Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – Departure – Season 01 – Episode 02 -RECAP

MONARCH could easy be one of the best TV series of 2023, the scores are not crazy high across sites like TMDB, IMDB and RTT but it has been everything I hope from the start, that was introduce a good story about all the characters this means Keiko, Shaw Lee, Cate, Bill and now their grand child and on top good monsters with an S scenes and not just Godzilla, this TV series has also push me to watch the three movies related to it so I could have a better understanding of why things happen in certain way and there is still one scenes I cant get why, that’s when Bill is been chase by a giant spider filming ask someone to forgive him for all he “Bill” took from him.. still probably one of the best TV series of 2023 with great contenders like Silo and The Wheel of Time, no doubt the Hollywood Strike hit hard the industry but there are still some gems from 2023 and MONARCH is one of them.

Episode two Departure is still part of that stage of knowing why things are happening and it will be like that probably until episode four when things settle down and it covers for the most part the present time, but I think this season main focus is to explain how things started back on the 50’s with Kieko, Bill and Shaw, that is exactly what MONARCH is after now, the youngsters Cate, Kentaro and his ex-girlfriends May have discover some files from audio and video at his father office, Hiroshi is suppose to be missing or dead but it might not be the case and there is only one person alive that might help them figure out exactly what happen and that Shaw Lee.

Recently read about an interview that was done some time ago to Wyat Russell and how he didn’t want to work with his father until he makes it out by himself, they both are very similar and I guess many other productions have though about them to be included for the same purpose of going back and forward in time lines of the same character, it work out great for MONARCH.

It was the late 50’s in Japan, Dr. Keiko Miura was probably not taken serious by many for a couple of reasons, I guess men were very dominant on her field of work and second she was basically chasing a ghost so when Shaw Lee the III was assign to her as military escort he didn’t take her serious neither and paid a great price right from the start, not only he was cocky but he was kind of pissed been assign as an escort probably as punishment after getting into a bar fight, he even though she was trying to hook up with him when they met, he thought Dr. Miura had to be a men and he was so wrong, this got him more than once to be ashamed of his actions until he started to understand what was going on and why her work was so important despite been almost along on this journey.

Moving into the present we know Kentaro and Cate found some files at their father office in Japan but had no clue what they were about, Kentaro ex-girlfriend knew how to handle some of this old format of data storage and decided to dig into it but this alert MONARCH about it, this are probably OG Bill Randall and Keiko Miura files, how everything started, this documents are important and MONARCH want them back.

On a second trip to his father office Kentaro started to look at some files and found a video tape too, between the files came up Shaw Lee and a document that mentions how he has been admitted at a retiring community that latter on end up been a prison for MONARCH related people, they need to keep their secrets tight even though G-day already happen they don’t want the population know that there are more than just one massive monster going around, this would cause huge panic. Kentaro latter on said his mom told him about how to locate Shaw but it is not true, he got the place name from the documents at his father office.

The entire Kentaro / May relationship is kind of boring and annoying because it has not been properly explain, we know he dump her but why? besides she is hiding something and that could be the reason why he dump her but he was not brave enough to call her out? this is just me making conclusions.

Cate is traumatize by what she went through on G day at San Francisco, I mean who would not if you see face to face good old GOJI!!! she had front row seats at the San Francisco Bridge when Godzilla show up and start screaming its lungs away so now every time she starts feeling claustrophobic her first though is GOJI is coming, that’s what happen when Tim try to soft kidnap her after she denied to talk to him, Cate starts to scream and scramble inside the car and kick the Duval in the face who was driving and then crash badly, not sure how Duval and Tim got out of that crash like it was nothing.

That same night after the crash they raided May apartment and went looking for Kentaro, not only they were very close one place to the other but Duval and Tim look fresh, not like they have gotten out of a bad car crash something I find annoying after watching the episode again, making this post makes me realize things I didn’t on the first watch, that’s another reason I like this posts recaps. Again WTF is May hiding and why she look like running away from something, she catch Cate out of her apartment and brought her to a restaurant where she is hiding a bag with supplies, money and multiple passports like she is ready to disappear anytime if needed. I also like how Kentaro mom help him to escape, was very cool how she look all naive even asking Duval if she was single an available for Kentaro LOL, making time for Kentaro to run away.

Episode Two explain how the three person who started MONARCH met, Keiko, Bill and Shaw, latter on Bill and Keiko become a couple, not sure if they get married because how long did it pass after they met and episode one when Keiko die? weird, I like Randal always creative and running his mouth, but he did see things different than others and had a big imagination, and Shaw as sarcastic as usual.

This pattern right here will come up multiple times on the series, same as Skull Island was a mythical place surrounded by a storm it seems this side of the Philippines has host for very long time a monster that only natives talk about but why governments haven’t notice, it was late 50’s so I guess nobody give a shit about it, G-day only happen until 2014 so the public didn’t know about titans until then, everything else that happen was just stories and legends that no body believe, Bill describe this as a migration pattern.

It feels nice how the series presents a goal, that is looking for monsters and right there they find what they were looking for, the scenery on VR is awesome, the rusted big ship in the middle of a field, the dark scenes thanks to the vintage camera stile of Bill make it look cool since it was not your classic dark scene I can’t see shit and suddenly monsters pop up, you could see details of the ship from inside and what look like the crew who was some how turn into solid material cover by mucus?? or saliva?? This ship was the Lawton that sink close to Pearl Harbor on 1943 more than seven years ago and Bill was on that ship, he didn’t know it was going to be there but he hope for it, this time was also when Shaw started to believe on Bill and Keiko theory about this monsters when he was driving away after been dismissed by Keiko from his duty when he try to tell her what to do, Shaw saw on the sky exactly what Bill describe as “path of fire in the sky” or a path of radiation left behind, so he drives back as fast as he could and help them out of a hairy situation, present to you The Dragon, at the cover image.

This episode was great, just the second episode and we already have another monster that has been reveal, I doubt it will be the same on every episode but this ramps up the hype when finally glorious GOJIRA shows up to wreck one of them, may be not may be on season one it doesn’t fight anyone and they show Keiko study its behavior, on previous movies Godzilla has been describe as the Titan that brings balance to the system thats why Dr. Ishiro on Godzilla 2014 ask the admiral to let them fight and figure it out, something that for MONARC was a bit dumb. The Russell duo works great for MONARCH and now we are going to watch Shaw Lee in the present reveal some of this secrets Keiko and Bill kept with them so it makes easier for the story to unfold and faster, Kentaro and Cate doesn’t have to look for their father along wondering but now they have Shaw help so I think the balance between characters story and monsters showing up is working out great, from the start the main thing I kept reading was people saying it was going to suck if Godzilla didn’t show up or fight but with all this monsters been reveal I think is crafting more the tittle of the series “Legacy of Monsters” in plural and not just Godzilla.

The Fall of the House of Usher: A Midnight Dreary – Episode 01 – RECAP

On my short time on Hive I have written about a couple of different series always trying to narrate what went down on certain episode but there are a few of them or actually different format content that is kinda hard for me to build up on my post like Basketball, Futbol, Comedy and now a narrated story on third person that is Fall of the House of Usher, the main reason because it takes time, when the story is narrated details are everywhere that create an image on your brain of how people react in at the scene, for example there is one part when Roderick said “Yes Im putting a bounty on your head” I can easy see his daughters with an amaze expression like WTF while his son Perry laugh at the rest, then that makes me react in the same way when writing my post, try to bring as much details possible with how I put up all this images trying to make sense at the same time giving my opinion on text, basically is a combination of text and images trying to tell a story.

The Fall of The House of Usher to me seem like a very cool “horror” story, not necessary horror like possession and demons but there will be a lot of killing, probably blood on a lot of scenes, there is revenge, a combination of all kind of evil and bad feelings everything happening within a family that is mainly hold together by a bank account, Roderick mention this when talking to his wife “….the only thing that they fear the worst is been out of his will” referring to his sons and daughters who are always close to him, including their loves one, if you look from the outside anyone would think they are such a perfect family always together but the truth is that the core was only him and his sister Madeline, I get to this conclusion based on episode one only, probably with the progress of the series my opinion changes, after all money is the only thing that can buy souls.

