You might think “another Walking Dead spin off” there will be more in the future, The Walking Dead is way more than just the OG series and they going to milk it, I’m happy with it as long as the actors remain the same if possible and production is as good, with new TV Series format each episode is one hour long including intro/outtro also with The Walking Dead spin off there is at the end a “On the next episode…” that either gives you snippets of whats next and an analysis of whats happening.

This story is about the man you see on the image above, Daryl Dixon who left home looking for something new, something meaningful and exciting, it looks like the story doesn’t start from the beginning so it might be confusing at first and you will ask yourself how did he got there? all there is a guy tied to a boat, did he do that to himself? no, there is much more than that.

Zombies are not the topic anymore but if I’m not mistaken this is the first time that we see a mutation on them, on Daryl Dixon there are “boilers” as they call them, Zombies that can burn your skin as they touch you, their insides are acid and burn anything in contact, they die the same way just stick something to their head, they are also slow as usual, same as The Walking Dead: Dead City, Zombies are not the topic of the story anymore, its about the journey of the main Character.

Daryl had no mission when he got to France, yes by the way this story is develop in France, so that’s cool that the story moves to another continent, in here Daryl face language barrier, I can imagine myself, nothing to loose, surviving, exploring the country I have never been at, must be cool, only problem is that the world is trying to kill you every minute, either Zombies get your or humans does.

If you are new to the story, don’t know who this guy is or how he got there, this is Daryl Dixon, arrives to a beach in France after he was tied to a boat, details will be tell down the road. The end of man kind has happen, the world is full of Zombies, those who survive feel usually lonely and threatened by existence itself, its very rare to see people happy on The Walking Dead universe other than kids or anything involving kids, adults just never, I guess the stress of staying alive, the suffering of loosing love ones, Daryl is the same, that’s one of the reasons whey he end up tied to a boat.

All we know is that Daryl was looking for something new or meaningful, I don’t know why yet because if I’m not mistaken he had a wife and kid back home, people who care for him, now he arrive the shores of France, starts exploring to find out it is just the same thing, he finds a guy audio tape with recordings that this guy has been 19 months navigating the sea, Spain, France, there is no safe place until slowly they all start to die for different reasons, so Daryl I think leaving home was stupid.

Until now we were still in regular schedule, he starts exploring and got attack by Zombies at a warehouse where he was looking for supplies or anything of value, only difference is that when this Zombies touch you, they burn your skin since their rotten insides are acid and burn anything in contact, once this happen my first question was, is he infected? do they now turn when they get touch? how long it takes for him to turn? , after he got burn by this Zombie end up killing all of the and took off.

Zombie apocalypse all the remaining survivors have turn into real mother fuckers in one way or another, so if this ever happen trust no one you don’t know, as Darys keeps exploring he find this two, Maribelle and her grandfather, they look innocent at not a threat at first, I thought at first they were going to shoot Daryl, but they offer him to trade medical supplies for food so he accept.

The entire world is full of Zombies, its a virus, every human that dies turns into a Zombie so unless there is a cure there will always be Zombies around, but there are less every day I guess, humans start to go out more so some one has to take charge of the territory, guerrillas form and start to control the country, a patrol finds Daryl and his new “friends”, they start an argument about who Daryl is, they try to take Maribelle with them and he tries to stop them but shoot him back, I was like they can’t kill him yet so Maribelle and Daryl end up getting out of this tight situation, kill them all but her smart ass grandfather decides to betray Daryl, the old bastard was not blind at all so takes a cheap shot at him, knock him out. This guerilla guys were part of the group related to Daryl in a way, the reason why he got tied to the boat, part of the story that has not been explained yet, one of they two guys that were killed, by Maribelle not even Daryl, was the guerrilla boss brother, he would want so revenge right?

Daryl is found wounded, burn, knocked out; by Sister Isabelle, they saw each other from the distance at a place he was exploring, he is taking to the convent she is part of and the first thing they did was to cauterize where he was touche by the Zombie, yes it spread, yes people die and turn because of that so I was right on that one, it was only obvious.

The convent is a kind of sanctuary, good amount of nuns who are basically self sustain, traditions and believe in God is not so strong during the times of apocalypse but humans still respect it and keep their distance so it gives them some what protection been inside the convent, reason why they could stay alive without been attacked.

At the convent there were all nuns except there was a 12 year old kid who was born at the convent, his mother died. I should have seen this at first, Isabelle was kind of a modern nun as she does not discard others people believes and knew how to use a gun, defend herself.

Daryl meets the kid, Laurent; since he is the only kid in the convent they teach him everything they could from math, geography, instruments, but there was something more, classic messiah story, nuns think Laurent is the savior of the world and Daryl the messenger, they have this prophecy that Daryl needs to take Laurent to Paris so he can guide society, not sure why they would think this, if you look around there is no government, there is no country, there is no resistance, there is just Zombies and humans who kill each other, the nuns even had a Zombie inside the last father turn and they thought this was a punishment from God that at some point would end and father Pere Jean would once again be human, the moment Daryl discover this he took some supplies, guns and walk away.

When Daryl was leaving he notice the guerrilla going into the convent, they were looking for him, Maribelle snitch on him, she was found with her grandfather by the guerrilla because obviously no body kills the boss brother and stay alive, the fighting between nuns and the guerrilla starts after they “killed” Pere Jean.

Daryl is old and looks like on every fight from now he will end in the floor about to die and saved by some one else, really again? Once everything was over there were a lot of casualties, the place was a mess, lot of new Zombies around, few survivors and the nuns still have their prophecy with Daryl as the messenger and Laurent their savior, Daryl thinks twice what he has done and only wants to come home, Isabelle mention a port that is still active close to Paris, Daryl offer her a trade, he will take them to Paris and she will show him the way to the port.

The scenes at the convent and Daryl are done but towards the end of the episode its reveal from where Daryl came, who tied him to the boat and a few characters that we know nothing about yet, the is a women who show up with body guards, her name Genet, look like she is in charge of a military movement or another guerrilla, probably she has a connection with the guerilla boss who tried to kill Daryl.

They either experimenting with Zombies or some how use them, on The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Croat use Zombies as fuel, extracting the methane, Zombies on the ship have masks so they cant bite others but I dont see gloves or anything that protect humans from contact so probably this are regular Zombies. Genet arrives because there was an incident at a lab inside, I assume it was Daryl since the Captain told Genet the responsible died after he went overboard, Genet doesn’t trust the captain’s word, she knows he is incompetent and knows the man who started all this is an American, soon we will see Genet after Daryl’s ass.

For episode one it was a handful, feels like it was an hour and half, so many details, the convent at first felt refreshing like finally a place to stay but then as the story start to unfold Daryl fall into a situation he never ask for that’s why the second he figure out how fucked up things were inside the convent he didn’t want to be part of it, he already had enough troubles to take such responsibility, Paris is fucking far away from where they are, feels like another The Last of Us journey, but Isabelle got him when she mention the active port close to Paris.

This spin off stories are not about the Zombies anymore, I have mention this on other spin off, its about what happen to the main character in this case Daryl, the entire apocalypse theme is oversold and predictable so most of the situations as they happen you will figure them out right away but the are others like Maribelle and her grandfather, who would thought the old man was faking been blind, the experiment with Zombies seems interesting, what the fuck they doing experimenting with Zombies on a ship? what for? also how and why did Daryl start a mutiny? was a prisoner here? this is the attractive part of the story, not just the Zombies and Daryl.

The Continental: Brothers in Arms – Episode 1 – Recap

Lets start with the obvious, this is a mini series, this is not about John Wick (at least episode one) so don’t expect to see anyone else related to John other than Winston, Charon and the hotel, other than this so far nothing else points to John Wick himself.

