with that, I don’t think they are going to blow up Skrullos, not because there are Skrulls but because that would be start a war with Russia at the same time.

There was a very cool shooting scene at Priscilla’s place, G’iah goes looking for her to bury her father Thalos, Skrulls has certain ways and traditions, some of them G’iah didn’t know about but she wanted to give her father a traditional Skrull funeral, G’iah might disagree with her father believes but still love him very much and now feels she must avenge him, bring down Gravik, after all Thalos was the OG Skrull general on Earth but he became old and soft.

This last scene with Fury and Sonya getting up to date after she picks him up from the air port was cool, it gives more context to the Harvest, he gave her more details on how things really happen and why Gravik knows about it, but the part that I like the most is how Fury explains his only super power is his mind and that he doesn’t need anything else to beat Gravik here comes the phrase “We cant keep depending on these superheroes”

First four episodes of secret invasion were fine, I didn’t see any problem that was critical to me, the story was at an ok pace and not many details were lost but episode five turn things around, as I mention there was a void like some scenes needed more time to digest, I also think that from the start some how the story should make clear that the Avengers were not coming to help period, I think that probably mislead some viewers but not necessary the reason why I feel things start to rush, the Sonya scenes trying to clean up the UK and their agencies felt bit short, now that I think about it, it has been the same every time she shows up, the Fury scene at the start of the episode didn’t help at all, I would prefer if it was the opposite saying he go and look for Rhodey and face him or something different but sitting there like he is Captain America make his character look stupid.
I look up the ratings per episode at IMDB and you can tell how episode five and six are what took Secret it Invasion from a solid seven to a six down the drain, so I do not expect things to get better, some say its super hero exhausted but its really not, its the attention to detail and taking the time to explain things at a pace that viewers don’t feel things are rushing up, this are the moment I would expect them to milk the story and they don’t, if it had to do with lack of time because they were short on staff, Hollywood strike; then it was better just not to release and do it properly,

Episode five of Daryl Dixon will answer many questions, from why Daryl ended in France, why Genet wants him, I would not say dead but lock down at least even before Codron, Daryl always kept saying he ended up in France because he join the wrong people and he was looking for something new out there but on this episode the truth comes to light, same goes for Genet experiments with Zombies, everything comes together and start to build up for next season.

I believe this new format of six episode season for spinoff series can’t build up enough momentum for itself with the short amount of episodes, a lot can happen in one hour with the magic of TV, adding two or if possible four episodes more then gives the story enough time for one last kick, on Daryl Dixon spinoff the series is going to fall short and viewers will have to wait until season two to really find out why he left home and now is trying to get back to Carol, we now know how he got to France but not what exactly he was looking for.

Not much is reveal about the Nest, the place where Azlan and Daryl are taking Laurent, from his description all been said is that its a quite place, peaceful and might be an island from a watch Azlan carry with the Nest engrave, the name Nest most like was given after the Zombie Apocalypse, living in an island is one of the most reasonable places to be at during such times as long as you have a way to go in and out of the island, after all Zombies can’t swim, but I wonder if they float?? on this very same series we saw a Daryl been attack by Zombies under water.

I took this screenshot above mainly because it reminds me of the original Walking Dead series, how many times we didn’t see Daryl pushing a bike with his cross bow on it, such a classic it made its way to his spinoff, he cross path with Jones a man who has a camp, looking for hunters who want to work, Daryl is out of gas so makes sense if he gets paid to buy some and get back home.

At the camp there were others wanting to work with Jones, the man behind this camp, paying everyone was Dr. Lafleur, who was paying very well for Zombies, even more for fresh ones but that open, rules were simple

No fights
No stealing
Nothing sexual

I get the two first rule but what the hell is sexual about a bunch of guys hunting Zombies, its the apocalypse so I guess there are not many women around so some might change their sexual preferences, who knows.

Daryl got to work and start impressing other with his skills, if he was getting paid for catching Zombies I guess he was going to pull a Raikkonen, for F1 fans; and make the company go broke with the amount of Zombies he was getting, one after another, the part is that he works alone meaning he doesnt have to share his profits with anyone while the rest does.

Daryls always mind his own business but does not share or promote abuse, there was a guy a the camp who knew shit how to hunt, wanting to join others to team up but no body wanted him so what they do? there was this guy Juno, white beard with red hat; motherfucker killed the kid and sold him as a Zombie, Daryl got into a fight over it because the guy even had rope marks around his neck so he was killed, Jones didn’t seem to care it was still a Zombie and they were all getting paid so both Juno and Daryls gets kick out the moment the fight starts….to be continue

On another subject, our boy Quinn was living like a fucking king, a lot of people die and a lot of people left Paris, a wealthy city with a lot of opportunities for those brave enough who stay and we willing to take it, that was Quinn, he got everything, the mansion, the luxury, wine, paintings, servants, everything anyone could dream off, he also had his Queen, Anna; until after many years destiny brought him back Isabelle, the women he was dating before the Zombie apocalypse who left him behind to safe her sister that had Quinn’s son on the way, Laurent, that’s a Mexican tv novel right there.