Episode one was very entertaining and at times it will spook you, keep you on the edge of your seat for a few minutes, does a good job at presenting the main topic of the series, it works with time lines going back and forward, already telling you whats coming up that is the death of all his sons and daughters, who have to do with their death and that even after many years his “dead” mother is still lurking around, I would agree with IMDB rating and give it a 7.5/10

Episode one starts with Roderick and his granddaughter next to him, at church; three of his child have died, they are now six of them dead, church is empty, I would assume because he wanted like that, his family is so prestigious if people are let in it would be a total shit show taking pictures, asking questions, people protesting, the Usher family was at a stupid level rich so there will always be those who hate them just for having that amount of money without much reason.

Roderick keeps having this hallucinations of a women with a mask and his dead child, they all had dramatic deaths, he even see them at the church all butcher up from the different ways they die but only him can see them.

Roderick is on the pharmaceutic business, he is at the rock star level, press is always after him and probably why the church was empty but there is one man who only wants one picture and that’s Roderick behind bars, Carl Lumbly does Attorney Dupin who has been after Roderick and his entire family for a very long time without luck, they are all always shield, bulletproof from everything in life, that’s how much money they have that no body mess with them besides Roderick seems to be the type of guy who knows how to use and control power and nut just money.

The creepy story begins when Roderick invites Auguste, Augi; to his first house where he use to live with his mother and sister, when Roderick got enough money he not only bought the house but the entire neighborhood and kept it the same, let it rood because he did went through hell and back on that place many times because of many reasons so the place work as a reminder that if he went through that he can overcome anything, that is my opinion after Roderick tell Auguste why he kept the place.

Roderick is ready to give up, accept all charges and go to jail but it seems he wants either Auguste to help him solve a mystery or help him escape a problem, creepy his dead mother shows up behind Roderick, can’t see it on the screenshot but she is there, this is when the horror side of the story kicks in.

We start with Roderick hell as a kid, live with his mother, Eliza; who didn’t believe in doctors or medicine, at a point she got very sick, all her life work for a prick William Longfellow, CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, she devoted her life to that job but the moment that needed help and he was their only option William treat them like shit, I guess Eliza had a grudge against William probably for all those years, she always told her kids to stay away from him at all cost, she must had some strong reason.

Elize dies for unknown reason, seem stupid but I guess its part of the story to make the audience feel sorry for Roderick and his sister Madeline, they had to build casket out of old wood and bury his mother in the backyard like a dog, big WTF; they had no family? no money? it was the 50’s but come on, still I get the writer, they trying to build that feeling of sorrow for the kids.

Remember how I mention Auguste was behind Roderick, his business and family, well during a trial he mention, no body confirm if this was true or not; that after many years of been behind his case he finally got a member of the family to confess and will serve as witness against the Usher family, this fire up Roderick against his children badly.

One episode one they dont go into deep details of what each of his children does, few details but not their entire life

They had different personalities, some care vary much about the family money, few don’t, Frederick been the oldest male born waiting for his father to die to keep everything, Perry seem to want a life style of fame to the extreme, still there was three things that unite them, their father who rule the family with iron fist, aunt Madeline who is just as ruthless or worst than Roderick when it comes down to business and money.

For now as I mention not many details about his child but after the trial Roderick calls for a family meeting, he got all of his family members to sign an very nasty NDA that will keep the out of the family for good if they were proof to be the mole within the family, he was straight and didn’t loose any time to put a bounty on their head, $50 million all cash, no taxes, no bullshit for the one who brings the mole, they already know its one of them its a matter of time and greed to find out who is it.

While the episode keeps very clear the money situation at the family and that all six children will have a nasty death it still a mystery of how this all happen, the women with the creepy smile, Verna; a women who they Roderick and Madeline met on 1979 new years eve at a local bar, she use phrases like “To 1979. May it rest in peace” or “the future is coming” like she knew something was about to happen while she kept them both at the bar where they were suppose to stay just for a short time, she seem to be the one appearing to Roderick at church, there is also a Joker who shows up inside his car when he was leaving church and then falls backwards, bleeding from his knows telling Madeline its time, but time for what? is Verna really who kill his child? is his mother dead but still wondering around their old house?

Movies has turn smiles into something creepy and evil, with proper makeup their eyes pop and creates this image of people been posses by something looking very evil, like a new thing from horror movies, I feel like that is a key element to this series, we will see Verna smiling a lot, episode one does a great job of giving you just enough information about how the family members die and probably who did it without too much so you can figure out everything from the start, gives the beginning and the end but not the details and that’s what the others episodes will be base on, stretching the story enough, clever way to create a tv series narrated by the main character Roderick, this is an eight episode mini series there has been some time since I saw a horror base tv series so I’m really going to enjoy it although covering all the details on a post can be a little tedious because it makes a long post, longer than usual.

For All Mankind: Have a Nice Sol – Season 04 – Episode 02 – RECAP

Season four rotates around the asteroid they failed to drag to Mars on the first episode but there is more to the asteroid, this is probably the story that will make season four more interesting rather than been just about a space tv series and its how hard life is on Mars specially now that they are starting to build and maintain an infrastructure.

Since the trailer I had that feeling that Miles was probably going to be the star of the show and also a pain in the ass for some at Happy Valey, you obviously got all the space colony story as the main pipe and then branches that develop around it like Miles, Kelly, Aleida, Margo, this other side stories are starting to take shape with Kelly and Aleida potentially teaming, for Aleida looking for a purpose to keep pushing her career as an engineer since she cant stand been at NASA anymore after the bombing and Kelly project open the door for a new opportunity and Margo almost a prisoner at Russia has a lot more to develop and it would not be strange if we see her take more participation at the Russia Space Program under extreme circumstances she gets that call to go work with them meaning she will work with NASA at some point, second attempt to drag the meteoroid to Mars will take a few episodes and its going to be an intense one, they will need their most experience people working on that plus I remember on the trailer Aleida told Dev they just found the biggest asteroid ever so I wonder when will she start to work with Dev??

Episode four is not about Edwin or Danielle, actually there is very little they do during this episode. I have to mention at times I really don’t like their make up, that age makeup is bad, its not convincing at all plus their cringe looks and smiles I just hate it but for some people might be iconic and just stick, just my opinion on that. Danielle does go to Mars to get things together and in fact Eli was not wrong, Edwin has been doing a shitty job at Happy Valley, he might bee a talented pilot but when it comes to manage a crew in this case as big as Happy Valley is, he is doing things so wrong, make those who work and maintain the base so shitty with things like food, facilities, even internet bandwidth.

Season Four Mr. Miles Dale hits the wall the moment he gets his first instructions, he was hired to be a fuel tech, working on the surface, but now with the asteroid project on hold they don’t have a place for most of the workers that were suppose to be on that project, this doesn’t necessarily puts him out of job but eventually becomes a problem latter on.

Miles instantly finds out life at Happy Valley is very shitty, things not working for weeks and management doesn’t do shit about it when he and others do have to maintain and repair things for others around the base, he can’t get any emails or videos from his wife and girls since bandwidth is capped with them on the short side of the rope, food is expensive and shitty and since he is not working the position he was hired for he has been relocated leaving him at a job position that is less profitable, he is now making less money than he was doing on Earth, Miles does have a record of not generating enough income to sustain his family and the reason for his marriage to be next to the end, going to Mars was a last resource to get things back together but this situation gets him to the edge of the cliff.

At least Miles makes a few new friends that are in the same situation financially but have enough time at Happy Valley that they have learn how to survive and make the entire situation work for them, Samantha on the left who was friends with Tom who died on the first episode, she is on a more similar situation to Miles since her husband divorce her when she went to Mars, lost a friend at the base already and is financially struggling so its like she has no other place to go, with nothing left at Earth she could easy stay at Mars for ever if you think about it, after all that’s the idea to start a colony at a new planet so for some of the them going back to Earth makes no sense.