Been a three part mini series it feels kinda packed with a lot of information, specially the amount of characters, on episode one there are about a solid two digit amount of characters that are important to the development of the episode and they start to die very fast, different than other series that promise a lot of action right from the go The Continental did promise and deliver, there is a lot of shooting, car chase, Frankie robbed the hotel safe, there was a helicopter scene towards the end but I think they ran out of time to make a great scene out of it or probably budget, been on Peacock doesn’t give me too much confidence on the series, also there are a few faces I have never seen although the actors were ok I got no complains, The Continental seem like a great idea for a full Tv Series but no body had the time, cast or money to develop it but some one didn’t want to let the idea waste and gave it a shot with some what low budget, no disrespect to any of the actors its just how it feels.

The Continental is about Winston, after 20 years of not seen his brother Frankie, Winston is kidnap by Cormac (The Continental Manager) and send him back to US because his brother just stole something valuable for him and the organization (The High Table), Frankie stole and old coin press from the organization, now Cormac wants to use Winston as bait but he tries to outsmart him back to safe Frankie and his wife Yen.

Frankie is Winston older brother, since they were little got in trouble and Frankie was always there to protect him, latter down the line Frankie did time in jail taking the fall and letting Winston out of trouble but then Frankie’s involvement with The Continental pulls Winston back.

Frankie work for Cormac, the same mobster that put them on the street after his father took a loan that latter on could not pay but down the road Frankie discover what was going on at The Continental, it was the 70’s and different than the John Wick movies where everyone knows he is an assassin because we are watching the movie through his eyes, on The Continental is different, during the times of this mini series it was not known what The High Table was, they just knew The Continental could not be touch, even the cops knew this.

So far I’m not sure why Frankie thought it was a good idea and what was his goal at stealing this coin press, if you saw the movies then you know that on chapter four, John goes to middle east and talks to an Jerome Berrada who is in charge of making the coins so this coin press that Frankie steals is probably nothing else than a relic, he almost gets caught after his partner betray him.

Winston earn his life making business at London, big money, he is very smart and slick, always steps ahead of the people he is trying to make business with but had no clew what his brother has been doing back at home, New York, for the last twenty years.

Cormac, as mention the mobster now running The Continental, he is ruthless, will do anything to make others do his willing even killing themself, always has a leverage against others and this time he thinks that leverage against Frankie is his little brother Winston, he brings him from London to find Frankie, after all Cormac saw them grow up together and knows this two love each other even they cant live together as grown ups.

Fucking Peter Greene as Charlie, a man who knew Winston and Frankie since they were little, Peter Green was making films since I was a kid, appear in Pulp Fiction, he had a small part on this mini series but still did ok I think. He helps Winston, gave him a gun, a coat and his car, a mustang very similar to John’s Mustang int he movies, also told Frankie was probably at a Karate Dojo, I will look because probably at some point Winston gave this car to John as gift, after all they were good friends.

Winston decides to visit the Dojo, Burton Karate, here he meet Miles and Lou, brothers who run the Dojo but there is no business with the Dojo, Miles use it as a cover for his guns traffic business, looks like Frankie was staying there for some time after he left. Winstons ask for their help to find Frankie before Cormac so Miles only told him what he knew, Miles and Frankie work together until he got to the hotel, Frankie was good with all kind of guns and probably good at killing people too.

There are other characters that are not develop yet, they will have more influence on episode two and three, she is The Adjudicator, most likely works for The High Table, on this scene she got the guy who betray Frankie, she is trying to extract information from him without much luck, over all not many people knew who this organization was, I think not even Cormac exactly new, I remember even Winston on Chapter for didn’t know about certain rules and things that the Marquis could do.

There is also KD, she is investigating a criminal under the name of Francis Scott, she once chase him to The Continental but was stop by her boss Mayhew who she is fucking too, Mayhew knows better and stops her before she gets killed but she still want in so one day the guy at the door let her in, everyone on the hotel immediately knew she was not one of them, she notice how they pay with the coins, how everyone was packed even the receptionist was arm, it was not the type of hotel she was expecting, for sure she finds out something latter on that will involve her with Winston.

Wisnton finally finds Frankie and his girlfriend Yen, very vague Frankie explains him what is going on at the hotel, he is talking about The High Table but doesn’t know much, same as the beginning this part of the episode is packed with shooting and close contact gun fight, but the ending I didn’t like so much.

I’m going to talk about the ending of episode 1, I think this series over sold a story, everyone is probably going to watch The Continental thinking it had to do something with John right from the start and they will get the same kind of quality but its not, the ending of episode 1 same thing, we loose Frankie because he knows that if he doesn’t let Winston and Yen go the end will be the same everyone dead, but WHY did he took the coin press? I think that made no sense, now that Frankie is gone him been the man of action, say the John Wick of the series who kills people with anything at hand, who is going to take that spot? , the first episode was NOT bad, I give it a 7.5/10 since it does has action as promise and it is related to the John Wick universe, lets see how the other two episodes develop and where does it takes us, I hope they are same or better than episode one. There were a few characters I didn’t mention on my recap because they are not as important been episode one is always about presenting the main characters, their motives and where is the story going and episode 1 did all this very well.

Drops of God, Episode 7 took by surprise everyone including Issei and Camille with a contest that they never thought may happen, they at first knew this was a contest with serveral test but never imagine one of them would be in front of a crowd and judges, this episode also explains how Luca turn out to be worst than Issei and Camille mothers, this story is way more complicated than it seems on the series, from what I have seen so far I think there wont be another season, but who knows, I have said this before taking in consideration that the anime is forty four volumes.

Issei live turn less painful, a guy who had everything in his life, he came from a wealthy family at least from his mother side, financially secure, not the best relationship with his parents but at least had a great one with his father and when the opportunity to be part of a contest to inherit the biggest wine collection in the world came up, his entire life falls down, his parents split up, his father ran away, his grandfather kick him out of the family and finds out his mother lie to him his entire life, his real father is the man who train him, the man who left the biggest wine collection as price for the contest he is now in, for Alexander Ledger inheritance, this story is more complicated for Issei than Camille. On Episode 8 Issei finally confront his mother, told her straight to her face he knows about the affair she had with Alexander and that his real father is Alexander, typical Honoka she throw him out of the apartment with his girlfriend Yurika. At least on episode eight Issei finally finds happiness with Yurika and even with Camille, after everything they had to through from been rivals for their father heritance they become friends, ironically on the same property his mother and her father met.

On episode seven was explain why Luca didnt want Camille next to him, she turn him down to continue with the Ledger Guide, a famous Wine Guide her father create when he start his business in Japan, it grew to the point of been the Bible of Wine, if your property and wine was hoisted on the Guide, the property and the wine went up in value, at first Camille use the Ledger Guide as a tool to get wine makers let her taste their wine on her trip to Itally but then understood how dangerous it was for the entire Wine Market, on episode eight Luca took off the mask and went directly against Camille, told her to her face he will do anything in his power to make her loose, during one of the contest other judges notice this as he tries to elevate Issei decisions, even Issei had a weird face expression when Luca talk about this wine selection with food he knew Luca was overacting and exaggerating things but didn’t know his motive.

Yurika, Issei new girlfriend started as a journalist who at first didn’t like him at all, she found him a spoil rich guy who was looking to get attention, but once he open up to her she understood on the inside he was constantly having troubles at home and when his father left he took the chance to be honest with her, she was the only person he open up with and told her everything wrong in his life, she took it very serious and decided to give her a chance to know him better, finding he is a noble person and probably miss guided because of how most of his family is, referring to his mother and grandfather, every time he is next to her she makes him happy, Yurika was the only person that was next to him during all this bad times, when his father went away and all the stress he went through during the contest for Alexander Ledger inheritance.