Poor Quinn flew too close to the sun and is about to get burn, never ever mistreat a women specially when she got enough dirt on you, not that you have but specially not under certain circumstances, in the case of Quinn, Anna knew everything about him, his business, deals with Genet, enemies. On top of that Isabelle only got with him until she make sure Laurent and Daryl got out of town safe, when that happen she was about to kill Quinn but her dark days were over, she might not be a hard core nun but she was no murder, she could not do it.

On the other hand Anna did throw Quinn into the lions den, the moment she had a chance fuck him up badly, Quinn was invited to an event at Genet base but when he and Isabelle arrive Genet already know all the lies Quinn told her about Laurent and Daryl.

This duo, oh since the day they met at the convent, Daryl constantly gets piss off at Laurent, mainly because he is so naive and that is Isabelle fault, this time he did one of the most stupid things and that’s letting go the boat because he didn’t want Daryl to leave him, Isabelle fault again for not raising him to be a men and not just a kid in a bubble, they had no other option than walk, to make things worst that night their camp got attacked by a few Zombies that killed Azlan.

So predictable, the moment they start walking a patrol was passing by, Daryl gave the watch with the engrave of the Nest to Laurent and told him to go away, he will take care of them but he didn’t and gets caught too, you can tell how piss Daryl was when he notice Laurent got caught too, he sacrifice himself for nothing.

They both get transfer to Genet place where she is hosting and event, a display of her new warriors, her plan with Laurent is to make people in France believe Laurent is on her side since he got so popular.

I got now clew when the memo that said “If you fight we send you to the Zombie ship” got pass around, out of no where Daryl and Juno get send to the boat they were putting all the Zombies, the ship was also a lab so it seems they travel the world by sea, during this time they make experiments and kept getting Zombies from the never ending supply.

This is the reason why Genet wants Daryl dead, he was the one who got out and fucked up everything, he trick the guards to get out, kill a few of them, in the process a container got on fire, this container was a mobile lab, creating a big explosion that fucked up big part of the boat and all the progress to the drain.

Episode five was very entertaining, the only detail missing is why they got send to the boat, that doesn’t make sense and they probably skip the part, if you fight you get send to the boat, everything else was great, this was really a satisfactory episode because now it makes more sense how Daryl got to France and Genet experiments too. On previous episodes all we saw was a Zombie getting injected who went crazy to then had his head explode but on this episode we saw Daryl fight a Zombie like it was a fucking fighter, he move different, was fast, no intelligent but almost had him besides the Zombie took everything Daryl throw at him, I wonder if Daryl jump off the boat if the Zombie would follow him, probably the Zombie didn’t because of the explosion.

This series is getting better but now I only have one episode left to watch, my only concern about long series episodes, those that are close to one hour is that there is a fucking tone of scenes I like to screenshot because they give sense to the story, leaving me with over 30 screenshots every time I make a post like this, the editing process takes me about two hours plus another hour writing the text, still this is my hobby that now I have found a way to monetize thanks to Hive.

Usually on Saturday I only post once but today I wanted to do a back to back Walking Dead Spin Off post since there is the Mexico GP I want to write about but also want to continue this two series I’m about to finish specially because there is another spin off about to start next year.

Episode three of Dead City was pack with action when Maggie, Negan, Tomaso and Amaia try to take over the stadium where The Croat was but it all look odd how nothing went according to their plan, I get that Ginny fucked up half of the plan but still it was like The Croat had everything plan to slip away leaving them behind fighting a mass of Zombies inside the stadium, main characters got away but the rest of the crew that was with them not, Negan end up splitting because after been the bait to lure The Croat out he ended as the prey, he is an old silver fox so he knows how to defend himself and survive but it was a different story for Amaia and Tommaso who took the sewers as their route to escape from the stadium, it was full of Zombies but there were some really weird things down there like an entire wall of flesh and fat don’t know from what exactly and then this three on one Zombie on the cover image, on this episode a couple of things that were reveal start to give closure and sense to season one of Dead City, opening the door to Season Two that has been approve already coming up next year but it would depend if Hollywood strike ends.

After everyone try to look their way out of the stadium Negan end up been prisoner of Marshal Armstrong who even after he safe him from the void, The Croat throw Perlie of the stairs to the void showing some good faith to Negan; I mention on my previous post that it was like he wanted to be friends with Negan but you never know with this crazy bastards it might all be a trick to get you, thats how you survive.

Negan tries to get into Perlie good side, remind him how he safe him from The Croat, how he can get a boat so both get out of the island but Perlie has everything figure out, after all he knows very well New York, he was from the Bronx and knew he need no boat, all the need was the dock that floats, he is getting Negan justice one way or another.

They kept going on their way to the dock so they could get out of the island but at a point they were cornered by Zombies, force them to get into what looks like a school, inside the find the remaining of a person who suicide, most likely was alone and could not handle the situation, either out of food, water, alone and setup a stand with books that held an ax, there was a bottle probably of some kind of booze next the corps on a table, this remind Perlie of his brother who he recently discover dead in his old apartment, his brother did something similar and left back a letter. It must be a very exhausting situation living like this, you don’t know when its going to end, you constantly have to look for food, watch out for your safety because not only Zombies want to eat you but humans might want to eat you too or raid your place, probably worst than living in a place at war.