Miles roommates show him how to forget his troubles at Mars, Ilya runs an undercover bar where he makes Vodka and runs his smuggling operation, selling better quality items than what the base sell to the workers, one of the reasons Miles is making less money is because he has to pay for everything at the base too, including uniform and other items provided by the base, some of them very basics in terms of quality so Ilya has find a way to bring better quality items form Earth and sell them to the rest of the workers running a highly profitable operation.

Besides the Miles story the only other thing that I found interesting is how Kelly has work for months developing a robot to find micro bacteria in Mars, this would help them find places where life was or is and there they can start research how to make Mars a more pleasant and sustainable planet rather than living inside a can with the rest of the planet outside, at the moment they only have two things in favor and that’s gravity and land but Mars lacks all the other qualities of Earth like breathable air, water, plants, that’s why Kelly research is so important but its put on hold because all resources are into the asteroid project.

Not a AAA episode but was still good, I give it a 7/10, the Miles story is not hard to figure out how it will develop, its a funny template that I have seen many other times on other TV series and movies, he is not a trouble maker although is a rebel a free soul, he can be instruct what to do but when things do go on his favor he will fight back and find a way to make things work out for him and that is exactly what is going to happen, on episode two after he face the problem that he cant communicate with his family and is been under pay of what he was promise intermediately raise his concern with superiors who didn’t listen to him, its just a matter of time before he starts to look a way out of this situation, lucky him the satellite that handles the comms got fix by Danielle orders because Edwin would never fix it, he had other priorities and since only workers were affected and not higher management talking pilots, engineers, cosmonauts, he was OK with it but Danielle did notice this could affect the base emotionally, Danielle is a better leader than Edwin, he is just a great pilot but has no idea how to manage a crew and not in the long run like he has been doing staying at Mars for two years.

Episode two was not necessary slow but we didn’t get any of the space action, I don’t think there will be any with the asteroid project still on hold, probably just simulations or testing on how to get that project done and for the next two episodes we will see side stories like the ones I mention develop more, Kelly and Aleida finish the episode with the intention to look for private funding for Kelly project and Margo seem to be arrested at Russia but not much details about it on this episode, still very entertaining, when you watch a TV series this good, slow episodes are just fine and are usually a solid 7, still good enough.

The Walking Dead – Dead City: Doma Smo – Season 1 – Episode 6 – RECAP

“We are at Home” Doma Smo, as the tittle of episode six says we are at home makes me think if now Negan is at home?? I have now finish season one of Dead City, probably the first spin off of the original The Walking Dead series that really has nothing to do with zombies, at the same time I was watching Daryl Dixon that is a bit different in that sense because over there it has to do a lot with Zombies but not in the traditional way where they are after you only. Season One of Dead City still feels a bit slow and to be honest episode six does feel like a to be continue episode, lot of things are left hanging and we will have to wait for season two, Hollywood Strike is over meaning that productions will start to catch up so probably we will have season two next year.

Episode six finally reveal the true reason why Maggie went looking for Negan, on episode five Giny call Maggie a liar after she find out there was no missing grain at the Hill Top before he escape to Manhattan looking for Negan, episode six also confirm that anyone who thought that The Croat or Maggie wanted to kill Negan it was never the case, the man was more safe than a deposit box, at Manhattan they wanted Negan to lead them, a higher power was behind the curtain waiting, wanting him to be the new king of the hill for the war that is ahead them.

After Giny and Maggie got out of the tunnels for some mystic reason they met with Negan, that’s how TV works so don’t ask me because Negan and Perlie were on their way to the dock, Manhattan is so fucking huge and they just some how manage to met again after all the debacle that is going on, I really thought Giny was going to talk this time like finally she is going to spill the beans but it was Negan that kept talking about how she should not be there etc etc and I was like LET THE GIRL TALK!! but she didn’t and Maggie had the chance to dodge a bullet on the spot after Negan ask him if she knew anything about Giny been there to what she answer mmmeee?? NNNOOO!! asking like she doesn’t know Giny can set her liar ass on fire anytime she wants, meh Negan goes with Maggie after he gave a pep talk to Giny and Marshall Perlie takes Giny back to firm land, back to the Hill Top, at this point Giny becomes irrelevant for the rest of the episode.

Negan and Maggie take refugee inside a tall building, looking out side the window waiting for someone to show up on the streets, The Croat? , well I’m not sure about that because if I was looking for someone I would probably be on the roof top where I have more sight, anyways TV magic again and a car shows up on the main street.

You tell me how they know its The Croat? they decided to go after the car, unless they car parks on the main street, that it didn’t it would be easy to find it ON FOOT!!! this are the things that I dont like about episode six, all this details feel rush, may be when you are watching the episode you dont pay much attention but its the adrenaline and dopamine running through your brain that makes you forget about it, how the fuck they go down twenty story building and still have energy to run after the car??

See,it was not on the main road but lets say that big smoke cloud helps them to locate it, after all Zombies don’t know how to start a fire so there must be humans inside, as they walk into the building, good old silver fox Negan question Maggie about why Giny would come to Manhattan and if she knew anything about it, like he just wanted to understand Giny, you know been a good guy, probably even good step father. It is here where Maggie drops the ball telling Negan she assume Giny wanted to talk to him explain him why she came to Manhattan and Negan was like “Giny talk to me? Did she talk to you? When did Giny start fucking talking?” Giny doesnt even talk with herself, barely whistle.

Maggie pulls one of her knifes after she look at Negan and probably though “Fuck I just fuck it up…Giny talking, that was so stupid of me”, tries to stab Negan but he manage to run away until they get to this scene where they are fighting on top of a structure with a lot of Zombies below them, I knew none of them were going to fall so it was a bit over the top and predictable, you tell me if Negan doesn’t want to change his life and make up for his mistakes in the past that he doesn’t kill Maggie and even let her turn him in.

At this point he finally understood why The Croat took Hershel and why Maggie went looking for Negan, it look weird that when The Croat was chasing him at the stadium it was like he was trying to be friends with him to the point he thought about it latter on but still Negan wanted to do the right thing and help Maggie get back her son from The Croat. The Croat tells Negan how he has been looking for him for months, he want him alive, how after thinking how to get him finally find out about Maggie and knew she was going to be the key to get Negan, Doma Smon saying like we are home Negan, its here where we belong.

They get to a bank where the exchange is going to happen, they had Hershel inside the bank safe, at this point Negan still doubt if he is going to be ok but in that universe they are its most likely he might die, Negan gives in without putting any fight and the only thing he ask from Maggie is to take care of Giny, Maggie felt shitty but probably her thirst of revenge against him was bigger, Maggie gets Hershel but her son is still kidnap even when its free in the out world, mentally Hershel is broken, they already had all kind of problems him knowing about what happen to his father and thinking Maggie tries to safe the world for everyone except him.

After Marshall Perlie drops off Giny at the Hill Top where for now she agree to stay, Perlie goes back to New Babylon where is gets interview by their leader, he let Negan live after they bond, remember Negan safe his ass at the island more than once so he was in debt with him.

Perlie sits there at the office with a few other Marshall, he is welcome as a hero, lie his ass telling them how he killed Negan, I really thought they were going to hang him, Perlie been at Manhattan was actually a happy accident for New Babaylon, seems they are interested in The Croat Methane Mix, he have found a we to turn Zombies into fuel, meaning they can have tech running again, not only cars but generators and other type of machinery with the most abundant resource on Earth at the moment, Zombies.