Issei mother, Honoka; single handed destroy his family, she lie to his grand father when she got pregnant during her affair with Alexander then getting married with Hirokazu a man that love her probably more than she deserve to then treat him like shit during many years, he probably stay with her for two reasons that was family honor and Issei, to the list we can add that latter on Hirozaku got tired of the way she treat him so decided to go away and she blame Issei for that, now Issei is obviously mad as fuck at her and confront her, as any other mother she throw him out of the apartment because she own it, ending up all alone, no husband, no son, no father.

This time Issei and Camille have to battle out in front of a crowd and three judges, they had a press conference, went through a knowledge test about wine and the combine wine with food they were given to taste, giving their opinion on their choices, they both had NO idea this was happening neither why, why it had to be so public, I think this entire event was probably modified by Luca, Alexander lawyer told Issie and Camille “I had nothing to do with organization of the event…. “, during the event Luca takes the stage and publicly mention how the winner will be the true succesor of Alexander Ledger, the winner will continue with the Ledger Guide, after all that’s all he cares about, that’s Luca’s business, even threw a cheap shot at Camille that other judges next to him caught, he said he would make sure Camille never win but he couldn’t.

At some point in the story both Camille and Issei hated the contest, both were going to quit in different occasion, at first for Issei it was just a contest but with time when he find out Alexander was his real father I think he started to felt the same way as Camille, it felt it was evil to had his two children competing for his inheritance, the worst part is the irony of where the events happen, one of the last test happen in Phillipe wine yard, where Alexander train Camille every summer and where Honoka, Issei mother; fall in love with Alexander during a trip she did with Hirozaku, its like all of them met long time ago without knowing they will be competing for the biggest wine collection in the world, even Phillipe complain when he was ask to host the last test

Even dead, he’s still a pain in the ass.

Said Phillipe who probably knew or had his doubts about Issei and Camille been brothers, Phillipe had a client name Tomine a long time ago, it was Honoka, she use to buy a lot of wine from him, on the very first purchase she bought boxes to bring back to Japan so most likely she kept buying from Phillipe all the time she was with Alexander.

Now that they started to get along, Issei comes clean with Camille and told him he got lucky on the previous contest, he cant understand how she find out about Casa de Fossati, how she figure out it was the one because he taste the wine and there were no jasmine or any other fruit or flower mention on the painting, he also told her he got lucky because he had Alexander notes from thirty years ago when he was Honoka and Hirokazu teacher and in one of his lectures the painting was mention and next to it was the name of the wine so he gave it a shot without knowing if it was the one. Camille explains Issei she just have an ability to imagine or even listen how things taste, she correlate them with other things in her life to exactly remember what is what how things smell and taste, apparently it runs on the blood because after that Issei gave it a try, at first nothing happen but then it kick in when he imagine a strawberry on the desk after he taste the wine in front of him, was the perfect moment for the Wonder Woman sound, this is another series I really enjoy and Im hoping there is a second season, from the little I have read online the manga had a lot of content to keep the Tv Series going.

I was just talking about this week about how you live long to see your heroes become the villain, that’s exactly what happen on this episode, the man who presented himself as a very simple man and best friend of Camille’s father turn out was just a vampire sucking out money and fame out of the Ledger Guide, the moment he saw his fortune threatened he turns his back to Camille since she decided not to continue, in revenge Lucas now wants her to loose the contest and sweet talk Issei to continue with the guide, problem for him is that Issei now is on Camille Team. I went through a similar situation when my grandfather died, some of my aunts and my grandmother all of the sudden change and start fighting over money and the inheritance, I was still very young but do remember the fighting, the phone calls, money change people in such bad way that it sux, some say that’s the true human face, some say you/I might not understand it because I don’t have that much money, now days I’m in a way more better economic situation and my wealth is starting to grow this past two years well enough but as a kid I remember how bad I felt some times, that’s something I don’t want for my children so this is something I got very clear to avoid having them watch their family fight over money, that’s so terrible for a kid.

Fatal Attraction Episode 7 is probably the crown jewel and at the same time if you kept judging Alex this entire time probably it will make you feel bad about it, since day one anyone who saw the movie and knows the what this series is about already knew Alex was mentally ill in some level, I did and never like her, she in fact did terrible things but it was hard to know her real motive, goals and background, well on this episode we get a lot of her background. I remember on the first episodes Alex talking to a therapist that couldn’t assist her since she had a valid license in California but insist on her looking for help, this therapist was Sarah.

Sarah was Alex therapist since she got out of College and probably prior to that stage of her life but its not describe on detail, this episode tells how a father that phytologically abuse of her, Alex father manipulate her, lie to her, lie to her mother, cheat on her mother with other women and trick Alex to be ok with that, even be her partner in crime assisting to this dates he had with other women but still making Alex feel it was ok to be like that, makes me fkn mad to see that picture, looking at him smile, I probably say that at this point in my life because I have been through worst and bad, after so many mess up I finally know what’s good for me and my children but at some point in life you have to recognize how badly you did, Stanley: Alex father never did, even after she was dead. He was the cause of all her traumas, when Alex became older she started to realize how bad her father was but still love him so much she never took a side and opt for distance from him although never took a stand and say all he did was bad for her, I mean she was in between that line is he good or bad for me? to avoid this decision decided to move out to another state without telling him.

Alex started having episodes since she was in College, this kept her from been good at working with others, it feels like she always stay at the defense thinking people are going to betray her or put her aside, make her feel like she is a second option, at the same time kept looking at people over the shoulder, this is the reflection of how her father was with her and her mother, Alex was the second option for his father and was only important when he need her, he also look at everyone over the shoulder saying he was such a great engineer and how he was above every job post he found and that’s why he was unemployed, its amazing how she even discover the love for pain after she spend an entire afternoon living her own reality for hours sitting down on the sofa after she had a very bad argument with her father, he really broke her through the years.

Probably by the time the movie came out in 1987 this type of stories were very few in real life but now days its very very close to what we know as reality, I still have one more episode to watch and still believe Dan didnt do it but he is going to jail, also that he love Beth and was willing to pay for his mistakes as a man and as a citizen, on this scene Beth thinks that the most obvious option to explain things out is the truth that Dan had an affair with Alex and she went crazy about him, not the entire story but as a lawyer he knew that will only bring public shame to his family and put him in jail for sure so he decided not to tell that story and safe Beth and his family from that circumstance as much as he could even knowing that he almost had no chance of not going to jail.

Stanley, Alex Father; really broke Alex and her mother to a point that they were competing for him, he broke the mother daughter bond, her mother should know better but that’s the problem, I have always thought there are those who do bad because they dont know better, doesn’t mean they are not accountable for their actions but thinking this way makes it useful to understand why things are happening certain way, he was constantly abusing from both, from Alex mom by not having a stable job and not been the leader of the house and from Alex making her his wing man at dates with other women even giving away her toys without her permission to kids from the women he was dating, both Alex and her mother love him very much and were blind by that love, confuse but there is nothing that can last for ever not even love when its hurt.

Sarah, Alex’s Therapist; probably for the longest since she was in College, they don’t specifically mention it but Sarah was good for Alex, she understood the problem was her father and told her many times, specifically mention it was a waist of time to fight him, Alex wont get anything useless out of him and I think that at her adult age she was not looking for love and attention anymore but for some kind of retribution, it was always a mix bag of feelings with Alex and her father, one day they love each other the other day kept fighting because he was not the center of attention until one day she decided to move away from him, move to California but sadly for Alex she stop seen a therapist, when someone is so broken like Alex she cant stop going to therapy, she needed help, those on her daily life routine don’t know or understand her problems so she needed someone qualify to help her, worst part is that she could not recognize it, that’s why didn’t take her too long to cause troubles in California, with her neighbors, co workers and eventually with Dan.