Negan has change and its not the same man he once was, I kept saying this through all episodes, he tries to escape from Perlie but at some point he catch up although was not in a position to fight Negan, Perlie is hurt badly on a leg and might get caught easy by Zombies, Negan stops and help him, not been the man he use to be is going to become a problem for him soon, I think this might happen sooner on episode six.

Tommaso, Amaia, Maggie and Ginny are walking through the sewers, trying to get as far as possible form the stadium and here is where everything comes to light, on second image above Tommaso goes behind one of this barrels, take of his backpack to pull something out of it.

Turns out he is now the luckiest man in the entire Zombie Apocalypse, he just found two full bottles of oxygen with their mask and everything but he didn’t count that Maggie was way more sharp than he is and saw him taking the oxygen bottles out of his backpack, then she starts connecting the dots and figure out it was him who told The Croat about the plan, it was Tommaso all this time and that’s how The Croat got away and they stay trapped, when they were all corner at the stadium inside the octagon he was the only one missing at some point and came from the back to help them, this was no coincidence, he might not know exactly how things were going to happen but was way more steps ahead than the rest so that make him look like the mighty hero of the night, saving everyone ass. Maggie end his theater and take off the mask, letting Amaia know all the truth but latter on her pants got on fire too liar liar, pants on fire.

They had no other option and kept going, is not like they would go back or stay there, on this series every single man or women that act as a cheap bitch, a sell out, a snitch dies one way or another and some times pay back is so sweet, the sewers not only were full or dead bodies but some of them were Zombies, they walk and walk without finding any troubles until they took a rest because of all the methane. While they were taking a rest there was another big revelation, Tommaso told Maggie the truth about why he did it, The Croat promise him a place to stay in mainland, a place where everything was made of brick, guess what that place is? Hill Top, now Maggie has no other option to get Hershel and fly out of there is possible as fast as she can to get everyone ready at home to defend themself.

It was there when the took a rest when they got attacked, Tommaso and Amaia got the worst part of it, Tommaso got Amaia killed because if it wasn’t for him then probably the would not be down the sewers, he also got attacked and bitten on his neck badly, it was only Ginny and Maggie left but then Mr. Zombie, the one at the cover of this post; show up while Maggie got her foot stuck inside one of the corps laying down, leaving her still and all he could do was lay on her back and try to defend from this mutated Zombie, it look like someone put it together but would not be strange if Zombies remains could get stuck between them, its like there is a pile of them and they are so rotten they can go through each other but at some point get stuck inside another Zombie’s body, at least that’s how I think it could happen because Zombies do not grow or regenerate, all they can do is disintegrate, rot or turn apart.

All this time I have been thinking that Ginny only came back for Negan to be with him because she didn’t like Hill Top but that was not the only reason, when she was escaping Ginny was near a Silo and Maggie kept telling Negan how The Croat tool all their grain but at the Hill Top when she arrive they had food so before she hop on the dirt bike an escape she check the Silo and it was full. Maggie kills the six foot tall Zombie but she was exhausted and out of oxygen until she got out of a tunnel to escape, same tunnel that Ginny took and wrote on the wall LIAR, it was at this moment that Ginny knows something, probably not everything but something that can lead Negan to the real reason she wanted Negan to help her.

I really like this kind of scenes where you don’t know what the fuck is going on but something is cooking. The Croat gave Maggie the Wanted Man flyer where Negan show up, he took Hershel; her son so she get him Negan, this is still and unknown reason for me same way as he visits this women who was inside a theater with another bunch of people, she looks like the one running town and both want Negan although I cant figure out why. Its like she wants Negan to lead her people or an army, she was reading a book of The European Conquest of Native American, so that takes me to this conclusion, she is preparing for something big, probably to defend themself from getting conquered from mainland.

Different than Daryl Dixon spin off, Dead City is turning to be very good TV Series, entertain, traitors left and right, people lying to each other to try to survive thinking they have an advantage to the guy next to them but its actually not the case, that’s how so far has been between Maggie and Negan, also Tommaso and Amaia close to the end but they were not lucky enough to survive, The Croat has been playing all of them all this time and the one that knows the less out of all of them is Negan so I guess how is he going to react once he discover the truth, at least Maggies real plan, at some point the good old Negan is coming back and who knows if Lucile shows up too, that would be a proper ending to this season or start for season two.

Kong: Skull Island (2017) – MONSTER VERSE RECAP

Ever since I made that post about the upcoming Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023) TV Series I got interested on finding out the start of MONARCH and the chronology of the movies, there are other stories made up from multiple movies but they are just too big for me to learn everything from the start, it is just too much time so this seems smaller and about to kick off with its first TV Series based on a series of movies. The first movie that started things was Kong: Skull Island (2017) where Bill Randa finally find all this monsters he has been talking about for years, but he was not the first man from a modern society to discover the island after Hank Marlow a USA pilot from World War II crash there and had his first encounter with the guardian of the island, Kong.

At first I really thought I was going to be disappointed by this movie since the score on sites like IMDB was very low with only a 6.7/10 but when I start to go through the reviews most of them were positive, lots of 7+ reviews but it was only a few bastards that gave the movie a 2 or 3 complaining about the story that they probably didn’t that much attention to, others complaining about how the concept about Kong was completely change from this giant ape who normally terrorize cities to now been the guardian of the island. I think MONARCH made a favor to Kong bringing it into the MONSTER VERSE, no body cares about movies based on the same concept over and over, what they were trying to do is build up the foundation to something bigger that now days will turn into a TV Series potentially extending the story of all this monsters into something different and bigger.