Back at Manhattan, we get to the final straight of the episode, pedal to the metal, The Croat takes Negan back to their hide out, the building that had the big smoke cloud at the back, its a theater, at the dressing room was the lady he talk to on episode five, The Dama, wtf is with this people and their nicknames starting with “THE”, drop the THE (Facebook), its on this final scene that we get all the details of The Croat plan well The Dama plan because he is just a the tool to get their fuel and now get to Negan, the leader she was looking for, seems Manhattan is split between many groups but united can become a strong force not to fuck with and that’s what she wants, for some time now she hold control over a good part of Manhattan but there is also Harlem, even during the Zombie Apocalypse Harlem remains strong, she believes main land already know of their Zombie based fuel and they coming for it, she also tells Negan how all this can be his she just need him to lead the pack and not to leave him with unanswered questions she explain how she cleverly got him sitting where he is at right now, getting Hershel was not enough so she personally question him and crack him up to the point his soul is now hers, she even took a souvenir, pinky toe, so he never forgets she can go back and take another one, Hershell tells her about how Negan killed his father, besides they have been tracking him, getting intel on him and she figure out Negan must be trying to change his life, make up for his mistakes thats how she knew he would not say NO to help Maggie when she ask for.

Episode six I think gives a good closure but at the same time it doesn’t, it finally tell us exactly why The Croat took Hershel, why Maggie went looking for Nega because episode five tells us it was The Croat that ask her to look for him and bring Negan to him but not the reason why, The Dama came up to the stage and in less than ten minutes gives in all the details that help us crack the code of season one, Negan is the lone wolf they have been looking to lead and unite Manhattan Pack, The Dama loves Negan talent to put up a show and showing the rest who has big balls even when out number and out gun, exactly the type of leader she is looking for to control the entire island, for now looks like her intentions is not to conquer the world but to protect what they have and New Babylon the invaders but that still to be prove on season two.

There were a lot of details that I didn’t like about the series like how they move from one place to another, how they always manage to find each other like they wearing an Apple Tag or something but still when watching TV series you need to understand all this is fiction, meaning all this is a lie and bull shit like that goes on.

For season two I don’t think Maggie, Hershel of the Hill Top is out of the equation, as a fact because of Hershel and Maggie their entire community will be at risk, Marshal Perlie is been interview and caught bullshitting so what if he tells about the Hill Top?? New Babylon would love to take over it, with all the problems going on between Maggie and Hershel, he might run back to The Dama, when the episode is about to be over Maggie found Hershel’s drawings most refer to when he was kidnap and there was a portrait from The Dama so stupid Hershel can run back to her if he feels his mother is not on his side or he doesn’t feel safe or had any other trauma that makes him feel safer over at Manhattan, I see season two been the invasion of Manhattan, not a bad tittle.

Tv Series I’ll be watching on November

As I’m trying to write other content than recaps of TV Series episodes here some info about the TV Series I’m looking for on November, some of them just started and others about to, there are a few in particular that I’m excited about like MONARCH that I recently made a post about the trailer and the first movie related to the TV Series, Kong: Skull Island (2017); same goes for For All Man Kind, I remember this was the series that got me to love most of the content that Apple TV+ puts out, I dare to say that over 80% of their content is good, For All Man Kind ends on Season 4 since some of the characters are presented as very old and some others are not even in NASA anymore or any other space program, the show adds new characters too on Season 4. From this six series that I mention there is one a Mini Series I’m a bit skeptical and that’s the Anderson Silva mini series, I think it’s going to be a kind of documentary style and not exactly as a drama/fight TV series, its going to be on Paramount so I don’t expect it to be trash, and last but still excited about it since I’m just a casual and very commercial Anime viewer I got on my radar Onimusha, an adaptation of the game, from what I have read online this is a classic with a big fan base behind that probably going to think the series is trash as most of 90% game adaptations out there, not necessarily that they are trash but most doesn’t stick to the story at 100%.

Today I give out my personal ignorant opinion as a regular viewer, I’m not or pretend to be an expert or critic, I’m just giving out my opinion of what I see without judging who made it or what is is based on, for me TV and Movies are just media for entertainment and not educational.

From what I have seen online without spoiling anything from the show I have to say if you play the game the story is inconsistent compare to the original, for me this is something it doesnt bother anymore and the reason for this is because anything that shows up on TV is mainly to MAKE MONEY, it doesn’t matter if its a Movie, Tv Series, unless it is presented as a Documentary do not expect things to match exactly to every single scene, this is something I have been thinking about writing a post because it happens so often and to be honest I think there is market for this for example people that have never play the game but the story is so good it can be “adapted” usually this means improve or manipulate to appeal for this market who would eventually buy the game who knows.

Im a sucker for anything Capcom most things they touch become gold, on top of that Onimusha as the game is based on a swordsman who always look tired like he is about to retire, he is giving an ancient gaunlet that he use to lock down the souls of demons he start to put away but with every soul he locks down the darkness starts to take over him, the fight scenes remind me a lot of Rourouni Kenshin that recently got a new version, cant wait to watch it on VR (SBS).

“You are a law men or outlaw” bit of both… it was about time David Oyelowo get his own TV Series, this guy was great on Silo, Interstellar, Jack Reacher, not the first time he turns out to be the one in charge of the law, I like a good Gun Man story during the times of the Wild West in this case Bass Reeves was on the side of the law, last similar TV series I saw was Billy The Kid that is actually on its second season, I missed this blog post for October thats why I havent mention it, another TV Series based this time on a true story since Bass Reeves was one of the first Black deputy US Marshal in American history, this based on what I have found online, he was most likely trying to do his best job during times he had everything against him including the system itself but he was one of the best man hunters (fugitives/outlaws) for three decades, one of the most deadly men in the frontier.

If you havent seen the first three series I suggest you fucking do, this is one of my favorites series hands down, every single series is great, the story, the action, there is shooting in the MOON, astronauts stay months inside a tiny room at the moon and all because they are pushing to be the first to get to the Moon, then to Mars and now they are building the first sustainable colony at Mars, bringing people from Earth who had regular jobs to help build the infrastructure on Mars but now they found a gigantic metorite with an insane amount of metal, more than it has been mine in the entire history of mankind, now they fighting for it, China, Russia, NASA, they are all going for it, all this happen in a paralell world as none of the story is based on real events, its the vision of what would have happen of probably NASA had done everything what Space X is doing now but years ago, not going to get into that topic but this is a great Space TV Series.

A Murder at the End of the World

This is a drama that I dont really know what to expect out of it but what got me is that it happens literally at the end of the world in the middle of nothing just mountains and ice all over the place, this series reminds me a lot to The Menu and Andy the character by Clive Owen gives me the same impression as Ralph Fiennes the Chef on The Menu movie. From what I can tell from the trailer there is this place looks like a hotel for a retire, probably no internet, no cell phone just to rest and disconnect from the world but its a setup and Darby the main character of the series a women probably on her 25 – 30 is in the middle and tries to survive, this is a mini series with seven chapters and start with the first two on November 14, nothing really special about it but the production seems good based on the trailer, has a good cast too with Alice Braga, Clive Owen, Edoardo Ballerini, few familiar faces.

In Brazil MMA is a HUGE deal, on his prime Anderson Silva was a fucking beast, I remember some of his fights against Forrest Griffin, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson, he was so smooth and like to trash talk but at some point in time he had defend so many times his UFC World Tittle that it was like watching Max Verstappen win a race, you knew he was going to win. From what I can tell this is a mini series about how he became that great fighter, his struggles in Brazil growing up probably been bully by other guys until one day he discover that love for fighting, Anderon Silva was insane on the floor, trying to take him down was suicide mission because he would make sure you tap out, on the series it goes from when he was a kid to when he became the big star he is, sometimes he was a bit wild on his personal life but at one point in time he was at the top of the world so who could blame him, I love Anderson Silva, one of my favorite MMA fighters, this is going to be a great watch but don’t expect any Van Damme shit fighting making unreal moves.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

MONARCH is a no brainier for me, on top of that very recent there was a Godzilla movie, Godzilla Minus One at Japan, turn out to be a success based on critics opinion I’m jet to see it, I’m not a movie guy but the end of the year is closing strong even after the Hollywood Strike. The Monsterverse has never make it to TV and that is what this TV Series is about, collecting all that data spread across four movies and then develop the MONARCH story more than it already is, this is no mini series so we are going to get plenty of episodes, season one kicks in with ten episodes, from the start based on the first scene that was released past week we get a fight between a giant crap and a spider what we probably wont get is fights between the main monsters like Godzilla but that’s OK, with ten episodes I think its enough to develop the MONARCH story and have other monsters show up to destroy cities or after Godzilla, very excited about this one too.