Besides been a Alex episode, it has a bit of everything, one thing that caught my attention is that Ellen, Dan’s daughter is spying on her teacher, at first I thought she did it because wanted to safe her friend Stella from been a second plate for her professor Richard but I don’t think its the case anymore, there is just something going on that if there is not a second season we probably wont details.

Episode 7 does give the meat and potatoes of Dan’s trial, he was put against the wall many times, without revealing he had an affair with Alex basically lying because excluding part of the truth can be consider lying, I’m no lawyer; for him was like fighting with his hands tied to his back, he tried everything but eventually knew he had to take it and go to prison for a crime he didn’t do, within the justice system he was too big and failing was a big story, had so many against him that he had no chance, same thing happen when he appeal his case, the judge at the time told him he had received enough attention, basically she was not going to give him the luxury of proving he was innocent, sometimes that’s how the system works.

On episode 7 we finally understand WHY Alex was broken, her childhood had a bunch of red flags, perfect combination of bad parenting
– Mom & Daughter jealous over father
– Father cheating with other women
– Mother blames daughter for not telling where is dad
– Father puts up his mistress daughter before Alex

It was just a matter of time before that kid start growing confuse of whats right and wrong, kids are so delicate mentally, they don’t have the experience nor the malice to distinguish why her father in this case, behave that way and question if is is right or not, and finally when she grow up she fells his father is all she has, in this case he feels threatened that now grown up Alex will take the spot light out of him so he starts to diminish her accomplishments and decisions, she feels along, only person she loved and trust is not supporting her so when depression hits not everyone takes it the same way, she got affected badly to the point to seek refuge in pain for how bad she was feeling, after this episode I still don’t like Alex but I start feeling sorry for her.

Episode 8, Legacy, puts an end to the mini series A Small Light, I really enjoy it, the cast and production was awesome with stars like Liev Schreiber, Ian McElhinney the ones I recognize but Bel Powley doing Miep was the star of the show, she was awesome been funny and such a good friend to the Frank’s, so loyal always giving the extra mile to the point of constantly putting her life on the line for her friends, now days is very rare to see those qualities on a friend.

I’m not going to pretend I know much about World War II or any other war but I have learn a few things from this series, for the most part is a very moving series and Episode 8 in my opinion is the one that will bring some tears out, I cant imagine Mr. Frank’s suffering after loosing everyone and everything, his friends and family who stayed hiding with him for over two years, from the series perspective they were arrested very close to the end of the war between two to six months, but at the time just getting arrested was a death sentence, the Frank’s and friends were all send to different camps, probably lucky for many didn’t have to suffer as long as others that were caught earlier and end up surviving but still that short time was enough to take everything from Mr. Frank, even though it was probably less than a year he lost his entire family, ironically he was the head of the house and did everything he could to keep safe his wife and daughters but end up loosing them and he survive.

Miep stay in front of the business in Mr. Frank absence, so she was not even a good friend but also a loyal employee, she was once told to sell the business, she didn’t owe anything to Mr. Frank but she didn’t and kept pushing, even though there were times when she loose all hope she keep bring it back and kept saying some day they will return home, this episode is mostly about Miep but also is a combination of many people who ran away from the city hiding in the countryside, many who after the ware recognize Jan as the guy who safe them, safe their children and family, he did felt like a hero but he went through rough times too, close to the end of the war the city was in lock down by the remaining German Officers who were taking all Dutch man to work camps so now Miep was the only one going out, she was in charge of bringing food to the table since Jan couldn’t even go out, the worst part of such situation is not knowing when its going to end.

Episode 8 of A Small Light starts with Miep at the German’s HQ, she tries to bribe German Officer Karl Silberbauer after he took the Frank’s but even though he wanted since the moment he arrested them he knew there was nothing he could do to stop it since there were other officers present, there was not much to bribe them all, during those times if he get caught trying to let them go most likely he would get killed and probably on the spot, when Miep confront him another officer probably with higher rank ask him to hurry up the paper work, Officer Kurt, Miep tried to go over Karl but it end up worst for her, Kurt took the money and ask officers to throw her out of the building, at that moment Miep understood there was nothing she could do about it, from that moment she start living just with the hope one day the would come back home alive.

The book is very famous for bringing the memories of Anne Frank, the series brings a more graphic explanation of this, during the entire series Anne kept telling Miep all her dreams and plans she had, goals she wanted to achieve once they war was over and they go out again, for Anne getting caught was never an option, Miep was aware of all this and broke her heart when she went back into the room they were staying and say Anne’s diary all over the floor, she pick up all the remaining sheets and so other books of her, all Anne’s memories, during the war citizens where told to collect letters and safe them as those will be the memories of many who didn’t make it.

Close to the end of the war things got very very tight, there was no food, no money and mostly women and old men were aloud to go out, Germans who remain in the city were taking all Dutch men to working camps, Germans knew they were about to loose the war so they were doing what ever they could to grasp as much as they could, for some who got arrested close to the end they were lucky enough to survive and not suffer for much time, in the case of Jan and Miep they stay together through all this time, that says a lot from both and Miep was now the head of the house, on the series they were always together, had a few arguments but always together during good and bad times, like on this picture they almost had nothing to eat and no wood for the fire, they had to brake a chair to make fire.

Not all heroes wear capes, Jan and Miep became war heroes, not everyone knew but Jan work with the resistance at first to help Miep and the Franks but latter on end up saving a lot of people, sneaking kids out of the city to the country side, when the war was over looks like a good amount of people recognize him on the streets, at least if it was two or three he must have felt very proud same for Miep, what they did for others was an act of heroism, putting their life on the lines for those who didn’t have a voice and could not defend themselves.

The train lines were reactivated and those that were taken as prisoners out of the city start coming back home, some like Mr. Frank lost everything including their houses, at first he still had hope his daughters and wife would come back, visit their apartment now occupied by a young couple, he didn’t ask for his apartment back but only to let his family know he is with Miep in case they come back but one day the answer to his questions arrive, Jan, Miep and the other employees at the office start sending letters and putting up signs looking for the girls and Mrs. Frank until a women who knew them form the working camps arrive and let her know they didn’t make it, this was probably the worst moment of the episode, it was the end of a long wait, not the answer they were looking for but at least their suspense and suffering ended on that moment.

Miep and Jan had a kid called Paul, Mr. Frank stay close to them, he probably move out to another place but they always stay together until his last day alive, Miep lived until she was a hundred years old, Miep was a women who was blessed, she went through all this experiences and had the strength to live for so long, proud, telling her stories of war, how an ordinary secretary did everything she could to safe his friends and family, for Miep nationality or beliefs didn’t mean anything, it was about the quality of the of the person, even when someone was not of her liking she still was fair to everyone, even with German Officer Karl she felt how he knew it was not right what he was doing when he raid Mr. Frank office and arrest them, trust others during the war was hard but she always had this sense to identify those telling the truth and been fair.

I found the Small Light fantastic, not only me but a lot of people seem to like it, an 8.4/10 on IMDB is no joke, I never read the book so I do not know how much it follows the real story but anyone who watch this mini series should know the ending, its very sad how Mr. Frank ends up alone, his daughters and wife died at the camps but at the same time is comforting how they mention that he stay with Miep and Jan, I think Miep could even see him as a father considering that her relationship with her family was very vague after she had to be send out of Germany because of the war and poverty, this series makes you wonder or at least made me ask myself why are humans not this loyal and good to each other, it all comes down to money, fame and power, during those times that I think barely exist, there was no internet, social network, branding clothe I think was not such hype so people concentrate more on each other for who they were and not what they had, I wish I was born prior the 80’s because every time I watch a series from those eras makes me envy and I would trade all the tech we have now to make those times come back, I was born in the 80’s without internet or cellphones, I saw all that tech emerge and how it has devalue society, it will never be the same.