The Vietnam war is about to be over and all troops send back home, Bill Randal currently in charge of MONARCH knows that the program can be shut down at any moment because so far they have found nothing and when the war ends things are going to rapidly change politically, he feels its now or never go make a discovery and prove the monsters he and his assistant Houston Brooks have been speculating about do exist so they talk to Senator Willis, ask him for one last chance to send them on an expedition to Skull Island, a place that has not been explore yet with many stories about boats disappearing, mysterious bombing like they were trying to kill something but its all speculation, luckily there is already an expedition to Skull Island and Bill and Houston knew about, LANDSAT a program to discover and explore the Earth is sending a team to Skull Island so MONARCH was able to piggy back after Senator Willis approval. A common question that came up was WHY THE FUCK ITS NOT BEEN EXPLORE? the reason is because its surrounded by a perpetual storm system like God doesn’t want anyone else inside the island.

Bill ask for a military escort, he knows if they find something on that island only military power can help them to get out alive, that’s when one of my favorite characters comes in by the hand of Samuel Jackson, Colonel Preston Packard who doesn’t want to leave the war, he is that soldier who feels there is nothing else at home that matters and he just want to keep pushing not to mention that they are “abandoning” the war but that’s a total different topic. Colonel Packard is in charge to take LANDSAT and MONARCH to Skull Island and provide protection so they can explore it and come back home.

As secondarily characters there are soldiers under Packard wing, most pilots, there is Cole, Slivko, Reles and Chapman all this pilots will follow Packard orders at all times, that was at first, until Packard obsession gets them close enough to death.

Chapman a pilot who was flying the helicopter with the most gun power is played by Toby Kebbell who is on For All Man Kind new season, he did very well on this movie although his part was very small, this is Packard’s first obsession to find Chapman when his helicopter goes down after an attack but not necesarly because he wants to safe Chapman, Packard was really after all the armament on Chapman’s helicopter.

Last duet of the story are James Conrad and Mason Weaver, Conrad the man in charge to guide them through the island he is famous for exploring inhabitable places and getting out alive so Bill and Houston look for him, they knew it would be expensive and they running low on money but if they want the best chances to get out alive Conrad is the guy to go with, as a bonus we get Mason Weaver who is going to play the pretty lady on the movie, photographer who actually goes to cover the LANDSAT expedition but she knows there is something else cooking besides the LANDSAT expedition but none of them have a clue of what they going to find on Skull Island.

There is one detail that I didn’t like and that was the amount of Choppers on the first shots when they get to the Island, there was only one ship that look like it can hold at best five to seven of them but when they start flying towards the Island looks like they were ten of them, also when already in the island they started to drop some small bombs to map out the surface because of the seismic waves.

After they start dropping bombs this obviously disturb nature, you got the noise, the impact on earth, animals going wild running scared and this is when big dawg Kong shows up for the first time on the movie, I really like how they gave it this classic Vietnam war scenery with the sun going down and the sky orange but in some cases it was hard to see although I still think it look great, Kong itself was very well design in my opinion but it look small, latter on during the movie it is mention that he is still small, he is probably on his teens, point is that he got mad as fuck for all the bombing and shuts down all the choppers one by one this made him enemy number one to Colonel Packard, on this movie Kong is the protector of the Island, he is not a predator he protect humans and animals mainly for the real predators, GIANT LIZARDS!!

After Kong shuts them down Packard had a little chat with Bill who then told him why they were there, what is MONARCH, he is not there to explore the land, he is there to find monsters and bring proof back because he believes there are way more monsters that have not been discover and they need to prepare, bring the cavalry, on the island they had many encounter with huge animals, from what looks like a giant Buffalo, spiders, insects, its like Australia x100.

The survivors of the attack start exploring looking for shelter and how to get out of the island, the group split in two, you got Packard and his soldiers looking for Chapman and all that fire power and then there is Conrad leading the other group (MONARCH and LANDSAT) until they found Hank Marlow, the guy I mention crash the island many years ago during WW II, he has been living there for twenty eight years waiting to be rescue without luck until now when Bill and the rest arrive but this was not necessary a good thing for the island. Hank has been living with natives of the island and gave the guys a tour and had a short Q&A with them so they know whats the deal of the island, who is Kong to them and where not to go.

I don’t like to spoil the cool scenes so I’m just going to mention that there was NO LACK at all of fight scenes between humans and monsters and monster against monsters, you got flying monsters, you got giant baby lizard and then you got big mama lizard against Kong in the final fight, nothing was left to the imagination wondering of why things happen or what if, none of that bullshit, its true that we don’t know yet from where all this monsters are coming but Houston did mention that his planet is not theirs, it belongs to this monsters and it was just a matter of time before they take it back, that’s one of the reasons why MONARCH exist to prevent all this events.