I’m going to try to post the next day on some this series, MONARCH and For All Mankind are my two favorites out of this list but knowing me this will take some effort since some times I get busy at work or at home, when that happens I tend to not have enough patience to sit down and write content, I have been thinking on quitting my 8-5 one day but not now since I still need that income for certain plans, may be next year around this time I will reconsider since I really like writing content and if I could have the time to create videos that would be great too, I see some guys in Hive that post twice a day and on top comment others people post and are very active in Threads, all I can think is how the fuck they have the time but most likely they don’t have an 8-5, I’m not miserable but also not enjoy having the 8-5 I have at the moment, I though this post was going to be short but me talking about my job doesn’t help that much so I hope one day I might have the option to not have an 8-5 and still move on with projects without having to worry about my finances.

Compare to other Marvel TV Series Secret Invasion in my opinion is not bad as people might think but for sure not its best work, there is not much action until now, its more about an espionage TV Series and probably the way it should be because besides Skrulls on this story there are no super heroes with powers or a suit and I think that’s the way it was intended just humans against the infiltrated Skrulls from Gravik.

Episode three is just that, start to unveil the traitors on both sides from the Gravik camp and the more divided humans group leading Nick Fury but just way too divided between MI6, US Government, after all Skrulls is probably the main reason humans are so divided, its the result of many years work dividing to conquer that was exactly what Gravik was looking for and he is now Skrull General after getting the full support from the Skrulls counsel after showing he does have what it got to make Earth the home they were looking for and convincing them that it wont be achieve by been friends with humans but by making them go against each other at war while Skrulls just watch humans become extinct, it will be very hard for Nick Fury to stop this plan but he has Talos on his side and I think this war wont be won by force but by out smart the enemy.

Back when Gravik was chosen as Skrull General there was a few of them that were not too sure of his methods, Skrulls are a pacific species and those who had to fled their home know how bad war could turn out for them, if they loose to humans it could be game over, at the end I think that’s going to be the card that make Nick win this war against Gravik, show other Skrulls how wrong is Gravik at fighting humans instead of living together in peace with the option to stay on Earth or find another planet to claim.

Initially Gravik plan was to infiltrate humans thing that he did perfectly at taking hostage the Captain in charge of a submarine with missiles probably powerful enough to do a lot of damage or at least enough as Nick said to start World War III, with the help of Talos he was able to stop the launch, Talos is a bit against killing people specially Skrulls but this time he was the one pulling the trigger when the Skrull rebel mention his daughter what brings to mind if he knows/suspects G’iah is providing information to Talos then Gravik must too.

Sonya is helping Nick too, they might not be from the same agency or country but its on their best interest win this war against Skrulls, she is aware of whats going on even a few steps against Nick with the intel that she has but is aware that at times they might need to exchange intel to move forward not like Rhodey who thinks Nick needs to stay out of all this situation.

Talos is just too good of a guy but his feelings were hurt on episode two after he had to revile Nick there were a million Skrulls on Earth, he never lied about it to never told Nick, what he did make clear is that Nick would not be promoted or successful as he was at S.H.I.E.L.D if he didn’t have Talos and his network of Skrull spies working with him probably the reason why he was always always miles away up front, I can only imagine how Fury had the agency itself infiltrated because the feeling has always been that Fury is a fucking ghost, a ninja that no body else knows how he is many steps ahead before things happen and now Talos reminds him of this but most important Talos shows Fury he is his true friend, despite him been a Skrull or Human he is his friend before any difference but he wanted to feel special too or at least equal and made Fury beg him for help just a bit to make it fun.

Talos had this meeting with Gravik where they were playing a lot of mind games, I think Gravik has some respect for Talos as he was probably the original Skrull General at Earth when they arrive also Talos was there when Fury brought in Gravik to work for him but from this meeting things definitely going to change, Gravik show Talos how many Skrulls are with him when every single one on that room shape shift into Gravik, this is a way to show Talos who rules now and his last sign of respect to him, Talos was lucky Gravik didn’t kill him on the spot.

Skrulls can regenerate but I think its not instant although before Talos goes he stab Gravik on his hand and left but after Gravik pull his hand from the knife instead of taking it off, spliting his hand in too and then instantly regenerate with his hand glowing like generating energy or fire, sign that he already mutate results of their experiments for Super Skrulls with the machine that appears on this post cover.

Gravik has convince a big part of the Skrulls community on Earth including having the Skrull Counsel on his side either by force or not so this probably puts him in the same position as when Fury had his private Skrull Spies Network, so for sure no body is ahead of him, probably he might not be as sharp as Fury because he is young and lack the same experience, eventually his finds out Ghia was working with her father Talos, after some of the Skrulls got caught in Russia he know someone was feeding information and it was just a matter to use the right bait to get the traitor, the plan to launch the missiles on the submarine was that, the bait to lure out the traitor, he probably did trust Ghia at first but for sure always had that suspicion that she might betray him. When Ghia tries to leave camp he was there waiting for her, he was probably had people monitoring her all day, Gravik shoot Ghia and she falls to the ground, I don’t think she is dead but she makes that sound when they shape shift after falling meaning at least she is knock out.

Last but I think most important I think, its that Fury wife who is a Skrull, who told to his face that she has nothing to do with Gravik is now looking for him and potentially have to do with Gravik plans. She was the one who brought Gravik to Fury back in the day so she probably have some attachment to him since she took him over, probably consider him a son and consider she is a Skrull after all, even though she got involve with Fury they are not the same species, blood calls blood.

I feel like Secret Invasion is going to ramp up a lot after episode three, Gravik powers and machine has been openly shown and the entire Super Skrulls concept will bring that super power side characteristic of Marvel content but so far I think the lack of action and fantasy that super heroes bring in is what people were expecting this was going to be about, I remember making an article when the trailer came out and so far I dont see it as false advertisement or like it oversold what this series was going to be, probably viewers felt this had to be a longer series and not just a mini series so there was more time to develop the story but all this was about is Fury spies network and how it started, even Gravik I think is a plus because he is also the result of what Fury did before the blip.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Paris Sera Toujours Paris – Episode 3 – Season 1 – RECAP

I don’t know what is it with this series but we are already in episode three of a six episode season and it feels like for ever, I know I’m only watching one episode per week and probably this short seasons are intended to watch in one or two days, still would not make sense but I can’t think of why it feels so slow, nothing of real context rather than Laurent life is happening, yes everything goes around him on this season but there is not much fighting, shooting, kidnap, bullying, survive, that’s what traditional Walking Dead is, bring out that survivor side of the characters, actually episode one was way better than two and three.

There are a couple of things that need to be clarify for example whats going Genet army, what kind of experiments are they really doing not only on the ship that Daryl escape from but now on this episode we also have the opportunity to look at a facility where they running experiments on Zombies, Walkers, from what I saw its a kind of super strength or rage I say this because there was a Zombie on chains go wild and break loose but then his head explode.

On this episode I think we only get more context of Isabelle and Laurent, where they come from not the country but what was their life before the Zombie outbreak, we already know Laurent is Isabelle nephew but what about Isabelle? first part of episode two was mostly about her and now episode three does a similar thing towards the middle, uncovering part of her past with Quinn her ex boyfriend who survive after she ran away with her sister on Quinn car leaving him behind but let me tell you Quinn is full of surprises.