Danny confronts his Step Dad and Yitzhak offers him a place to stay!

This is the first time I see Tom Holland performing out of the Spiderman suit, as other actors who work a franchise, that is Spiderman; he had made a ton of money out of it and would be great to see him performing different characters, I had no interest on Uncharted but have seen him on The Devil All The Time and Cherry, now on The Crowded Room, I like his work, doesn’t seem force and the awkward different kid role suits him very well.

On episode two after Danny gets caught by the police he is now interrogated by Rya, a psychiatrist directing the interrogation for the police, the story starts to unfold, Danny starts to describe Ariana his roommate and partner in crime since the police have not got to her after the shooting, she was a wild one, the story develops around the 70’s with a lot of drugs, disco music and she was a creature of the night, always leaving home at night to party and arriving early in the morning, drunk, crying, she was very unstable and some how got Danny sucked into her world. Rya tries to pressure Danny to tell her more about Ariana, on that same roadmap is Yitzhak they are after him too, probably because they think there is more than the shooting but they know Danny was just a tool for Ariana and Yitzhak, Danny still doesn’t break or at least seem to do not know what was really going on but he also haven’t finish his side of the story, why they really try to kill that guy? where was Yitzhak all the time? what was Ariana hiding that disturbs her so much? those are the questions Rya is after.

Rya starts doing some police work and goes back where everything started, The Ghost House, where Yitzhak, Ariana and Danny where staying, she thought she might find something useful in there, something that can she can use with Danny to dig up the truth or least show him he was all wrong thinking he was friends with Yitzhak and Ariana and he was just been used or at least that’s the impression I get from Rya. In the house she finds Danny drawing book, this was the 70’s, no internet, no cell phones, so people had to do common things to stay entertained, Danny’s was to draw things he think a lot about.

Danny confronts his step father after him and Danny’s mother came looking for him, after Danny got beat up by Bill he didn’t know what to do and stay with Yitzhak but he was sure didn’t want to go back home and deal with his bully step father so he stay, Yitzhak protect him, Danny felt safe, he was just a kid, with troubles at home and school, someone new, someone he felt safe with make sense but he didn’t know better, Danny was the kind of kid who trusted everyone. Danny explains all this to Rya but she wanted more, I know for a fact when you are a kid and had that many troubles sometimes you act irrational, not everything you do has a meaning or a reason you just do you, most of the time you don’t think and don’t know better, that’s why when we are teenagers do stupid things that regret after, so when adults ask WHY? you don’t know what to answer because you don’t know why.

Yitzhak was always out so Ariana and Danny where alone at the house for the most part, the first day he aloud Danny stay he lay down the house rules for him:

Go to school or GED
Pay rent in time
No party in the house
No sex in the house
No drugs in the house

Ariana, the first time Danny met her she was kind with him and offer him food so she must be a good person right? that’s what probably Danny thought, he had this innocent expression in his face when she gave him a sandwich, like how nice of her.

Things turn out different next day, she always came home early in the morning, drunk, high, crying, and when Danny offer her comfort all he got back was a “Fuck off Danny”, but Danny thought they got well together like they understood each other without even talking, at least on his head, that’s how Danny explains his relationship with Ariana to Rya.

Rya kept setting traps trying to get Danny to slip and tell her what she is looking for, but Danny again either didn’t know shit and was been used or at the end he is going to be this psychopath who no one never saw coming because saw far all his answers are I don’t remember, I don’t know or everyone is nice to me.

There was this girl Annabelle, Danny was crazy for her and would do anything to be with her even braking house rules, everything that Yitzhak said was prohibit he almost did that night without the sex, worst part is that Ariana stole Annabelle from him that night with the excuse that she was drunk, Rya was right about that, Danny kept thinking Ariana was his friend when she wasn’t, Ariana was a selfish bitch who only care about herself, there was nothing to understand about her.

To close with Ariana, her erratic behavior was not only with Danny but to everyone else, she was constantly trying to be someone she was not, trying to show she always was the one in control even with Jerome a guy she date but only at the disco, when the party was over she try to pretend she was someone else.

Rya kept pushing this narrative to Danny and finally he show more than his calm attitude and snap when Rya told him “what are you not telling yourself?” , he either got tired of her constant pressure for him to talk or say something he doesn’t know or there was a trigger point between Yitzhak getting rid of Ariana and Danny hiding the facts, the interview gets intense.

This is a series I’m picking up from June, a mini series with a lot of character, we got this kid Danny, confused, looked innocent, but at the same time could be a monster beneath that calm face, Ariana we already got clear who she was but what keeps me thinking is who are really Ytizhak and Danny, what are their agendas, who is the bad guy, there is a lot of mystery around Yitzhak. i got no complains about the actors, most of them are very well known for different performances Spiderman, Fauda, Shameless, Loki, Mr. Robot, The Dropout and the list goes on, the case is very good plus the story itself develop with Danny interview creating the entire structure of the story gives the viewer easy access to knowing whats going on without having to revisit scenes, having to pause and rewind.

Dead Ringers – Season 1 – Episode 6 – RECAP

Dead Ringers is probably one of the few series that watching an episode every week will get you lost, from the fact that you have twins that switch places at will depending how well they feel with their current situation, to the delusional state of Elliot, one of the twins; sometimes you end up without knowing how to difference from their reality to the effect of drugs and alcohol, I’m sure this is a Mini Series because I don’t know how they would fit another season after the last episode. This TV Show needs to be watch either during a day or at least sperate them in two parts, three episodes each, so its easy to keep up. I never saw the original movie and now have a perfect excuse, Dead Ringers from 1988 plus I still have to watch Fatal Attraction from 1987 so I can compare their two modern versions. One thing I would advice is not to compare them as in a heads up race because this series are not intend to be the same, they are similar, adapted to modern tv guidelines and meta, trying to take a movies from the 80’s and adapt them into a TV Show as Mini Series so comparing them will ruin the experience.

Episode six brings the end to this Mini Series, an end that I was not expecting, by this episode Elliot is lost, devastated, at times I thought she was going to kill someone, its very little what’s known about her during the previous and this episode. Beverly is pushed to destroy Elliot after Silas a writer covering their story and their birthing center got them against the wall, threatening to destroy everything with what he found about Elliot, all I’m saying might make sense if both twins, Elliot and Beverly are alive, living the during the same space and time but it doesn’t seem to be that way, in just the very last minutes of the series, everything is changed and there are a few things that will make no sense anymore, its like they give you two separate endings or two separate stories, the ending was Epic.

After Beverly decided to move out and start a life with Genevieve, Elliot is no where to be found or at least next to Beverly, this kind of make sense to what could be an alternate ending for the series, Beverly has everything she wanted, when they started all she wanted was getting pregnant, have their birthing center running with them having total control of it, at first Rebecca their mayor investor was always on their way but towards the end with their success she gave them more freedom. Everything looks great for Beverly, clear skies but it looks like she cant be happy, she probably does not know what that is like. From the start I have been thinking they are in love with each other, the Twins, they cant be far from each other and this is killing Beverly on the inside even though she doesn’t express it.

Rebecca and her wife Susan invite Beverly and Genevieve to dinner at a restaurant, they are nominated for “The Karlovich Institute Award” so they gather to celebrate their success in science and the business, the techniques that they have develop within the birthing center has help many women so its becoming very popular, at the same time the business side is thriving, they must be making a killing from all this patients, at the end Beverly seem to accept that the birthing center is not for the masses, is not for poor people, she tried to fight this concept at first but this kind of boutique clinics are for a wealthy sector.