This was for sure the beginning of MONARCH, on this movie we only get that a man called Harry Truman funded MONARCH in 1946 but that’s all we got from this movie, after credits there is a scene where Houston give more details to Conrad and Weaver of who are they facing but that’s it, but he does show them some pictures of cave explorations and images on the walls of this caves that represent many of the different titans like Godzilla.

The reason to watching this movie was to find out more about MONARCH, I know I can go and read the MONARCH Fandom but that is not what I want, I want to have the same perspective of any other viewer once MONARCH: Legacy of the Monsters TV Show starts and that is the reference to the movies themself, my next movie to watch is Godzilla (2014) that is heavy shown on the first trailer for the tv series.

Kong Skull of Island as a Monster or Titans because when you say monster most people think about demons probably but this case its titans or MUTOS as MONARCH describe, this movie did a great job, the CGI was very good nothing to criticize also the amount of monsters that appear on the movie is good enough since it was not only Kong, on the movie appear seven monster animals in total that I can remember so it was not only about Kong, there is even an extra small fight between Kong and a Giant squid that felt like a bonus fight. In terms of the cast it had a good amount of known actors who also did a good job at bringing all this characters alive, I don’t feel anything was fake or over the top neither. The only thing that I would do different is not killing Bill on this movie because I think he was a leader for MONARCH and finally when they get all proof they need to show he was right about all this monsters he gets killed, I don’t him been alive would change the end/meaning of the movie but just a small detail that I would prefer.

Referring to MONARCH itself this is the movie that opens the door to explore what they have discover so far, from here its all about looking for all those other monsters out there, try to understand them, protect from them and even dominate or kill them depending on how dangerous they are, MONARCH already knows there are more out there and its a matter of time before they claim Earth back.

The Continental: Theater of Pain – Episode 3 – RECAP

Different than popular opinion from Crystal Generation I did enjoy The Continental specially Episode Three for sure was the best, It’s true that it was not so close to John Wick himself but that is the best part because this could the door that opens to other spin off from the same world, I kept saying it on my other two post of episode one and two, it was very little what was known about the High Table not even Charon knew the extend of it I might even dare to say not even Cormac for just thinking he could bring down the High Table, not even John Wick himself was able to bring it down but rather win under their own terms and he still dies on chapter four.

After a very slow episode two as expected the last episode was pure fire with constant action, I really enjoy how not only one character was able to put up some really good shooting and fight scenes, Yen, Miles, KD but the one who really stole the show as Lou, on episode two she did a great display of her fighting skills going against a gang that was bullying her but on the third episode I saw a fight scene I could never imagine.

I have heard of shooting or fighting inside an elevator but fighting on a fucking phone booth? the greatest part is the balance of this fight, what make it so amazing is that it was not two crazy skill fighters but a man Mayhew who is way bigger and potentially stronger than Lou on that tight space and then Lou who is skinny, less weight, less brute force but she fucking him up so badly all inside of a two by two phone booth, this was only one of the few scenes that made this last episode amazing, on IMDB episode three got a solid eight and that says a lot, over all I give this series an eight out of ten.

Winston manage to assemble a small crew but he is after something way bigger and that’s Mazie’s army although he haven’t crack her code yet, Love that’s is all she wants but what kind of love exactly? Miles and the rest almost back out when he told them Mazie is not yet with them but he was right they going to war so even with here there is no guaranty that their plan will work out, they are taking over a hotel that is basically a fortress.

Ray McKinnon was a great addition to this mini series playing as Jenkins, an old sharp shooter who refuse to to recognize he is now old and need glasses, Mile’s old friend still got it and turn out to be a key asset to take over The Continental, McKinnon also adds in my opinion the entire side of the comedy aspect of this mini series.

On Episode three many are seeking the truth and revenge at the same time and if we pay attention almost every single story goes back to Cormac and the hotel, for example Lou and Mile’s father use to work for Cormac and different to what Lou knows of her father he was another assassin under contract with Cormac, her brother Miles try to protect her from this sad truth but it was a local Asian Gangster name Chen who open her eyes, he gave her the very own gun her dad use to kill many, I’m no gun expert but that’s a big ass gun looks like a .50

Another revelation from this episode was KD story, she started the series as just investigating gangster that were going in and out of the hotel but she was after Frankie, I think she only mention him twice, after Frankie went MIA for her then she focus on Winston and the Hotel, never understood what truly happen inside the Hotel but she knew they protect all kind of criminals and latter infiltrate with a High Table Coin she got from a dead shooter who work for Cormac, her true story is that she was the only survivor after the fire Winston and Frankie started on an apartment, never told anyone all this time until she finally put her hands on Winston and was ready to pull the trigger and take vengeance by her own hands.

Last best fight of the night was between Yen and The Twins, specially the Gretel who shoot Frankie in the head after he gave up and jump from the helicopter, the twins Hansel and Gretel were under contract by Cormac, Yen is a character that carry a lot of fighting power and now is full of rage to the point she doesn’t care about her life anymore all she wants is to kill the twins, she doesnt even care about Winston plan thats why she goes old school when she met Frankie and puts on a C4 vest to blow up when she catch the twins. This was a very freaky fight from Gretel, this is a good example how an actor can be good at performing their role and not saying a word, in my opinion from the two Gretel was the best at it.