Daryl has kept his part of the deal, he got Isabelle and Laurent to Paris but it looks like everything is dead, streets are empty, Zombies everywhere like people has loose hope, all you can hear is the Eiffel Tower moving with the wind, that must be impressive all that silence and suddenly listing to that giant rusty metal structure swinging, their home town, initially they were looking for a man who live on a theater, a musician, they have talk over the radio before but it seems he has been alone for too long to the point he has gone mad, crazy, nuts, some how he have tied a bunch of Zombies to instruments and now they play for him as an orchestra, it was very impressive to see all the Walkers “”playing”” the instruments, so there is no radio, no hope of communicating with others, Isabelle is disappointed but Daryl is pissed, he is not a God’s man and hates loosing time specially when he knew it was a waist of time.

After the disappointing encounter with the mad musician at the theater they start exploring, have no clue where to go but destiny finds them, Fallou a men who knew father Pere Jean cross their way. Fallou runs a small community of survivors, they are pacific, strong and have build a sustainable environment where everyone has a role to play to keep it going, there are workers, teachers, cooks, everything is going smooth, Fallou knows about Laurent, well what father Pere Jean convince them, the prophecy that Laurent will safe the world from this apocalypse but so far he is just a kid that has been lied all this time along and things are going to get bad once he start to learn his true story, on episode two he abandon the idea of going to Paris and wanted to stay with the other kids at the school they found on their way so its just a matter of time before he knows his true story and turn against Isabelle for keeping him in the dark and lying to him all this time.

This was funny scene, after they failed at locating a radio now at Fallou’s camp they don’t use radio they use pigeons to communicate so Daryl goes mad again, not only he is among a group of religious people who has silly believes in his opinion but now they want him to stay sitting for days or weeks waiting for a pigeon with a message, that’s IF big IF the pigeon returns.

In some part of Paris, Codron has finally met Genet, he brings her proof that he knows who Daryl Dixon is, the American who escape from the ship and did some damage to it that cost her time and money to rebuild so she still have on her plans locating Daryl, all Codron wants is to capture him and if possible kill him in revenge of his brother, they go about why she have to trust him to which he doesn’t much context other than he wants revenge and he has seen Daryl before because that’s the truth, he knows nothing about Daryl, this are some of the things that make me feel this episode was vague as fuck and slow too, they spend about five minutes at her office while she tries to light up a smoke and Codron not really proving why he is the man for the task, anyways she put him in charge of finding Daryl.

After Daryl got pissed about them waiting for a pigeon to carry their message, Fallou offer them the option to look for some one who can help Daryl get into a boat to America, that is a truly fucking task locating a boat to get him from one continent to another, after all he probably got lucky and there is no way he can go back.

They are in Paris, Isabelle home tome and she left a stash at her apartment, money, drugs, jewelry, things they can use to trade, Daryl already kept his part of the deal to bring Laurent safe to Paris, now Isabelle feels she is on Daryls debt list so she is willing to do as much as it takes to keep her part of the deal. Some times Daryl is a fucking bastard, Isabelle was telling him about Quinn but that is part of her stupid past, they he makes fun of her how she upgrade Quinn with God, like that is as stupid as been with Quinn.

Zombies got into the building and got them surrounded at her apartment, while trying to escape Isabelle froze after she saw a little girl who use to life into the same building a as her turn into a Zombie the weird part is that she was not as deteriorated as the other Zombie what makes me think she was probably killed or die of some natural cause, remember in Walking Dead eventually everyone turns into a Zombie after dying unless you stick something through their head right away. The exit was blocked by thick branches that Daryl could not cut and he notice this Zombies were burners too, their touch and insides burn anything, same as they Zombies that he saw on episode one at the warehouse so he use one of the to burn down the branches with their acid insides.

Daryl, Isabelle, Fallou, Laurent and Silvie got to a club, its the end of the world but seems people in Paris will keep on partying, question is where do they get the drinks, how they get currency, why do they get paid, there has to be some sort of economy to keep the place going, the man in charge was Quinn, Isabelle’s ex boyfriend who safe them from getting robbed from local smart ass you were trying to out play Isabelle and Daryl to keep their drugs as they were trying to make a deal for boat.

I really thought Quinn was going to be pissed and lock them down, after all he runs the place, got a crew and out power them but he wanted to play the big boy card, the play boy card, he owns the place, has money, power so Quinn takes Isabelle and Daryl to his office where he has everything from paints, antiques, champagne, offers them a drink but they just want to make a deal and get out.

Doubt if its true or not but after Isabelle tells him she is nun now and refuse to stay with him he reveal to her that Laurent is most likely his son, that her sister Lily was carrying his son so he was fucking her at the same time he was dating Isabelle, he wants Laurent to know the truth in exchange of getting a boat for Daryl but Daryl refuse and leaves then Isabelle gets pissed at Daryl, I didn’t get that right was it either Quinn just wanted Laurent to know he is his father or is it also that he wants Quinn to stay?? I think was just Laurent know the truth.

Cordon is after Daryl, some how he knows he was at Quinn place, back at Fallou’s camp Quinn and Isabelle kept talking about Laurent and her destiny, but Daryl is still pissed at how she lies to the kid, his father now, his entire life, Daryl had enough with his failed attempts to get a boat helped by Isabelle, Laurent heard them and tries to run away after telling them he hates them.

Cordon got to the camp and starts chasing Daryl, before he left the camp Daryl tells Isabelle to meet her at the apartment, some lame chasing starts, then Cordon and Daryl got into a fight but nothing impressive, it was a very dark scene with both dress in black, the music was lame too, very bad ending for the episode in my opinion.

This episode was not bad but at best I give it a 7/10 and that’s been generous, its on the verge of a six, there were a few interesting scenes like the musician with the Zombie band playing, Quinn’s underground bar but then it raise the question of how he keeps the place running, the small drama that he is Laurent father was a good twist but nothing really interesting or impressive on this episode, what I really want to know is the purpose of Genet experiments with Zombies and why Daryl was a prisoner at her ship, eventually he will kill Codron that’s for sure, the Laurent story I cant really care less, in my opinion is all about if and how Daryl gets back home, very lame episode, I hope the other three pack some punch.

From time to time there is that TV Series that I enjoy watching a lot, I do like fantasy theme TV Series although at a adult age not young kids discovering magic, for example The Magicians was a TV Show I enjoy same as The Rings of Power but I’m not a such a fan of other fantasy stories like Harry Potter.

Season two of WOT is in full force and introducing new characters or catching up with story lines is over, the fourth episode introduce its last main character with Selene now known as Lanfear, she was a mystery at first during the season but now she is pissed, not only now we know that she is a forsaken but we are starting to understand her interest to Rand, she is basically in love with him, he is too precious for him but she wants him to join her, she doesn’t want to force him this is why so far she haven’t hurt him, it will remain a mystery what she was going to do when she started channeling. Rand finally meet her real personality, Lanfear on his dreams, she is a dream walker, she can get into others people mind when they are dreaming without been invited, once she is in you are on her world with her rules and you can die on that world too.

On episode five we also get to know a bit more about Seanchan too, a city that looks a lot like Constantinople to be honest, Damane another term on their thong use to those women who can channel, they are not free they are leash by Seanchan and are use as a weapon by their controller or master in this case known as Sul’dam using a collar known as a’dam, all women who can channel including Aes Sidai are consider a marath’damane, an abomination of nature and need to be controlled, similar to how Aes Sidai think of men who can channel although they have this though because men who can channel usually go mad including the Dragon Reborn.

Moiraine got just in time when Selene was on top of Rand, she was about to channel after she tied him to the bed and Moiraine cut her throat but this was just a temporary solution and to loose her they had to pull a few old tricks like getting on horses and then leave them going into an opposite direction on foot but this was just to gain some time before Lanfear figure it out. Moiraine plan didn’t work as she thought because Logain was suppose to teach Rand how to explode his power but that never happen, now he is unprepared and Lanfear is after them, she also told him the truth, this is just starting and a higher dark power has been unleash.