After celebrating, the real reason why they were their, the reason everyone knows about except Beverly, even Genevieve talk to Susan and Rebecca behind her back, they want Beverly to publicly recognize Elliot has nothing else to do with the business from no on, the dinner was an ambush, Beverly only had two options, be loyal to her twin sister or burn her to the ground after Silas has written a very well article explaining all Elliot’s abuse, miss behave, drugs addiction and potentially murder accusation, this could end everything Beverly dream of.

After the dinner the thought that she doesn’t know and cant be happy was born on Beverly’s mind and coincidence a patient came back to the clinic who is having a very hard time with been a mother and describe it as “awful mistake that I can’t figure out how to take back” similar to what Beverly is experiencing after she have finally achieve everything she always dream the only problem is that Elliot is not there with her making her feel sad, empty, like no matter how much success she has if its not with Elliot its pointless, until this point there is all kind of proof that Elliot is real, she still alive, she appears on a few scenes during episode six, doesn’t say or interact much but she still there.

The night of the award comes, Beverly is under a lot of group pressure and she gives in, throws Elliot under the bus in front of everyone and there is only one person who still probably cares and tries to safe Elliot, that’s Elliot’s right arm at the lab, Tom, he is a bit less devilish when it comes to science but still walk the same path as Elliot, he confronts Beverly and I like how from one second from another he looks totally drunk, wasted but suddenly starts talking perfectly fine telling Beverly how Elliot did all this for her and this is how she pays her own sister, its like Beverly is living in two realities, this is the first time that looks like Beverly is experiencing things from another reality, she constantly hear the word “Baby Sister” and feels like Elliot is next to her but scene with Tom as creepy.

After the event Silas went to visit a gallery where Greta, the twins maid, was performing, she is a very talented artist, drawing, paints and even acting, during all the episodes she took thinks from the twins and even their parents, all kind of objects from clothes, trash, tampons, and use it for their art, I thought initially she was another scientist trying to steal their experiments although she did have a lot of information about the Twins, including most Elliot’s crazy adventures and Silas tries to exploit that, but we most likely wont know what’s next since this is a mini series from my understanding.

This is not the first time that Beverly gets mad at her sister and distance from her but this is the first time she hurt Elliot so bad, the first time Elliot end up so high she actually killed a women throwing her out of the balcony and then thought she hallucinate it, eventually Beverly came back and so she did this time, Genevieve went out on a business trip and Beverly took the chance to visit Elliot, the apartment was a total mess but Elliot was not there. Beverly goes to the only place she could be and that was her lab, there was Elliot with two big babies artificially grown waiting for Beverly. This is where the story start to shift into possible endings.

At the lab the twins have this conversation where Beverly decides to die so her sister can live on as Beverly, Elliot injects her and cut her open taking out the babies, its impressive and gore, lots of blood, the scene was very savage so I didn’t want to post pictures. I remember Rebecca saying at the start of the episode during the dinner, Elliot was her favorite of the two, Elliot is now at a bed sitting with Susan and Rebecca and you can tell how Rebecca knows she is Elliot and Elliot gets it but tries to cover up.

Its a very twisted ending because what happen with Beverly? we see Tom crying leaving the city but is he caring Beverly body in the trunk of his car? or is he caring the two babies that Elliot grew on the lab? because those are never mention.

The episode DOES NOT END when credits come up, there are a few more minutes with Beverly/Elliot sitting at the park where a women stop to talk to her and in the exchange she mention it must be hard for her to talk about her DEAD sister, Elliot/Beverly has NO RECORD, NO MEMORY of this happening so was Elliot or Beverly part of her imagination, she as Beverly says how when they were 10 she says

Do you remember when we went swimming and I could not find you or you could not find me?? ….I couldn’t get back to the boat or you couldn’t ….

Elliot says that didn’t happen, but Beverly describe it as she doesn’t know who is talking is it either Beverly or Elliot?? makes me think that this entire time most of the story was part of Beverly imagination, besides they are genius Beverly and Elliot so may be everyone around her learn to deal with her double personality but at the end only one survive, the end will make your brain explode if you saw the entire series. I give this series a solid 7.5

The Walking Dead – Dead City : Who’s There? – Season 1 – Episode 2 – RECAP

This is one of those series where people will be expecting for it to be as good as the original, The Walking Dead; but everything is different on its own way, some of the characters might be the same but there are new stories, new motives, now zombies are not the topic at hand but people themself, I think for the most part of the original series, the last seasons; most likely were not about the Zombies and that’s when part of the audience abandon the series but those who were fan of the charterers carry on. Starting next month October I’m planing on starting to watch a few long series like The Walking Dead, series I never finish mostly due to the amount of episodes but its been years trying to appreciate TV Series and I think I can now finish it.

That is Dead City, its about the characters and not about the Zombies anymore, its very unlikely that characters on the series will be killed because Zombies got them, for the most part it will be because they were betray, left behind, were hurt, many other reasons but not because they got chase and trap by Zombies. Negan and Maggie are going and learning this jungle that is Manhattan but at the same time they are going to know each other better, they got a lot of story between them but have never work as a team, like now; both with a common goal and assets on the line like the kids they want to protect, but Maggie probably didn’t know both sides of Negan, she only knew the monster who killed her husband.

Negan is and old dog now, he was retired, but still has a bag full of tricks, Maggie and him are after The Croat, in a city that is not their own, they don’t know it but as he once mention, he knows how The Croat operates, after all it was him who train him, he had one chance to put him down once he saw what a savage he was but he miss, he also shows on a few scenes, when Esther was killed Negan didn’t went nuts and blew his brains out mediated but instead he did what he does best, put up a show for his friends and let them know who is the big dog.

On Dead City there is a zip line system between buildings that people use to move from one to another, Maggie stuff was taking by a strange lady and they don’t know where they going, they just start chasing her but at the same time Zombies are getting closer, here hit me a original series flash back, was the perfect opportunity for Negan to stab her in the back and not throw her back the slider and let her probably get eaten or just ran away but he didn’t, Negan has no agenda on this series, he just want to stay away from the Marshall that is after him and go back with Giny and make sure she is safe.

Esther was the first person who was friendly to them in Manhattan, once they got to her now they met Tommaso and Amaia, at that point they don’t know what to think about them but have a feeling they are not with The Croat, Amaia is the brains, Tommaso the muscle and both are leader to a small group of survivors against The Croat but this Negan and Maggie don’t know yet.

Maggie and Negan are put into time out until Tommaso and Amaia figure out who they really are, Maggie is on a hurry because she wants to get Hershel, her son; back from The Croat and Negan he already know how this works, he invented the game, so patiently waits and avoid confrontation as they were disarm and out number. In this room Negan explains Maggie who The Croat was, how he took him into his brother hood, called him Buraz (brother), but Negan had no idea the monster that The Croat was, Negan different than him was a man who only act when it was necessary but The Croat was different, he knew to sniff people and figure out what they were after if not he would make them speak one way or another, methods that Negan didn’t agree at first but were useful in the world they were living until one day The Croat went too far, a girl, a drifter who Negan felt was not a threat to them but The Croat felt different and despite Negan direct order he killed her, a kid, in his own words “rabid dog that needed to be put down” that’s when Negan knew this man was a train wreck, tried to put a bullet to his head but he missed and only blew up his ear.

The Burazi (The Croat’s people) got to their place so Nega, Maggie, Tommaso and Amaia had to pick up things and run away but Esther got caught by one of them and killed by one of the Burazi, don’t what their orders were but kept repeating “Doma smo”, in Croatian (Google translate) “We are at home”, this is when Negan knew it was time to play some mind games.