After everything was settle and the fight was over, it’s obvious this was a fight the good guys would win, many died but at the end it was expected for Winston to take over the Hotel, after all on the movies he is the manager of the continental, he faces the Adjudicator who pay him a visit, to a certain point she left Cormac to die because the High Table never send reinforces but Winston was aware she was not the person he would talk to but he had to send a message to those at a higher position within the High Table so he did what no body else would that’s kill the Adjudicator, this action kinda contradicts how Winston behave on the movies when he did what the Adjudicator told him too although he was always trying what Cormac did, try to win using their own rules against the High Table, this was many years before the John Wick movies so probably he was young and wild back then.

The Continental was a mini series that at first I was skeptical about it since it landed on Peacock as its not a a AAA streaming media in terms of the content that is release on this service, another thing that got me worry is that most of the cast was a not very well known except Gibson and many have the opinion he is going down hill on his career, after all this I decided to give it a try for many reasons probably the most important one is that I love the underdog and this was the case, a series with a great story but release on a not popular streaming service with actors that not many know off.

After three good episodes I give The Continental a solid 8/10, the second episodes as expected was the slowest one but the first and third really nail it with a good story and packing a lot of action, many though this was going to be around the story of the High Table and probably John friendship with Winston but it was not the case, it was all about Winston and how he started at the Hotel, how he started doing business with the High Table, if we pay attention not much is reveal about the High Table during the series and this opens the door for some other spin off.

I didn’t want to take the fun out of the action scenes so I didn’t describe them just the final outcome of the different side stories besides Winston, everything on this story happen because of Cormac so it was just a matter of time before people like Winston, Lou, Frankie, KD and even the High Table take revenge.

Until Episode Two I don’t see why Secret Invasion got so many bad reviews although considering how it did episode by episode on IMDB I’m probably soon to find out and already have that hunch that they rush the story to keep it short for who knows what reason, this min series only has six episodes why not make it ten if the problem was time but also have to consider how much did the Hollywood Strike affect the production of Secret Invasion, right now compare to the rest of the MCU TV Series is not that bad considering that there are two heavy hitters at the top with Loki and Moon Knight, been my favorite so far.

Episode two right out of the gate reveal me a few things I already had a suspicion, first is how Gravik and Nick Fury met, Gravik has this revolutionary mindset that usually comes from some one that has suffer a lot but also is brave enough to stand up and take the justice by his hands because that’s exactly what he has been doing so far, after Gravik lost his parents he was brought to Fury as a refugee at a young age, at the moment Fury saw Skrulls as agents with their special capability of shape shifting could be a great asset for his cause. Fury invites them to join him, this Skrulls were lead by Talos; and told them if they kept their promise to help him he will keep his side of the deal to make Earth their home too, this is were everything started with a promise that was never fulfill that’s when Gravik feels he was betrayed by Fury.

“..keep my home safe…we will find you a new one” this is what Fury told this group of Skrulls when he invite them to his cause but Fury is a bag full of tricks, he never said Earth was going to be their home and also never mention how long it would take, I don’t want to say he took advantage of their need to stay safe at Earth and not be hunted but they probably underestimate the situation and didn’t know exactly who they were making a deal with, Fury is a SPY, you can’t fully trust him, its all over the problem that Banner had with Natasha even if they love each other, even Natasha would not trust herself, that’s how you need to treat anyone working for a government or special agency. Skrulls probably wanted faster results than what he was delivering, after the blip Fury was one of the many Thanos made disappear and it took time for the Avengers to bring everyone back plus when Fury was back he started on a new project to build a space station so consider the was gone for over six years, during that time Gravik kept growing wit the uncertainty that his people will ever find a planet they could call home so why not take over Earth?

After the bombing in Russia Talos safe Fury, latter on revelations kept coming up and during a train ride they were both in Fury start talking about a game he play with his mom as a kid “Tell me somthing I dont know”, from that moment Talos should know better, Fury was about to brake him in pieces before he knew it and ask the key question “Tell me something I dont know about the Skrulls that fled” to what Talos answer they are all here a million Skrulls, obviously there must be more than a million now so the real question is how many are with Gravik and what is their current power position in human society. We already saw there are some powerful Skrulls that could get their hands on bombs and who knows what else, they had the time and special skills to infiltrate humans to the point they could even infiltrate governments deeply, but Skrulls are not violent by nature so they try to coexist with humans.

From what I have seen so far it seems that G’iah is not on Gravik’s close group, even though he does not trust anyone he does have some Skrulls who he assign important missions, G’iah is basically running errands him some of them important but she is not in charge of anything very important, on this episode she starts to get a grip of how dangerous he can be, so far she only imagine but now starts to see from first hand how Gravik would go to kill their own kind if he feels there is a slight chance they lying to him, on Gravik mission there is no room for treason.

G’iah is willing to work with her father Talos after there last chat but that is something I not a fan of because at first she was all revolutionary and had a fix mind of new Skrullos and after one meeting with Talos she has now change sides and is trying to play the double agent, sneaking around Gravik’s base and got the room where scientist are trying to work on a DNA to make Skrulls stronger, this is the same room we see Gravik throw Furry in.