Perrin finally gets some good amount of screen time, we already know he is a tracker but for some reason he is having a hard time to accept what he is, Elyas tries to guide him although he is not a big help since he is of the mind that the pack has to stay together and all Perrin can think about is his friends who have been capture by the Seachan Army, one of them Uno Modesta killed when he revise to swear loyalty.

Eamon Valda and the White Cloaks, children of the light, a blast form the past season one, Eamon torture Perrin because he is consider a monster, anyone who can channel is a monster for the White Cloaks, they have now take over the small village that Seachan Army and High Lady Suroth attacked.

When Perrin return to the Village with the intention of finding some of his friends or where they were taking, he free Aviendha who is a Maidem of the Spear, a great fighter that was capture by the White Cloaks and put on a cage, Perrin who has a great heart free her without knowing who she is but soon she show him her skills as a fighter, a fucking John Wick of the Spear putting down a good amount of White Cloaks when they surround them after Perrin free her, she is now in debt with him so she follow him where ever he goes.

Things start to unfold at The White Tower when Verin Mathwin gets back, there are rumors of Aes Sidai missing, she also went looking for Egwene and Nynaeve but they were no where to be found at the tower, she seek information on her two friends at the library who can get her more information about this reports, who got in and out of the tower but something is odd about the reports, like either someone fake the reports or use some sort of spell what they call a weave, in this case on Sheriam Sedai who wrote the report. This would only mean that there is a traitor between the lines of the Aes Sidai, someone join the dark power, one of her sisters.

At this point no body knows at The White Tower but the traitor is Liandrin, I have been thinking why she did it and there is only one answer, her son who is dying, she actually explain this to Nynaeve before knock her out and deliver her with Egwene and Elayne to High Lady Suroth by orders of Ishamael, Liandrin had some compassion for Nynaeve and before she left cut her ropes so they could have a chance to escape. This shows how Liandrin is not that bad but still a selfish traitor after all.

Verin Sedai caught Liandrin when she was coming back, of course Liandrin had alibi and brought some white asparagus to try to sweet Verin wiith but she already know something is cooking and is after the traitor, she doesn’t know yet Liandrin is guilty.

High Lady Suroth is just part of the army, she is not the one in power to dictate what their people do or not, in fact Ishamael is using her, High Lady Suroth doesn’t seem she can channel, nos sure how then they get to such high power probably just been part of a royal family. Ishamael was after the Horn of Valere and deliver it to the High Lord Turak who is commander for the Seachan Army, I dont know what is up with this people and long nails but it seems a symbol of high power among them, High Lady Suroth nails get trim because she disobey orders at invading land she was not suppose to but this was Ishamael plan all this time.

To calm down things and get on High Lord Turak good side, Ishamael not only offer The Horn of Valere as a gift but also brought a very powerful women, this was Egwene who gets put on a’dam, a very powerful collar and then a leach by her new master, I like this scene very much since Madeleine Madden did a great job at showing Egwene pain when she was put on the collar, it has some sort of power over those who can channel that makes Egwene scream in pain and put her on her knees without giving her any orders, just looks insane, also the way the collar turns into a half chest piece in a transformer way look so sick.

During the entire episode Moiraine and Rand were running from Lanfear until they got back to her home, at home was her sister and nephew who welcome both, Moiraine was running out of time and knew it was only a few days or hours before Lanfear find them, she once gave her sister an advice and that is to truly think if things are necessary, in this case means “Does Rand really needs to be protected from Lanfear?” even though he is not in control of his powers Lanfear would have kill him long time ago, been with Rand for three months and it was just fucking around, literally, so Moiraine throw him into the lion den, let Rand sleep so Lanfear can come to him that way they will find out her real plan, that’s the cover image for this post.

There is really no excuse to think this TV Series is crap, its true that season two started very slow but it was necessary, even though the TV Series is not probably word by word close to the books they at least taking some time to not rush things, make it last as much as possible to develop the story at a pace that doesn’t feel they cutting corners like for example the Perrin story, it was about time his character get a bit more of screen time, same goes for Mat and I think they will on the next episodes, it cant be always Egwene, Nynaeve and Rand, so to balance things some episodes need to be a bit slower, for example episode five there was not much fighting but there was a lot of good drama and unfolding more of what Ishamael and High Lady Suroth want, that’s to take over Seachan, he is expecting Rand to join them at their city and be on their side too, WOT is just getting better and better.

I know I’m behind on this series but I love it and prefer to take my time to enjoy it, not staying up late during weekdays, I usually load up everything into my VR setup and watch all this TV Series on Saturdays when I stay home, relaxing.

Special Ops Lioness is still ramping up at an internal level of the team, there are few things that we now for sure so far, one is that Joe is in charge and two that Cruz is going to be the bait but after loosing a Lioness to a tattoo on her side Joe doesn’t want to risk it again and this time is taking her Lioness Cruz to another level of pain because the hardest part of Joe’s job is to when she has to extract her after she gets discovered, she has to know how much time she has before Cruz breaks and start singing, with your head on the line most do and that’s how much time Joe needs to know before she takes the decision to drop a missile from a drop on Cruz head.

The series seem to be very criticize on forums and review sites for how they taking advantage of political problems and mold them to their stories even when events are not close to what is real or not, I think all that is bullshit because anyone that consider themself mature enough should know that this is TV Show this is not a fucking documentary, people watching TV should only be looking for some sort of entertainment, some dopamine, free your mind for an hour and know well that this does not has to be close to reality, I think so far actors has done this very well, entertain and for an action series with a some what unique theme Lioness, I truly give this first two episodes solid 7.5/10

Joe learn the hard way from her previous experience that when an agent blow their cover, a women in this case; and they have more than ten men looking around with a big ass Machete on their hands trying to find her to behead them and set on fire while they get recorded, everyone brakes, they stop thinking and have no clue what to due, that’s when clock starts ticking for Joe and why last time she took the decision to drop the hammer and a missile before her Lioness go through all that pain, this time she got Cruz a well trained Marine but Joe feels even Cruz breaks, usually in this type of stories Marines like Cruz who have nothing to loose, no family, no children, no boyfriend, they still have ghosts from the past that hunts them, everybody does, but its up to us how to keep them in the closet, Joe knows this very well and wants to learn Cruz breaking point, that’s what she meant here to put Cruz through the grinder.

Work for an intelligence agency and in a program like Joe is probably the worst job to keep a family, similar to her Neal, Joe’s husband also has one of the worst job in the planet, I say this because some times he has to face parents and tell them their child has little chances to survive a decease and its probably just to enjoy the little time they might have left, he is a doctor that work with patients with terminal cancer and some times he needs balls of steel to be the ones who drop the news to the family of his patient.

Episode two sets clear how hard Joe’s job is at home, a repercussion of her true job, been most of the time away, keeping secrets from her family, been away from their kids who are as though as her, Kate her daughter seem to not know the limits yet but Joe is soon to show her whats what a may be put her through some parenting grinder, Kate feels her parents marriage is fake and they going to divorce probably because they are most of the time separated but that’s doesn’t seem the case as Joe and Neal are staying together, so far the series is still on that phase of letting viewers get interested on characters side stories besides the entire Lioness mission.

We already know Cruz story, her ex boy friend paint it very well when he said she doesn’t dance, smoke or fuck anymore, that’s how they met, Cruz was probably a stripper. On episode one she was very anxious and didn’t know how to react to the fact that she is going blind into the mission but that’s the beauty of it to make it look as real as possible and cut down the risk of saying something to her asset she is not suppose to know. After her first encounter Aaliyah, the asset; Cruz is taken back to the US and put into an apartment that’s making her go crazy and decides to burn some time but Joe had other plans for her.