Negan takes the Burazi that killed Esther, kick his ass and went to the room the rest of them were, starts a knock knock joke and then cut his neck and guts out, creating a thunderstorm of blood on top of the Burazi, you really need to be a bad ass to not get intimidated by Negan’s actions, a man who can cut up some one this easy without thinking twice is dangerous and wont stop until he gets what he wants. This is what Negan meant when he told Maggie he knew when he had to act to protect his people, in this moment he was at work performing to protect Maggie and the rest, this shocked her since she was looking when Negan cut up the Burazi.

While Maggie and Negan were risking their lives at Manhattan there was Giny, who was staying safe at Hiltop, Maggie’s home town; but she was not feeling welcome neither ok staying there, she wants to be with Negan for some reason and there is something on Giny probably learn from Negan, to read people and I think there is something more than what Maggie said about The Croat, Maggie at first mention The Croat took all their grain and her son to make sure Hiltop keeps bringing in more supplies to when ever the Burazi comes back, Giny runs away and is now on her way to Negan. I wonder how she going to locate them, they are in Manhattan, had to cross a big river, may be she finds a boat too but in such large city how she going to find them? its TV after all so anything can happen.

I like how the city is presented, looks like a jungle that will eat you up, just like most cities in Asia with dense population, except here the population is dead but can still eat you, reminds me The Last of Us where the city was also infected and cover up with vegetation. This episode is the clear example of how the story rewinds and start to unfold what probably many didn’t think about, why Negan was the man he was, what happen to him that he turn that way because on The Walking Dead when he killed Maggie’s husband that was probably one of the coldest scenes ever on the series, slam him with the bat right on the head in front of the rest of the prisoners, Maggie been one of them, but he did all this to protect his people. Even after all this years while Maggie has also become more strong and though than others she is not a Negan level, she saw how the big dog turns on the switch and step up when needed, we now have to sides at war, Amaia and Tommaso will most likely take in Maggie and Negan, help them to kill The Croat or at least try because I’m sure wont be that easy. Spin off are hard to accept, they need to bring in something new to the story and I think Dead City does, brings in the true Negan and not just more Zombies or side stories, at least I’m interested to know The Croat and Negan story, how they started, things that happen in between and how this ends for both.

This is a TV Series that I would love to have been posting when it started to cover it and today after its second season HBO decided to cancel it, I haven’t seen how it ends but did had a blast watching season one so no complains, I will probably comment about why it got cancel latter on LeoThreads.

Second mention before I start, this is not a documentary, this is a TV Show, meaning that I expect a lot of it not been as close to real story, although this might have to do why they cancel it shortly after two seasons since the LA Lakers story I’m sure is more than just two season, so DO NOT expect this TV Show to cover every single character exactly as they were in real life.

I believe Winning Time is that type of series that you can watch right from season two and still have fun with it as it is mostly a comedy, characters like Jerry Buss, Magic Johnson, Norm Nixon, Michael Cooper, during the entire TV series they would always put a smile on your face, specially Jerry Buss.

This Tv Series covers a mix of different characters specially on season one when the entire structure of the story is created, season two is the continuation after the Jerry Buss bought the LA Lakers, change the business for ever turning NBA games into a party, he wanted people to come to The Forum (La Lakers Stadium at the time) to watch the game, come to the bar, spend time there watching the game and then party after Lakers win, that was the plan but not always work. This change the perception of a basketball game into a show with more attractions than just the game or the players, creating a bigger audience, building revenue (not always, at least was the idea) and trying to turn The Forum into a successful business, a place that can host more than just NBA games.

I not going to pretend to be the biggest NBA fan and know all the details about its story but I do know when to appreciate a good TV Show. I’m from the 80’s and my two bigger cousins were hard core NBA fans, Michael Jordan fans, I saw the greatest player in history play the game latter on saw other players like Kobe Bryant, Shaquile Oneal, Karl Malone and extensive list of great players so I became a fan too, specially Michael Jordan fan. I do remember one of the most hardcore cities in NBA was Boston, during the times of this TV Show it was LA Lakers vs Boston Celtics, on season two the Lakers just won their first title and are looking to repeat the story, every time they face the Celtics it was war, specially if the Lakers win the game they were chase to their bus and had to run away before they were run down by the fans.

Episode two starts with Magic Johnson having some troubles for not been careful enough, during the TV Show he was presented as a young man, with a lot of talent, who started making a ton of money at the Lakers and love to party and was very smooth with the ladies, this got him into hot water, one of this ladies insist he got her pregnant and now Magic face a though decision, to not “stain” his image now his legal council wants to make a deal with this woman so she never speaks about it and in exchange will receive “financial assistance” in exchange for silence, Magic found this cold at first but lawyers sweet talk him to believe he cant afford a scandal not now that big sponsors are after him.

Latter on down the line Kareem, his mother and ex girlfriend had Magic change his mind about been a father, he was a good guy in a world full of snakes trying to stay feeding of his success so from time to time he got blind but all this fame and money that comes with success.

Ever since Magic got into the team he was a revolutionary and most of the time step out his boundaries, he was special player, one of the best on the team but he was no captain although he though he was, constantly he was trying to convince the other players, but for years before him Kareem got the Lakers lock down, he was the captain that all players respect and would not turn their backs on him for no body specially not for Magic.

Jerry Buss, one of the main characters, one of my favorites, was a man with a lot of vision, he knew that the future was not the games but the show, the different attractions that he could build around the game, Celtics already got the game but he was after something bigger than just winning the season, he wanted to revolutionize the sport and in the way make a ton of money. He knew that in order to win again one of the first things he had to do was to lock down the team, keep his players, now some of them have become starts others went up in value so he decided to skyrocket their contracts into the thousands, something that again change the story and was consider insanity by any other person within the NBA business.

Jeanie Buss, Jerry’s daughter, was the only one in the family with his father vision, she support him in every single crazy idea he had, she also had his ambition for making The Forum something bigger than just NBA games, also had a strong temper to keep up with his father something her brothers didn’t, they were too soft for Jerry, this eventually brakes the family apart.

Kareem was going through a rough time, he look out of shape, but not necessarily physically, probably it was the fact that he was about to be a father, Magic saw the opportunity and tried to take over the team but Kareem would not go down without a fight, also the rest of the team including the coach respect him and knew he is the cap, not Magic, this would not stop Magic from trying at least to show others he can be better than Kareem, at the same time he still fear Kareem too in a funny way.

The thing about skyrocket players contract, made Jerry West go nuts, Buss was about to pay players what he earn almost in their entire carrier, but again there was that Jerry Buss vision of revolutionize the sports business.

Karma is a bitch, the moment Magic though he could take over the team, complaining about Kareem shape, he gets his knew injured and cant play for three months, this obviously makes everybody on the team go crazy because Magic is not just a good player anymore, he is one of their biggest stars, they feel their chances of keeping the title diminish with Magic absence.

Lakers start to loose a good amount of games but head coach Paul Westhead comes with “The System”, he had this idea to get all his five starting players to move fast down the court and shoot as soon as they get the back, from specific places where they are the most effective, something that players didn’t agree with since in a bad night shutting that fast would make them loose the game, they were more use to build up their game, improvising but with Magic out of the team due to his injure it was hard for them to win this way, at first the players denied to play as Paul ask them but down the line agree to give it a try, Kareem took the lead and a few games before Magic was ready to at least walk again they started to win games.

Magic becomes a father, get his cast off his leg, comes back as spectator after so long just to watch Larry Bird beat their ass like it was nothing, there was bad blood between Magic and Bird from way before they got into NBA.