Having Fury on every camera when the bombing in Russia happen was not the best advertisement for the USA, they now after his ass and the only reason he is not in jail or dead is because Talos safe him but it seems that the US Goverment also wants him out of the equation, in a meeting with Rhodey; Fury try to explain things of how everything really went down but the political damage is done and there is no way to erase it, so Fury play his last card telling Rhodey about the Skrulls and how an invasion is going on but he didn’t care, remember Rhodey is a soldier who obey orders but only at extreme during extreme circumstances bend but not break the rules same thing happen in Avengers: End Game. Rhodey notify Fury he is out but he didn’t like the news and went all Nick Fury on Rhodey “Even when I’m out I’m In”. I think its understandable he feels this way because he has no control of whats going on, that’s his thing been steps ahead of everyone but he is fighting an enemy that he can’t see, a million shape shifters that could be Rhodey himself.

Closing the episode another great scene from the trailer happen, that’s when Sonya from MI6 shows up to a Butcher Shop where Russians held a Skrull inside the freezer at the back of the Shop good old fashion scene with the pigs hanging cut in half but they could not make the guy talk, this is a Skrull they caught after the bombing, so first thing Sonya does is make sure he is a Skrull by cutting a finger, the moment the finger is separated from the body it turns to its natural skin so now that she knows who she is dealing with next is to use an injection that will raise his blood temperature, as a reptile or human this is NO BUENO but I guess for a reptile might be worst and thats the guy at the top on the post cover boiling from the inside.
Eventually Gravik shows up to the place to rescue him but it was too late, he could not resist to Sonya torture and didn’t want her to inject him anymore but at that point he already gave the names of the scientist behind the experiments to create a new generation of Skrulls, Super Skrulls, G’iah also did some digging on the name Rosa Dalton at their local database, she found experiments with roots, beasts but could not continue reading since Gravik came into the room at that moment, its like he feels when someone is lying to him but still doesn’t caught G’iah.

Like it was not enough about the lying to each other species, Fury comes back home his very own house on Earth and he is married to a Skrull, nothing against that but if it wasn’t for Talos they would never met now the question is, is that really Nick Fury holding his weeding ring next to his Skrull wife or is he another Skrull? for now I will keep it simple and believe that is Fury.

In my opinion great episode but keep in mind I am NOT a Marvel geek so I do not now if this story is close to the comics or not, still great episode now that we get to know a few more things about Talos and Fury, those were the two characters that reveal the most important information in this episode because with a million Skrulls, starting number; how many is Fury facing? and Fury’s wife been a Skrull that even make me doubt on what side will Fury be at the end of the battle, but that was just the last scene so we don’t know if she knows anything about the invasion and what is her stand about it.

Everything else was just drama about what happen in Russian, pure speculation and aftermath of countries debate if USA had anything to do with the bombing or not just because Fury was there and then USA giving Fury its back, trying to shut him down, probably on episode three and four we get more information about this experiments and the Super Skrulls, probably even see them battling, we already know Gravik is one of them from the trailer.

You might think “another Walking Dead spin off” there will be more in the future, The Walking Dead is way more than just the OG series and they going to milk it, I’m happy with it as long as the actors remain the same if possible and production is as good, with new TV Series format each episode is one hour long including intro/outtro also with The Walking Dead spin off there is at the end a “On the next episode…” that either gives you snippets of whats next and an analysis of whats happening.

This story is about the man you see on the image above, Daryl Dixon who left home looking for something new, something meaningful and exciting, it looks like the story doesn’t start from the beginning so it might be confusing at first and you will ask yourself how did he got there? all there is a guy tied to a boat, did he do that to himself? no, there is much more than that.

Zombies are not the topic anymore but if I’m not mistaken this is the first time that we see a mutation on them, on Daryl Dixon there are “boilers” as they call them, Zombies that can burn your skin as they touch you, their insides are acid and burn anything in contact, they die the same way just stick something to their head, they are also slow as usual, same as The Walking Dead: Dead City, Zombies are not the topic of the story anymore, its about the journey of the main Character.

Daryl had no mission when he got to France, yes by the way this story is develop in France, so that’s cool that the story moves to another continent, in here Daryl face language barrier, I can imagine myself, nothing to loose, surviving, exploring the country I have never been at, must be cool, only problem is that the world is trying to kill you every minute, either Zombies get your or humans does.

If you are new to the story, don’t know who this guy is or how he got there, this is Daryl Dixon, arrives to a beach in France after he was tied to a boat, details will be tell down the road. The end of man kind has happen, the world is full of Zombies, those who survive feel usually lonely and threatened by existence itself, its very rare to see people happy on The Walking Dead universe other than kids or anything involving kids, adults just never, I guess the stress of staying alive, the suffering of loosing love ones, Daryl is the same, that’s one of the reasons whey he end up tied to a boat.

All we know is that Daryl was looking for something new or meaningful, I don’t know why yet because if I’m not mistaken he had a wife and kid back home, people who care for him, now he arrive the shores of France, starts exploring to find out it is just the same thing, he finds a guy audio tape with recordings that this guy has been 19 months navigating the sea, Spain, France, there is no safe place until slowly they all start to die for different reasons, so Daryl I think leaving home was stupid.