Joe finally gave green light to the mission, that’s kidnap Cruz and make it look as real as possible so she feels real pain, make her feel afraid, vulnerable and try to break her soul in half, they try all kind of torture but it was not enough so Joe had to jump to the stage, come clean that this is just an exerciser, I would never know because I haven’t been in such situation or training but I THINK at some point after so much pain, torture, no sleep, changes in temperature, noise, your body and mind wants it to stop so it did not take much time for Joe to break Cruz mentally reminding her about her past, how shitty was her life because Marines could not after beating her up but Joe takes it to a new level. You might find this shitty because so far Cruz have gone through a lot until now but it seems Cruz has become what she needed to defend herself back in the past, like when she said she join the Marines because she felt safe that time a Marine protect her from her ex boyfriend Hector but again it depends on the amount of torture she has gone through and that can make people sensitive enough to break to such poor speech, there is a saying “words hurt more than actions”

Joe was taking this exerciser to the extreme until she breaks, all Cruz is been ask is to say his name, her brothers name, that’s the trigger, Marines running the exercise know technically this is going too far already, they were going to push Cruz one more time, this scene has some fucking killing fights, I love this part when Cruz starts to kick some ass but that’s after she almost break but Marine Cody running the exerciser gets called to stand down and stop the exerciser, Joe is screwed as now Cruz doesn’t know her breaking point but Marines think other wise, Cruz did look broken at the time so she probably learn one or two things about herself.

Joe again reminds Cruz how eventually she might get caught and when that happens is Joe’s job to extract her but that’s not going to be easy and with little time to do so, the possibility of surviving such situation are very little but at the moment Cruz feels so shitty about herself, that’s the effect of torture, latter on when Cruz recovers her mojo things turn different, to help Cruz integrate with the team and recover she puts her on the same house as the rest of the team.

After two cups ask Cruz what happen to her the team got her back and help Cruz get some revenge so she can feel better and show her they are there for her, she is now part of the team, Bobby specially throwing more gas into the fire, taking the boys to a bar where Marine Cody was to fuck him up and others with him. After a cool short bar fight and Cruz taking revenge on Cody (cover photo of the post), Cruz gets a call from Aaliyah and gets invited to a pool party.

I have no complains about the series so far, cool under cover agent story on a war against terrorist, episode one and two are only getting to get us interested on all characters story line, from Joe’s family to her team and some other main characters who have not had much screen time yet is the case of Kaytlyn who look like Joe’s boss, there are other actors who have not show yet like Morgan Freeman, we know this because he appears on the main cover for the series so this tells us we are just getting to know the characters. I also like how the episode ends with Cruz getting a call from her asset Aaliyah inviting her to party but that’s it, lets viewers on suspense imagining whats next.

If it was a complain my only one would be that the torture scenes were too short, feel they try to make it look Cruz was there for a few days but it didn’t feel that way, an exerciser like that can’t take a few hours so it was probably best for the episode to leave Cruz the entire episode on the island so it felt a little more real, I’m talking about the sensation that it has been a couple of days under torture, they just crunch time too much, I hope its not the case on other episodes because then we will see characters going from place to place in seconds and that sux, that takes from the immersion effect of the story.

The Continental: Theater of Pain – Episode 3 – RECAP

Different than popular opinion from Crystal Generation I did enjoy The Continental specially Episode Three for sure was the best, It’s true that it was not so close to John Wick himself but that is the best part because this could the door that opens to other spin off from the same world, I kept saying it on my other two post of episode one and two, it was very little what was known about the High Table not even Charon knew the extend of it I might even dare to say not even Cormac for just thinking he could bring down the High Table, not even John Wick himself was able to bring it down but rather win under their own terms and he still dies on chapter four.

After a very slow episode two as expected the last episode was pure fire with constant action, I really enjoy how not only one character was able to put up some really good shooting and fight scenes, Yen, Miles, KD but the one who really stole the show as Lou, on episode two she did a great display of her fighting skills going against a gang that was bullying her but on the third episode I saw a fight scene I could never imagine.

I have heard of shooting or fighting inside an elevator but fighting on a fucking phone booth? the greatest part is the balance of this fight, what make it so amazing is that it was not two crazy skill fighters but a man Mayhew who is way bigger and potentially stronger than Lou on that tight space and then Lou who is skinny, less weight, less brute force but she fucking him up so badly all inside of a two by two phone booth, this was only one of the few scenes that made this last episode amazing, on IMDB episode three got a solid eight and that says a lot, over all I give this series an eight out of ten.

Winston manage to assemble a small crew but he is after something way bigger and that’s Mazie’s army although he haven’t crack her code yet, Love that’s is all she wants but what kind of love exactly? Miles and the rest almost back out when he told them Mazie is not yet with them but he was right they going to war so even with here there is no guaranty that their plan will work out, they are taking over a hotel that is basically a fortress.

Ray McKinnon was a great addition to this mini series playing as Jenkins, an old sharp shooter who refuse to to recognize he is now old and need glasses, Mile’s old friend still got it and turn out to be a key asset to take over The Continental, McKinnon also adds in my opinion the entire side of the comedy aspect of this mini series.

On Episode three many are seeking the truth and revenge at the same time and if we pay attention almost every single story goes back to Cormac and the hotel, for example Lou and Mile’s father use to work for Cormac and different to what Lou knows of her father he was another assassin under contract with Cormac, her brother Miles try to protect her from this sad truth but it was a local Asian Gangster name Chen who open her eyes, he gave her the very own gun her dad use to kill many, I’m no gun expert but that’s a big ass gun looks like a .50

Another revelation from this episode was KD story, she started the series as just investigating gangster that were going in and out of the hotel but she was after Frankie, I think she only mention him twice, after Frankie went MIA for her then she focus on Winston and the Hotel, never understood what truly happen inside the Hotel but she knew they protect all kind of criminals and latter infiltrate with a High Table Coin she got from a dead shooter who work for Cormac, her true story is that she was the only survivor after the fire Winston and Frankie started on an apartment, never told anyone all this time until she finally put her hands on Winston and was ready to pull the trigger and take vengeance by her own hands.

Last best fight of the night was between Yen and The Twins, specially the Gretel who shoot Frankie in the head after he gave up and jump from the helicopter, the twins Hansel and Gretel were under contract by Cormac, Yen is a character that carry a lot of fighting power and now is full of rage to the point she doesn’t care about her life anymore all she wants is to kill the twins, she doesnt even care about Winston plan thats why she goes old school when she met Frankie and puts on a C4 vest to blow up when she catch the twins. This was a very freaky fight from Gretel, this is a good example how an actor can be good at performing their role and not saying a word, in my opinion from the two Gretel was the best at it.

After everything was settle and the fight was over, it’s obvious this was a fight the good guys would win, many died but at the end it was expected for Winston to take over the Hotel, after all on the movies he is the manager of the continental, he faces the Adjudicator who pay him a visit, to a certain point she left Cormac to die because the High Table never send reinforces but Winston was aware she was not the person he would talk to but he had to send a message to those at a higher position within the High Table so he did what no body else would that’s kill the Adjudicator, this action kinda contradicts how Winston behave on the movies when he did what the Adjudicator told him too although he was always trying what Cormac did, try to win using their own rules against the High Table, this was many years before the John Wick movies so probably he was young and wild back then.

The Continental was a mini series that at first I was skeptical about it since it landed on Peacock as its not a a AAA streaming media in terms of the content that is release on this service, another thing that got me worry is that most of the cast was a not very well known except Gibson and many have the opinion he is going down hill on his career, after all this I decided to give it a try for many reasons probably the most important one is that I love the underdog and this was the case, a series with a great story but release on a not popular streaming service with actors that not many know off.

After three good episodes I give The Continental a solid 8/10, the second episodes as expected was the slowest one but the first and third really nail it with a good story and packing a lot of action, many though this was going to be around the story of the High Table and probably John friendship with Winston but it was not the case, it was all about Winston and how he started at the Hotel, how he started doing business with the High Table, if we pay attention not much is reveal about the High Table during the series and this opens the door for some other spin off.

I didn’t want to take the fun out of the action scenes so I didn’t describe them just the final outcome of the different side stories besides Winston, everything on this story happen because of Cormac so it was just a matter of time before people like Winston, Lou, Frankie, KD and even the High Table take revenge.