At the moment of this post I have not read the article about why HBO decided to cancel the show but as you can tell is a very entertaining story that I know any NBA fan after the 90’s would love, I say this because for those who know the exact story might not be as pleasant since I’m sure the TV Show is not exactly as it happen in real time, as a TV Show is very entertaining and could get new eyes into the sport. The story covers a lot of characters that had a lot of material to probably produce five seasons out of it, only two seasons will probably be too short depending on how they decide to end it, just season one was great and it tries to cover their first title win and I don’t think a bad job at it, also consider that Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty got 8.3/10 on IMDB.

After season one it was hard to know what really happen to Rand al Thor, doubly but probably the main character on the series I say doubly because it was Moiraine who choose him to be the most powerful out of the five she took from The Two Rivers, after all the one who did show her powers but could not control them as most was Nynaeve, on top of looking, describe by Liandrin

The most powerful weapon they got in the last thousand years against The Dark One.

Rand was the one chosen to travel The Eye of The world and meet The Dark One, at that point The Dark One vanish, the heart stone brakes and team WOT (Rand, Moiraine, Lan) are disoriented now knowing what all this means and what will happen next, Rand looks back like “I’m getting the fuck out of here” and walks back into the forest. After his encounter with The Dark One he started dreaming, nightmares, things from the future, that could not let him sleep, besides he now works at an asylum, he is probably trying to get away from reality because he fears what he could do with this power that he posses but cant control and doesn’t understand, on his dreams he kill all his friends and wakes up with blood in his hands not knowing what he did or why.

The situation between Moiraine and Lan is not getting any better, Episode One describe the silence and treatment Moiraine has against Lan, after she lost her powers is like she turn into a sad women who just wants to be alone and Lan cant sense her anymore so he has no idea whats going on with her.

Egwene finally understands why she cant move forward why she cant keep developing her powers and is probably envy and jealousy for Nynaeve, but she could not get to this conclusion alone, we most of the time cant see things from a different perspective and its her new partner at The White Tower who open her eyes and made her understood she has to stop and reorganize her thoughts if she wants to continue and success.

Far away from everyone else Perrin is having an adventure of his own, he and Loial became very close, both join a quest to find The Horn of Valere, a horn use to call heroes to battle when the time comes, with him are Loial, Uno Monesta and Lord Yakota, on season one Perrin as the rest of this friends started to wake up his powers but doesn’t control them or understand them, from what I can tell he is what they call a tracker, he can sense when things had happen and for now he can see the past, not sure if he could see the future like Min Farshaw does. Perrin and the group of warriors he is with arrive to a place that seem to be raided by someone or something, they are guided by a tracker just like him, on this place is the second time Perrin show his powers, he sees exactly what happen but was confuse, he could not distinct from reality at first until he wakes up and find himself with the rest of the guys in the same room instead of the people he watch sitting at the table, on episode one not only the same thing happen but he also saw the girl that was with Ishamael and now he sees how a Shadowspawn was at the same room killing everyone.

What ever was on that place also killed the Shadowspawn, what makes me think it was probably Padin Fain, Im not sure exactly what is his purpose but he does seem to do erratic things like chasing the girl that was with Ishamael or playing been friends with Perrin at the Two Rivers, he reminds me a lot to Loky, does have that trickster vibes.

Rand working at the asylum is a way of escaping his reality, his life has change a lot since he got out of Two Rivers with the rest of his friends, discover his powers that he had no idea it exist but now the very same powers makes him violent at times, loose control of himself, this is something Liandrin mention on season one, male who can touch the power usually go insane, the case of who they called The False Dragon, a man Logain Ablar who I thought we would never see again on the series.

There are a few things on this episode that you might think are coincidence but in my opinion they were perfectly planned mostly by Liandrin, she have been talking to Nynaeve and Mat, trying to sweet their ears with different agendas for both, she thinks Mat is the Dragon and will loose himself again and in the case of Nynaeve she wants to weaponize her.

Mat block cell neighbor was Min Farshaw a women who can have visions about peoples future, describe by herself sometimes they can change and sometimes end up been real, in my opinion Liandrin did this on purpose to figure out what will Mat be capable in the future, Mat open a hole on the wall and got Min to spend some time with him and before she left had this vision of Mat stabbing Rand with the same blade consume him on season one, there are a lot of things making reference to season one.

I plan on covering season one latter down the line, I also had to pull some of season one episodes to remember how things happen, this series cover different stories at the same time, not only from the main characters.

Liandrin has not only been sweet talking to Nynaeve but also the other Aes Sedai to stop wasting her time and powers as a novice and get her right into training to expand and control her powers, Nynaeve has a very peculiar power that she can regenerate from others Aes Sedai power, on season one she almost turn into dust after getting hit by their collective power and then regenerate herself.

The rest of Liandrin sisters have agree to this except Alanna Mosvani who still believe that there is a process and reason why Nynaeve should not take short cuts with her training but the truth is that Nynaeve has no interest to be novice so she also agree with Liandrin to move forward, she is taken to a cave, a room that holds what looks like a portal.

Far away from the rest of his friends, Perrin and the other warriors with him looking for the Horn of Valere face the army of High Lady, Ishamael is next to her, we saw this army at the end of season one on the last episode, their ships arriving, lot of ships, High Lady Suroth has brought what seems to be a very powerful army, different that the Aes Sedai she brought soldiers, similar to the movie 300 where Leonidas brings warriors and Xerxes slaves, in the case of the Aes Sedai they dont bring slaves but most of their women are not as ready for battle and are probably out number, when High Lady Suroth arrives reminds me of Xerxes with the exception that she might be very powerful, I’m probably just talking shit because I know nothing else about this story rather than what I have seen so far, probably the one good thing about my blog, I’m telling things as I see them without trying to compare the series with the books.

Perrin and the rest of the crew had no chance, they were out number and out power, High Lady Suroth asks Ishamael “are they ready?” , he answers “they have to be” , ready for what? are they going to be transform into their slave army? what are their real porpuse? are they really the bad ones? because even the Aes Sedai at The White Tower in season one question Moiraine motives and goals thinking that she and her agenda could be a threat to all.

This episode is full of season one reference, Rand again lost control and killed a man, Yann; who work with him at the asylum, this guy use to mock one of Rand favorite patients so one night Rand follow the guy and beat him up to dead, during that moment he lost control of his powers and beat him up to death to then run away, this guy he just killed was in charge of taking care of Logain Ablar, The False Dragon, a man who Liandrin and other Aes Sedai track down and defeat before he raise an army large enough, this man was able to touch the power but based on the Aes Sedai experience he would eventually turn insane so he had to be stop, they took his powers and ends up on the same asylum Rand is working at, I don’t think this was a coincidence, once Logain shows up I thought none of this was a coincidence and Rand had an agenda at been there

WOT episodes are a hand full sometimes, episode two is full of references to season one, tons of characters that take time to remember, I have been back linking to WOT fandom page so readers can have a background of the characters besides my opinion, for some reason I have seen people making posts about how boring this season is but I think after episode three it will stop making reference and getting viewers to catch up so the story can move on, at least there was some action and drama at the same time, lot of drama at The White Tower, probably what really bored me is the story between Lan and Moiraine they can get along anymore even though he keeps putting his life at risk for her, Lan could eventually get tired of been push away and move on, dont think thats going to happen but its a possibility in my opinion, I had a blast watching episode two and I’m eager to watch The White Tower fight High Lady Suroth army, while I was going through the fandom page find out they want to conquer and expand their kingdom, Seanchan; this gives me GOT vibes where Seanchan and Westlands might have to unite powers to fight a bigger threat, this are just speculations of my own at trying to figure out whats next, hope you enjoy this series as much as I do.