Until now we were still in regular schedule, he starts exploring and got attack by Zombies at a warehouse where he was looking for supplies or anything of value, only difference is that when this Zombies touch you, they burn your skin since their rotten insides are acid and burn anything in contact, once this happen my first question was, is he infected? do they now turn when they get touch? how long it takes for him to turn? , after he got burn by this Zombie end up killing all of the and took off.

Zombie apocalypse all the remaining survivors have turn into real mother fuckers in one way or another, so if this ever happen trust no one you don’t know, as Darys keeps exploring he find this two, Maribelle and her grandfather, they look innocent at not a threat at first, I thought at first they were going to shoot Daryl, but they offer him to trade medical supplies for food so he accept.

The entire world is full of Zombies, its a virus, every human that dies turns into a Zombie so unless there is a cure there will always be Zombies around, but there are less every day I guess, humans start to go out more so some one has to take charge of the territory, guerrillas form and start to control the country, a patrol finds Daryl and his new “friends”, they start an argument about who Daryl is, they try to take Maribelle with them and he tries to stop them but shoot him back, I was like they can’t kill him yet so Maribelle and Daryl end up getting out of this tight situation, kill them all but her smart ass grandfather decides to betray Daryl, the old bastard was not blind at all so takes a cheap shot at him, knock him out. This guerilla guys were part of the group related to Daryl in a way, the reason why he got tied to the boat, part of the story that has not been explained yet, one of they two guys that were killed, by Maribelle not even Daryl, was the guerrilla boss brother, he would want so revenge right?

Daryl is found wounded, burn, knocked out; by Sister Isabelle, they saw each other from the distance at a place he was exploring, he is taking to the convent she is part of and the first thing they did was to cauterize where he was touche by the Zombie, yes it spread, yes people die and turn because of that so I was right on that one, it was only obvious.

The convent is a kind of sanctuary, good amount of nuns who are basically self sustain, traditions and believe in God is not so strong during the times of apocalypse but humans still respect it and keep their distance so it gives them some what protection been inside the convent, reason why they could stay alive without been attacked.

At the convent there were all nuns except there was a 12 year old kid who was born at the convent, his mother died. I should have seen this at first, Isabelle was kind of a modern nun as she does not discard others people believes and knew how to use a gun, defend herself.

Daryl meets the kid, Laurent; since he is the only kid in the convent they teach him everything they could from math, geography, instruments, but there was something more, classic messiah story, nuns think Laurent is the savior of the world and Daryl the messenger, they have this prophecy that Daryl needs to take Laurent to Paris so he can guide society, not sure why they would think this, if you look around there is no government, there is no country, there is no resistance, there is just Zombies and humans who kill each other, the nuns even had a Zombie inside the last father turn and they thought this was a punishment from God that at some point would end and father Pere Jean would once again be human, the moment Daryl discover this he took some supplies, guns and walk away.

When Daryl was leaving he notice the guerrilla going into the convent, they were looking for him, Maribelle snitch on him, she was found with her grandfather by the guerrilla because obviously no body kills the boss brother and stay alive, the fighting between nuns and the guerrilla starts after they “killed” Pere Jean.

Daryl is old and looks like on every fight from now he will end in the floor about to die and saved by some one else, really again? Once everything was over there were a lot of casualties, the place was a mess, lot of new Zombies around, few survivors and the nuns still have their prophecy with Daryl as the messenger and Laurent their savior, Daryl thinks twice what he has done and only wants to come home, Isabelle mention a port that is still active close to Paris, Daryl offer her a trade, he will take them to Paris and she will show him the way to the port.

The scenes at the convent and Daryl are done but towards the end of the episode its reveal from where Daryl came, who tied him to the boat and a few characters that we know nothing about yet, the is a women who show up with body guards, her name Genet, look like she is in charge of a military movement or another guerrilla, probably she has a connection with the guerilla boss who tried to kill Daryl.

They either experimenting with Zombies or some how use them, on The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Croat use Zombies as fuel, extracting the methane, Zombies on the ship have masks so they cant bite others but I dont see gloves or anything that protect humans from contact so probably this are regular Zombies. Genet arrives because there was an incident at a lab inside, I assume it was Daryl since the Captain told Genet the responsible died after he went overboard, Genet doesn’t trust the captain’s word, she knows he is incompetent and knows the man who started all this is an American, soon we will see Genet after Daryl’s ass.

For episode one it was a handful, feels like it was an hour and half, so many details, the convent at first felt refreshing like finally a place to stay but then as the story start to unfold Daryl fall into a situation he never ask for that’s why the second he figure out how fucked up things were inside the convent he didn’t want to be part of it, he already had enough troubles to take such responsibility, Paris is fucking far away from where they are, feels like another The Last of Us journey, but Isabelle got him when she mention the active port close to Paris.

This spin off stories are not about the Zombies anymore, I have mention this on other spin off, its about what happen to the main character in this case Daryl, the entire apocalypse theme is oversold and predictable so most of the situations as they happen you will figure them out right away but the are others like Maribelle and her grandfather, who would thought the old man was faking been blind, the experiment with Zombies seems interesting, what the fuck they doing experimenting with Zombies on a ship? what for? also how and why did Daryl start a mutiny? was a prisoner here? this is the attractive part of the story, not just the Zombies and Daryl.
